Well, I think he definitely showed what he can do with his arm today.  His down field throws were money/  The INT was pretty bad but overall that is a QB that can carry a team.

Exactly.  He definitely answered a lot of questions today.

That interception was on Hodgins not Jones. Peterson blew him up running across him like that.

A little bit but not enough to draw a foul.   Hodgins should have done a better job body blocking Peterson.

Did Peterson drag/pull hodgins hand/arm?

Hodgins had the line and Peterson bullied him out of it.

Jones really showed up for this game against a pretty decent defense.

I still think he could be replaced by literally any QB but why take the chance?

Tag him and try to work out a two-three year deal.

Any QB?  Come on man!!  Look at the panthers!  Browns!  Indy! ALT!   Even rodger having a hard time with no WR!!

I know some of you Sportswrathians hate him .....but i think he has done really well considering we have the worst WR's in the NFL.
We should not underestimate his incredible rushing ability 583 yards and 5 TD .
He has looked after the football , managed the game well , made smart decisions , kept a lot of drives going with his legs.
He is also pretty accurate when asked to pass the ball ( considering he has no stars out there catching it )
He has a QB rating of 90.5 which is better than Brady , Stafford , Murray , Wilson , Fields , Carr , Mariota and many other so called stars .
I expect that we use the franchise tag on him next year ( or work out a team friendly 2-3 year deal )

Go Giants 8-5-1

I'd love to see him back on a heavily incentive-laden, middle of the road contract. He's been one of only three good players on offense this year.

If he asks for top-5 money I think we have to let him walk.

I agree with Seph on this

Among many others

I was okay with Danny Kanell and Kerry Collins

I dissed Eli until I saw him as the ONE

Simms was okay for me, and I always Loved Hostetler

If Tarkenton had stayed he would have been the one, I believe

YA Tittle was DA MAN

Maybe Jones can make it

Give him some WR's and a Line

Just have him manage the game and we win two thirds to three quarters of our games

 That fallow period between 1963-1981 was a waste Land that one can't even write about man

History teaches you patience

I hope Jones proves me wrong and goes deep sometime in the near future into the playoffs and eventually makes and wins a Super Bowl for the Giants

Do a 2-3 year bridge deal if they can.

He's going to command $25-30M per year based on estimates I've seen.

I say do 3 years, $85M, with a $25M or less cap hit in 2023 if possible.

Then we either have to restructure or cut Leonard Williams and Adoree Jackson (they are a combined $50M cap hit). Definitely cut Golladay.

I would def extend Jackson.  He's earned it I think.  Williams is a tough cut, but I think that's the right call.  Golloday can't leave this team soon enough.

I would like to max DJ at 25m per if possible...but not sure that's gonna get it done given the deals these guys are getting.

How I see the the QB tiers in the NFL, not sure who I am missing.  Each tier is not necessarily ranked individually.

I have DJ probably at or near the top of Tier 3.  What it means to me is if I were given the option for a 1 for 1 trade with any of the guys in tier 1 or 2, I would take it.  I think Goff is the question mark, but hard to look past what he has done this year with a really questionable squad.  Tua is another one just because he is surrounded by so much talent, but dude has delivered this year.  And no I don't think Dak is in the same league as Mahomes, but the tiers were more about clear cut franchise QB's in tier 1, solid but ultimately maybe not entrenched as irreplaceable guys in tier 2, question marks in tier 3, and either no fly or not enough evidence in tier 4.

I think Jones is a lot like Jimmy G, could be a tier 2 guy but also tier 3.

Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 Tier 4
Mahomes Cousins G. Smith Ryan
Allen Goff D. Jones Wilson
Burrow Carr Mills Brissett
Herbert   M. Jones Dalton
Lawrence   Jimmy G Mariota
Tua   Tennehill Pickett
Hurts   Fields Z. Wilson
Rodgers   Mayfield Wentz
Prescott   Heincke Trubisky
Murray
Jackson
Stafford

There's no one in Tier 2 that can offer the Giants much more than Jones does right now.

As for tier 1. Tua/Lawrence and Murray shouldn't be there. Lawrence is getting better, but the other 2 are not elite. Murray has regressed this year, Tua plays some shitty games.

It isn't so much that they are elite, but at current level of play I don't see them being replaced in the next few years.  I'm torn on Tua, might just be I like to see a left handed qb do well, but I agree he is not an elite talent.  I don't think Murray is necessarily elite either, but he has shown he can win, put up numbers, etc and unless they decide to blow the team up, he will be given a lot of rope and there is almost no chance he gets benched in the next few seasons.  That was my tier criteria.  Lawrence, his rookie year is a throw away as that team was just dysfunctional, this is like a repeat rookie year for him.

Carr and Kirk are pretty clear upgrades over DJ, but to be perfectly fair, a lot more talent and maybe more stability around them for their careers.

Think of it less as tiers and more this way.

Tier 1 is the top 12 QB's in terms of not going anywhere for a while ranked however you see fit.  They are either proven studs or have shown enough / belioeved to have enough potential that their teams will not be moving on from them for a while.

Tier two is 13-15 ranked however.  They have a track record, probably not going anywhere but have shorter leashes if they have a bad season.

Tier 3 is 16-24 ranked however.  Their teams would not be above upgrading if the right opportunity came up, but are likely to ride with them another year or two while the team sorts itself out and/or finds the replacement.

Yeah but again, the tier 1 is not proven talent level, it is basically job security over the next 3 seasons.

gotcha, the team perception angle makes sense. Side note: I like that you left Brady out entirely. Not sure if that was intentional, but he's been playing at a tier 5 level lately anyway.
