All good points. And hopefully Jacobs realizes that he's the type of back that NEEDS a great OL. With the Giants, he can get a good contract and rack up 240 carries and ~1200 yards per year for three or four more years. If he goes somewhere else with an average OL, he gets 350 carries for one season, then is done the next year after averaging 3.5 per carry and being nicked up to all hell. But if he (and Ward too) stay in New York, he could be part of something legendary.

The Giants D is so effective because it gets a lot of pressure on the QB without bringing six or seven defenders. This isn't the week to start...Warner & their receivers will burn the hell out of single coverage.

Yeah, what was up with that? I ran that play back a few times...from the angle we had at home, it looked like he was penalized for making too good of a block. No harm done though, the team closed out the drive with a TD anyway.

Probably because not many of those guys are good enough athletes. The more complex NFL schemes become, the more important it is to have smart - reasonably smart - players on the field. Back in the 60s and earlier, a lot of those guys didn't feel comfortable signing their names unless they had a crayon in their hands. For example, the wonderlic test...I read somewhere that the average NFL player scores higher on the wonderlic than the average dude in the general population. The modern NFL is, as a whole, filled with relatively bright guys.

I'm not sweating it. The Browns just had guys in the right spot all night, it was just one of those days. Every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut. I was more discouraged that the Giants eventually seemed to give up, but hey, its a road game against a non-conference team...big freakin deal. The Browns played their best football of the season, all wrapped up in one game...and it might be a good thing for the Giants in the long run, complacency isn't a good thing.
