  1. This. Eli has tried to speed everything up and the timing is all out of whack as a result.
  2. I would have an easier time with that rationale if it wasn't coming off the horrible loss to the Redskins - a game we were supposed to win. That said, even though it's another tough spot, I]m looking for a much better showing in Green Bay.
  3. I vaguely remember this guy......but speaking of tools, anyone know what ever became of Jack?
  4. I quit betting real $$ on the NFL decades ago, so it's only pools now....but I go against the Giants sometimes and this week will likely be one of those times. If I lose the bet, I'm happy. If the Giants lose, at least I won the bet! I think of it as misery insurance.
  5. I'm worried about this one. Minny D Line is very physical and very good. I can see them manhandling our OL. Also, that new stadium is apparently super loud and you know they'll be roaring on their first Monday night, national TV game. If things start going south, it could snowball in a hurry. Could be a long night. Frankly, I'm surprised the spread is only 4.
  6. I don't mind Darkwa as the starter. I was wanting to see more of him, anyway. It's behind him that I worry about. Rainey and his ball security issues makes me nervous and the fact that Perkins can't get on the field tells me all I need to know about his readiness....or lack thereof. Think you'll see a few names come in for workouts this week.

    Defense

Any thread that includes "Holy fuckballs in heaven" is worth reading.
  8. Definitely see the weather hindering them a lot more than us and our D is a helluva lot better than last year. 34-21, good guys.
  9. I would have gone with blue, too. The Giant blue and Eagle green would be.......I don't know...eye catching?
  10. White for color rush? I don't know....
  11. OK, you're referring to JT Thomas, right? Not Cruz? Don't scare me like that!
  12. The D Line was fine. Sacks are great but not the only gauge of a line's effectiveness. They stuffed the run and put a lot of pressure on Prescott and never let him get comfortable, making him move and elude. And they'll only get better, as the young guys like Odiggy and Okwara get acclimated and start to contribute, rotating in, keeping everyone fresh.
  13. Yeah, he got away with a few floaters. Still, as you say, he was pretty good for first start.
  14. Looking at it again, the best he could have done would have been to get out around the 47. We got not one but two late stops to preserve the win! And even though we didn't keep the ball to run out the clock at the end, we ran the ball, got a few first downs and bled the clock way down. Neither of those things happened last year. Gotta be encouraged about that.
  15. Probably wasn't about money as much as location. Guy has school age kids and Chicago is close enough to Green Bay that he doesn't have to uproot the whole family.
  16. That's an overreaction. Why would the OL be any worse than last year?
  17. It's impossible to watch a horror show like last night and not be alarmed....but here's the thing - we have the same OL that somehow got us through last season with a top 10 offense (and Flowers should be a year better). We have the same running backs and with a slimmed down and improved Williams, along with Perkins, you could argue that we're stronger at the RB position. We added Shephard to the WR corps and Cruz might be able to contribute, after all........so how did we suddenly go from a good offense to a futile offense? What happened?
  18. LOL! And I think of you every time they run it!
  19. We've looked this bad in the preseason before and in fact, it's carried over into the early season some years, including one year we ended up winning the Super Bowl.....but that was with TC and I always had faith he would get it turned around. I knew he'd get the most - and then some - out of what he had to work with and nobody in that building would have a comfortable minute until that shit was fixed. I want to believe Mac is capable of doing the same but we don't know that yet. That's the nagging fear as I put my head on the pillow tonight: this guy can coach, right? He can figure out how to minimize weaknesses and play to our strengths? He can make the team better than the sum of their parts? Jesus, I hope so....but until we see it, nobody really knows.
  20. I think they are. While they want to give Cruz every opportunity, they're ready to move on. Shepard is listed first on the depth chart and is getting all the reps.
  21. Funny, I was thinking the same thing! I don't want to name names....OK, it was Jim!
  22. Plus it's a lot (think I read $6M?) of dead cap space if they cut him this year. That said, if he can't play...or can't get open when he does, they might have to bite the bullet.
  23. Yeah and our rookie coach doesn't know your team's personnel and their strengths and weaknesses at all......oh wait......
  24. Agreed. Ideally you'd like the 1st pick to step in and contribute right away but the guys that could have done that were off the board when we were up. Next best option is best player available, who can be trained and ready when needed.....and in the NFL, that always seems to be sooner than you thought.
  25. True, of course. Also true that we were 8th in total offense and 6th in points per game, while on defense, we were dead last - 32nd - in total D and a lofty 30th in ppg.
