BlueInCanada
Week one losses suck, and the media/fans always blow them out of proportion, just look at this post. "X team won, they are going to the Superbowl" "Y team lost, time for a rebuild" However with what we have seen from the defence and frankly the offence in some regards, this team isnt "a quick adjustment" here away from the playoffs, they are multiple draft classes away from the playoffs. I honestly don't see how this defence could be anything more than bottom 25 of the NFL (again) just from the lack of talent (LBs/pass rush) and raw talent (CBs) they have on the unit. The offence can keep games close, possibly, but more than likely it will just be a repeat of the same, Barkley and the offence get rolling but by the third quarter they are behind multiple TDs. If this trend continues, as much as I <3 me some Goofy looking fuck 1.0, I would rather he gets the Warner treatment and Jones can finish off the last 9 or 10 games of the year. The Giants/FA of old would of never brought in the backup QB as we've seen in blowout losses, the fact that Jones was able to come out and get a series in shows that the coaching staff but most importantly Mara Jr, is ready to move on from Eli sooner, rather than later. If the losses keep piling up, I think that band aid would be better served to be ripped off mid-season, than at the end of the season.
Storm
Manning has been spelled in blowout losses (and wins) in the past. It just makes sense not to get your starting QB hurt while there is no chance to win the game. I was shocked Brady was still in up 30-3 with 6 minutes to go last night. echochamber
As soon as we are 2 games under .500 Jones should be the starter.
GorillaNJ
If Eli does not get hurt, and he keeps having days where he goes 30/44 for 306 yards and a TD type games, it will be difficult to sit him.

Nope. That makes it easy to make the switch since the only reason Eli had those numbers is because Dallas ass raped us all day long and we had to air it out

MakeMeSomeFoodHo
Prescott ripped apart the secondary. It was ugly to watch. But they're young and have talent. Dallas is stacked. They're just better. But there is reason to be optimistic. After the growing pains are gone...the Giants should be a force to be reckoned with. 2021 and forward should be a great time for this team The pieces are here...with some more good drafts and some smart and savvy free agent signings....theres no reason they wont be perennial Superbowl contenders

Sephiroth
Jones will start when/if the following happen: 1. We are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. 2. Eli starts throwing 3 picks a game for more than 3 consecutive weeks. 3. Eli gets hurt. That's it. Those are the scenarios.

Sephiroth
Maybe if Jacksonville gives us a trade offer too good to pass up? If they were that dumb than yeah. Upper management spent a #6 overall on this guy... they obviously love him... I'd think you'd be talking about two #1's and more at the bare minimum. It's doubtful that they'd be willing to give that up. Their backup seemed OK yesterday, they just dumped a bunch of money into their starter and I'm not sure they think they're one player away from being in the Super Bowl. EDIT: Oh wait, you meant Eli? He'd have to agree to it.

mastershake
Put him in after the bye week. There's no sense putting him in before that only to get him murdered by the Minn and NE defenses right before the bye week.

GorillaNJ
Jags traded for dobbs already Dobbs comes in as a backup... Eli would come in as a run for the playoffs... Not sure Eli would accept the trade, but maybe Coughlin could convince him

Otherwise why trade for a second backup before trading for Eli...

BlueInCanada
The Jags wouldn't trade for Eli simply because they are not a playoff team. Foles was the bridge QB for the rebuild. Eli isnt a bridge QB, he's a "we got one last shot" type of QB.
Iceman_NYG
I Jones will start when/if the following happen: 1. We are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. 2. Eli starts throwing 3 picks a game for more than 3 consecutive weeks. 3. Eli gets hurt. That's it. Those are the scenarios. I concur with this. The only way DJ starts is when we are mathematically eliminated from the Playoffs. Not before. Maybe some playing time in garbage blow outs - either way but thats it. JayD
Its a shame DJ wont see the field anytime soon. Maybe Im jumping the gun here, but it seems to me, with zero pass rush combined with the inexperience in the back field, its hard to imagine they wont be picking in the top 5 come the next draft. They should be letting him get his rookie mistakes over with now, in a rebuilding year. Why wait till next year when they might have a chance to have a winning season? This is not to say that DJ gives them the best chance to win. Nor am I saying Eli cant play anymore. It would have been nice if the team as a whole was in a position to win more games then they are gonna lose. That Eli could ride off into the sunset with a chance to have a great season, or even walking away with another ring. Thats not gonna happen though. I say let DJ be tried by fire now, rather then later.
