So what type of QB is Jones anyway?

First year he was slinging it like a mad man like most rookie QBs and also setting records for turnovers.

Year two he looked just outright awful with no help and year three wasn't much better, however he cut down on the turnovers while basically losing his arm talent.

I'll give him the fact that he wants to win and shows it by leading by example scampering for first downs and taking unnessacary hits at times.

So year 4, Jones has a better Oline, Barkley is back by all accounts better WRs despite them never being healthy or even worth their roster spot.

But he's forgotten how to pass the ball, sure Tyrod threw and INT but atleast he was trying to push the team down the field with his arm. Jones is doing his best 2020 Cam Newton Patriots impersonation.

He's going to run for more yards then he will pass.

I still don't think he's shown anything besides being at best a game manager, but if we are going for a new QB in a year or so do we keep him to be the bridge?

I don't know, kids fucking weird yo.

He doesn't look that much better than Tyrod Taylor, to be honest. Jones looks uncomfortable and is slow in his reads. He's a gritty kid and a selfless leader and in those regards I like him a lot, but he's not an NFL starter.

That's where my heart is torn.

I was fully behind Jones and still hoping he has some resurrection this season, he's selfless like you said and the team follows his example.

But man if only he played another position (hell convert him to the next Taysom Hill) instead of the most important position on the team where he really isn't all that much to rave about and is consistently getting hurt.

This

Tyrod at least throws and looks downfield before running at times

I will say this.

With the recent trend in the NFL for QBs to be giving the chance to come back in start there is hope for Jones down the road.

Look at Geno Smith, dude is playing like one of the best QBs in the NFL.

Teddy Bridgewater stepped in at QB for the Dolphins and played well.

Mariota is having somewhat of a rise with the Falcons.

Jared Goff is going to break records this year with how he's throwing in Detroit.

I always liked Bridgewater. I think had things fallen a bit differently he'd still be a starter in the league. Maybe even a star. But that knee injury was brutal and derailed him at just the wrong time.

Also, for the record, Jones has a weak arm.  I'm tired of hearing all the "he has the best deep ball in the league" bullshit.  His arm is weak throwing simple outs, and watch his receivers... they have to stop or slow down on literally all of his deep throws this year.   He's certainly passable but we could do a hell of a lot better there.

Yes, he had an awesome deep ball percentage that year that we threw six passes downfield the entire season.  Jones is not a deep ball quarterback. Just fucking stop with that shit.

He is still a huge question mark, but today he was a fucking baller baby.  You wouldn't confuse him for Rodgers, but his determinination to extend drives and win that game.  If he is THAT qb the rest of the year, the not flashy stats but mistake free and confident guy that is putting bullets into guys' chest.  He is earning himself something man.

He missed one throw that I can rmemeber, Slayton across the middoe that probably goes for 6, but that was as much on Slayton not looking for the ball yet.

It's possible that he will get better and better with this offense style. I enjoy watching it. Having a difference maker like Barkley helps.

We can also agree that no one said a word about our O-Line today which is great! Imagine a better Neal next year while we upgrade a guard or two…..
