--"made a pssionate plea in 2003 for giants to draft unheralded DE Osi Umenyiora with their second-round pick."--ny daily news. check

--"our team is god enough to be playing right now."--reese. while he said all the right things about coughlin at the press conference, IMO he said the bare minimum of what's expected. i think he's skeptical about coughlin and will be seirous next season when it comes time to decide his fate. the more i think about it, the more it seems to me that mara and tisch just didn't want to make the decision on coughlin. so they passed the buck to reese for next season.

I think the Giants are good, but they have a long way to go before becoming God. ;)

totally agree but with a third place schedule next year, we should make the playoffs again. Maybe we can get some guys in free agency that will elevate our status to god. :TU:

(Cue Orchestral fanfare heavy with brass and drums - Baron TBCvP "The Bastard" Mara is pacing back and forth in his lair...)

TBCvP: (Talking to himself) He has spurned me for the moment ....the Chosen One .....BB The Prodigal...what shall I doooo?

TBCvP: (sudden inspiration alights in TBCvP's dark and twisted mind) Yes...that is the answer...I will summon him forth, bend him to my dark will and make him my apprentice.

(It is an hour later The Bastard is awaiting for the arrival of The Apprentice)

TBCvP: I have summoned you forth to take the reins of my EMPIRE....only together will we be strong enough to save the GIANTS.

The Apprentice: I place myself at your behest...my Master..teach me the ways of winning my lord.

TBCvp: GOOD...GOOD...I feel the anger...the hatred of all things not GIANTS swelling in you now my apprentice. Henceforth you will have a new name....The Dark Lord...do you accept my dominion?

The Apprentice: Yes my master...I will no longer be known as Reese...I am now The Dark Lord.

TBCvP: Yes....yes...now I charge you with your mission. Disregard the blandishments from Acorsi The Accursed ...he has been cast out.

The Apprentice: Yes master...but what of The Cheer Leader and his Project OCP...? Much was given up ...with not enough to show for it as of yet master.

TBCvP: DO WHAT MUST BE DONE Dark Lord, go forth....spare no one ...not even the younglings. You will bring in veteran help to push Project OCP (aka Opie Cookie Puss) to new heights. And you will keep a short leash and a watchful eye on Cheer Leader. The former still has my favor...as for the latter...The Prodigal spurned me this year...but next year he will be FREE. And I will call on you to dispatch that bloated wad of humanity called The CheerLeader and remove him from my sight so that his taint will never again touch anything...GIANTS.

The Apprentice: It shall be done my master, exactly as thou wishest. (the Dark Lord exits with a flourish of his cape heading towards his new future...and to please his master).

TBCvP: Bewhahahahahaha....everything is going as I have forseen, heh, heh. (TBCvP presses a button on his desk...and a secret panel opens...there are four figures hanging by their chained wrists <Chris, John, the Tisch Brothers). The rule of the Catholic University Irish guys is at an END. You... like Papa Wel are now MINE. (cue Orchestral music as we exit this scene).

What can I say ....its a slow day at the office. :P

Lets wait and see what moves the man makes before we start getting the "annointment oils" out

i didn't annoint him anything, im simply saying that im becoming more convinced that he's a worthy hire than i was when he was initialy hired. i first saw his hiring as yet another inside the box mara/tisch circle of trust hiring. now im not as sure about that

Strength/Weakness of schedule is a myth in today's NFL. All NFC East teams will play 14 common opponents.

i agree. this ownership is clueless

They are a lot alike a British captain of a heavey cruiser in WWII (disclaimer: this never happened):

Chief Engineer Barclay: Sir, we are dead in the water with no hope of regaining maneuvering power in less than a day

Captain F.U. Stiff Upper: Very good Barclay...carry on.

Chief Navigator Leftenant Stiles: Sir, we are trapped in the most dense field of mines I have ever encountered....

Captain F. U. Stiff Upper: Very good Stiles...no worries... we will find a way out.

Officer of the Day Jameson: Torpedoes....SIR! At least 6...repeat at least 6 wakes in the water...

Commander Pike: Sir it has to be a wolf pack....

Captain F.U. Stiff Upper: Now I have had enough of this defeatism as I can stand for one morning....dismissed gentlemen. (the Captain turns to the annunciator and speaks). Donnelson (the Captain's steward) where is that Earl of Grey, hmmmm?

{The cameras shift to a full panoramic view of the HMS Giant's Folly as she literally evaporates into a cloud of metal, steam, and all things British.... :LMAO:

Substitute Giants' Folly for Giants Front Office and you have a nice little window into their mindset.

you must be confusing me with someone else. a) i would gladly take fox bellicek (even though i dont like him) and weiss--but that's because of their track record as head coaches, not because they used to coach here. and those were george young/jim fassel/bill parcells hires, not mara/tische hires like coughlin. b) i never wanted payton--i thought he would be a very shitty coach. i was wrong, obviously. c) im glad reese is the gm because of his track record in the draft and the fact that george young had confidence in him as a scout. that tells me he can recognize talent. it has nothing to do with him being an inside man with the mara/tische clique--if anything that would normally discourage me as i think they're a bunch of baffoons
