Yeah, it looked like a routine ankle roll. They can blow up like crazy but aren't usually very bad for very long. Just terrible luck, could happen to anyone walking in their own yard.

Ehh...I don't know. I've had these before. They tend to linger and impede your ability to make cuts/change of direction, and unlike knee injuries they tend to get worse the more you run on it.

well shit....  personally I never had one of those that kept me down for more than a few days. It looks bad, it feels bad, then a few days later its like it never happened.

anyway, all I was trying to say is, appearances can be real misleading with that kind of injury.

sometimes you see the dreaded 'high ankle sprain', and it doesn't always swell like crazy, but that fucker finishes you.

Funny thing about ankle injuries (soft tissue)... once you start running and get fully warmed up, you don't feel the pain any more... until you're done with the game and resting then it all comes back.

I had one on my left ankle after a motorcycle accident in 1988 that they still easily pick up on X-rays.  When I was going to my rheumatologist on the regular in early 2019 they would ask me what happened to my ankle and I would tell them then it was 31 years ago back in 1988 that this happened.  This was again in 2019.  They say yep... there was a lot of damage that the body adapted too.  I was limping for a year and still feel it.  I could not imagine running on it and getting hit by flying missiles of men from 250-350 every five minutes for 25 weeks a year.  No way.  Now it is 33 years ago.
