  1. He was battling injuries......and the QB might have had the same name & number but he sure wasn't the same guy as the year before. Ralph V is thinking along the same lines: https://www.sny.tv/giants/news/marshall-to-giants-could-be-big-win-for-both-sides/217808800
  2. I think he's grown a lot. He came to grips with his mental and emotional problems and got the help he needed....and he talked about it openly. I respected that a great deal. I also think last year's Jet locker room was a disaster, with malcontents and guys who checked out when things went bad. Marshall tried to show fight and leadership and it blew up in his face. My guess is, he'd be fine in the Giant environment. And with a cap friendly deal, you could still address other needs. Fair point that he's probably a two year solution but then again, that's about what we're counting on for Eli, too, right? Yes, we must upgrade the OL, so Eli can throw without somebody in his grill all the time but Brandon Marshall would give Eli and the passing game a huge, dare I even say dramatic, upgrade.
  3. Now that the Jets have released him, time to dust this thread off! He was only making $7.5M this year and he's never been in the playoffs - mostly train wrecks and circuses. I think he'd be amenable to a cap friendly deal to join a likely playoff team and class organization, without having to uproot his family. Go get him!
  4. Agree! Keep DRC! The guy who is likely gone here is Hankins.
  5. Heard on NFL radio the Giants hope to work out a long term deal for less than the $16.5M he'd get on the tag deal......but it isn't going to be much less. Supposedly, there are other teams lurking. Jags (and TC) have $71M to spend and DE is one of their most glaring needs.
  6. Tough call on JPP. The guy is still a force, absolutely dominating a few games and he makes Vernon even more dangerous on the other side. But with Okwara and Odiggy showing a lot of potential, you don't go $15+M per year for four or five years. If you can get him closer to $10M, I think I'd do it.
  7. Don't want to see DRC cut, though! The depth of quality DBs was a huge factor in Spag's schemes.
  8. This from Rotoworld..... NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Giants will "make a legitimate run" at impending free agent DE Jason Pierre-Paul "in the coming days and weeks." "They will try and get a deal done before he can potentially hit the free agent market," Garafolo continued. The Giants created $10 million in cap space by cutting Victor Cruz and Rashad Jennings on Monday, and they can create even more by getting rid of J.T. Thomas and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The Giants have already invested a significant chunk of cap space in a defensive line which boasts big-money free agents Olivier Vernon and Damon Harrison, but they should have the money to re-sign JPP if they so choose. 9. I was gonna say Spider Lockhart......or Jimmy Patton.
  10. Root Pats? You gotta be kidding. Pats are right up there with the Cowboys, a little ahead of the Jets, for teams that could NEVER lose enough or feel enough pain to suit me. Plus, it's the whole NFC/AFC thing. Go Falcons!
  11. AP, at this point in his career, wouldn't be any more productive than Perkins was without an upgrade to the OL. Pass.
  12. Yeah, Harris makes me nervous.
  13. Consider OBJ's workload, too. He's on the field for almost every offensive play. No matter how well conditioned he is, that will take a toll....and when you're fatigued, injury risk increases. And injury possibilities aside, you want him as fresh as possible when he goes out to his WR position. Once in a while, picking spots for him to return is fine. Making him the full time return guy could be a case of diminishing returns.
  14. Heard much the same thing about Spags and the defense last year. Amazing how much smarter he got this year, with an infusion of talent. Not saying some of the complaints about McAdoo's offense are without merit but getting upgrades at the positions we've been talking about all year - OL, TE, a blocking FB and another outside WR - would make him look a lot smarter, too. For my money, OL is #1 priority. Pugh and Richburg are fine. All the other spots along the OL, including TE, need some new blood in camp come July.
  15. Are those the plays where Rodgers has 8, 9 and 10 seconds back there? But again, we're talking play design as opposed to play calling. There's a difference.
  16. Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but I don't think it's the play calling as much as the play designs. Opposing defenses, I believe, were getting tipped off to what was being run by personnel groupings, formations and down and distance...and especially on running plays, as the article mentions. That's why SO many of our runs were buried before they got started. Also think the route trees our receivers ran were pedestrian and yes, vanilla. It's harder to beat your man in any assignment - blocking, running a route, whatever - if he has a pretty good idea, presnap, what you're doing. Of course, a subpar OL will limit how "creative" you can get. Let's not forget that factor.
  17. Ha! OK, I'll give you that one!
  18. You think Dallas would give you Martin for Beckham? In a heartbeat.
  19. In the last few years, Reese has drafted OBJ, traded up to draft Collins and stole Free Agent DRC out from under the Jets nose and signed FA's Jenkins, Vernon and Snacks this year....and every one of them is All Pro. Add to that the drafting of Shephard, Goodson and Perkins this year and you'd have to say he's had a pretty good run....just when many were calling for his scalp.
  20. We have DRC under contract for two more years. He's a UFA in 2019, when he's 32 years old. Jackrabbit has another four years and will be a UFA in 2021, when he's 32. Apple's rookie contract runs another 3 years, with a 4th year club option....when he'll be 24. Better save some cap space for that contract! But for the next two years, sit back and enjoy having three stud DBs, when the rest of the league struggles to find two, or even one in some cases.
  21. There was also a Kardashian. Please don't ask me which one.
  22. And guess what? The Jaguars are on our schedule next year. It's a home game.
