Who should be the Coach next year? GM?

I would have loved Mcvay. If only the Giants had this debacle last year.

Mcvay would have definitely been the guy..at least should have been. Has giants family ties.. grandfather coached the Giants in a few years of the suck..wasn't his fault, those teams were just awful.. Lombardi wouldn't have had a winning season with those giants teams..was part architect of those great 49er team.

He has winning football in his blood. And is doing great things with the Rams.

I wonder how long it'll take Peyton Manning to think about a GM-type position ala Elway? I'm not saying he'd be good at it or that we'd even entertain it given Eli would theoretically still be on the roster...but a former player who knows what it takes is somewhat appealing to me.

There are guys on the Patriots staff who see Tom Brady every day in practice and games. Given he's making a real argument for the best QB ever, I wouldn't be opposed to someone from that staff...but at the same time, their assistants haven't really done much as HCs elsewhere, so I'm hesitant there.

I can say though with certainty, I'm not a fan of bringing in a college coach. The life, the systems, and just about everything is so different, I think the transition is tougher than ever. I can say too, that I don't want to fill the HC or GM spot from within either. This is a massive reset with no save option.

There's no argument, tom Brady is the best quarterback ever..and it kind of isn't close.

I know relativity to era goes into the debate, but even then, I believe it's still Brady by a landslide. Guy looks like he can play another decade at a MVP caliber QB

That said, I'm with you on a complete reset of staff from top to bottom..sorry spags

Who calls the plays for the Saints? Minny? We need a capable OC first - then HC. We havent had a capable one in years now. Weapons not being used properly. Shit calls all the time. Predictable as fuck. We won those 2 SBs on pure grit - there was no creativity there.

top to bottom. Everything has to be done over. Even player personnel..Keep obj and Collins and a few others and build around them and the qb that they draft this year..or if Webb sets the world on fire or at least shows...aw fuck it, doesn't matter.. whoever comes in will pick the qb.. whoever that may be.

I'm almost of the opinion that we should draft that Guard outta Notre Dame in the first or a top flight LT, then pick up maybe a MLB in the second. Let us suck for another year or two before we go QB/OL next year. This ain't getting turned around in one year.

Agreed to some extent. Only argument for a QB is (1) if Webb isn't ready to start and (2) the QBs in this class are supposedly more NFL ready than many recent classes. If you wait until next year, even if you have a top 5 pick again, the QB group may be worse overall than this year.

I thought the opinion on September was this, but now most of the "experts" are saying there's not any blue-chip prospect at QB and they all more or less have issues.

First round QB's are typically a big crapshoot. There are no guarantees.

I like the idea of drafting a QB PLUS bringing in either Case Keenum or Teddy Bridgewater for a look. Granted, Keenum is going to demand a big contract based on his play this year, potentially like 15-20mm per year for 3 - 4 years.

Teddy Bridgewater might make more sense. In the FA Market, he'd command a lesser commitment, such as a 2 year $8-12mm contract. He showed potential when he was healthy, so see if he can pick it up again when back next year, and put an OL around him. If it doesn't work out, you have Webb and the 1st rounder to evaluate, waiting in the wings. There's nothing wrong with developing a draft QB behind the scenes and not starting him right away.

Same guys said the same thing about Wentz & Goff. I don't think there has been a first round NFL class this generation without issues. Teams and scouts are doing their homework and really digging into players.

Personal issues that would get swept under the rug in the past are now red flags. Medical science is continuing to rapidly progress and make accurate prognosis on players as well.

Great call, Ice... With all the weapons we have on offense, it's fucking atrocious we relied on ODB this entire time... and in the process might've over-exposed him... I'm not too mad at Spags... he did good and even great sometimes for the D but that's up to the new HC if he wants to keep Spags or not...

You could say that about any dreftee... hence the busts up down the draft boards every year.....

I remember this too. Around this time two years ago everyone was saying it was the weakest QB class in a while. Early returns on Wentz and Goff are both pretty good. They said this year's QBs were bad too but the kid the Texans got looked like a world-beater before he got hurt, and he was supposed to have all kinds of issues.

Not for nothing Ice, but no team or coach does it this way. The coach is hired, then he picks HIS staff. Teams don't put a staff in place and then ask someone to come in and head it up (unless you're Jerry Jones).

I don't know who should be our next HC or GM... I'm not in the business to know what's out there. It's naive for me to even consider looking knowing I'm in the finance/accounting sector and can somehow determine or guess who the next GM and HCs are... now if the Giants want a CFO, my resume is handy.

Bridgewater intrigues me. Not sure of his free agent status...will he be one this offseason? How different is he from Geno?

I'm not sold on Keenum or Cousins...they're both going to be big ticket guys and the next few years, assuming Eli is cut or traded, we'll presumably have those opportune years where our QB doesn't take up a monstrous amount of the cap...allowing us to surround him with an offensive line that's actually worth a damn. I like the idea of running with Webb/draft pick and inexpensive veterans who have game experience.

Ideally, I'd love for Eli to restructure and keep him in house. But that invites QB controversy and I'm not sure that's good for the team either.

I'm glad I'm on the outside making critiques of the decisions as opposed to making the decisions myself!

Pete Carmichael for the Saints, Pat Shurmur for Minny. Bring in Carmichael and Joe Lombardi(yes that guys grandson) as OC. Another cool fact...Carmichael played for Coughlin at BC
