  1. Houstons a popular pick this year, but I say none-of-the-above. Arizona has the best chance IMO, but they've been making prognoticators of their success look stupid for years, so I want no part of them.
  2. We suck! 1st overall pick in '09 Draft, here we come! ...sorry, I thought I was still on Giants.com for a moment.
  3. :yikes: my eyes, my eyes!
  4. Hey, Dave was pretty good for a cornerback who ran the 40 in 5 seconds flat. He makes a pretty good hamburger too.
  5. So strange. I'm lukewarm on the trade, I think that long term it will be a good move. But you're right, he just doesn't look right in that uniform. God I hope the Saints go in the tank. I'll be rooting hard for a 1-15 season and a healthy Vilma.
  6. Any word on how he's playing so far? I think he's been running with the 3rd team.
  7. Hopefully never. Its BIG FUCKING BLUE, damnit!
  8. Starts at $1200...not unreasonable for a cruise. If only I weren't broke
  9. I think only on 3rd downs, or if Tuck gets injured.
  10. ...4 top ten defenses last year. God I love the NFC East.
  11. I'm as concerned about the Eagles as I am the Cowboys. If they stay healthy they're as good as any team in the NFC. Except a healthy Giants team, of course
  12. Hell no thats not too much. Thats the reasonable thing to do. The man is underpaid. Pay the man.
  13. But on the bright side, we only had three aces on the field for the entire playoff run. Kiwi is coming back
  14. I'm with Plax on this one. He should get a ~50% bump in salary and a couple more years on the end of his deal. Don't screw this up, Giants. Keep the man motivated, show him the love.
  15. I'm not sure if thats Coughlin's strategy or Reese's, but I think you're right, and I think they're on to something. Although, I think a lot of teams have some flexibility at LB. I (unfortunately) get to watch a lot of the Bengals, and they play their DE at LB sometimes, just like we do with Kiwi, and move the other LBs around to other positions. But...they're the Bengals, so you know how that turns out.
  16. This doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be salary-cap free in '10 and beyond, it just means they're going to negotiate a new CBA. Basically its the same thing they went through a year or two ago. Nothing to panic about as long as cooler heads - and not Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder - prevail.
  17. Its so hard to isolate an individual player's impact on the game, but here's one way to look at it. I think we can all agree that Shockey had most pass attempts directed his way within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. So here is Eli's completion % split out by attempts from 1-10 yards beyong the LOS: 2005: 64% comp 2006: 68% comp 2007: 65% comp And here is Shockey's catch % each year: 2005: 53% catch 2006: 57% catch 2007: 61% catch Anybody else think these numbers don't line up the way they should? Also consider that Shockey is usually running a shorter less-than-ten yard route (relative to the QB) than Toomer or Plax. The more I crunch these numbers, the more negative Shockey's impact on the passing game seems to be.
  18. Eli in '08 with Shockey: 55.7% comp 6.18 ypa 3.95% TD/att 3.53% INT/att Eli in '08 without Shockey: 60.8% comp 7.33 ypa 6.02% TD/att 2.41% INT/att Hmmmmm
  19. Return kicks? Ouch Nas, we've already seen that. And Sinorice was HORRIBLE at it. He definitely has a fear of contact, it showed more on kick returns than it did on those silly slip screens they keep trying to run with him. Knowing that he's a bit of a puss, I will say that he should be running more routes downfield. He's short, but he's got the quicks to get more than enough separation to make up for it. And if I were him, I'd rather corners and safeties trying to bring me down from behind than linebackers and safeties coming at me going forward.
  20. Like I said, I was venting - this is someone I have a bad feeling about, and specifically didn't want him. And I'm done trashing the guy. But if you want to talk facts and background, during the draft they said 5'11", give or take a fraction of an inch. And either way, you're splitting hairs because a 4.6 40 is pretty shitty for someone that size, and 178 is, for an athlete, frail for his height. Has he never lifted a weight in his life? The 'derogatory info' isn't some secret, thats basically what every scouting report I've seen says about him...with the caveat that he's supposedly naturally gifted, he just hasn't applied himself. He vastly improved on his 40 yard dash at his pro day, but his short shuttle, which IMO is more important as it gives us a measurable for getting in and out of cuts, was still terrible - 4.38. Now we'll see if our guys can find a way to keep him motivated. Who knows,
  21. Well Bleedin, I think we jinxed us over in that other thread I will say this, Mario Manningham is a most excellent football name. Does he have anything else going for him though? Small. Slow. Poor routes. Poor character. Dumb as a brick. And Gil Brandt compared his field vision and toughness to Sinorice Moss - the same Moss that shys from contact and has the worst field vision I can recall seeing in a Giants uniform. I guess if they were looking for a replacement for Moss, they've got their guy. ...Okay ...::... I got it out of my system, I won't trash him again until I see him on the field as a pro. Lets go Super Mario! I will say, he looks much bigger on the field than 5'11". I always thought he was like 6'2". He must have long arms.
