  1. That was my first thought.
  2. Recall last season, after the Week 8 bye, a few new faces started getting a lot more playing time, chiefly Perkins. Wouldn't be surprised to see a similar development curve with Engram this year.
  3. I agree that a lot hinges on Perkins. If he's a legit starting RB, a 1,000 yard guy (which is not the lofty benchmark it used to be but still significant), our O will be VERY hard to defend. Of course, as has been discussed ad nauseam, no RB can be effective if poorly blocked - or unblocked - defenders hit him the second he gets the ball, as happened all too often last year.
  4. From the film I've seen, Gallman has excellent initial burst and runs a little angry. Reminds me of Bradshaw in that way.
  5. Frankly, the DUI is a much more serious issue that a smidge of weed.
  6. God, I can't wait for training camp and shit that matters!
  7. I think our LBs are serviceable and they work well in Spag's D....but I get it that you want a stud, an all pro type back there and who wouldn't? Apparently, they wanted the guy who went to the Bears last year but when that didn't happen, they decided the guys they had were a better fit for their system than anyone else they could have picked in the later rounds. Looking at how the D has developed, maybe they're right. In this D, pass rush from front 4 and secondary are main staples. On some downs, there is only 1 LB on the field, other times, there are 2. Conversely, there are often 5 DBs or even 6. I'm sure they'd love to have a stud blitzing LB but again, who wouldn't? They don't just get delivered to your complex by Fed Ex. And I doubt Spags was banging on the table on draft day, screaming for an LB.
  8. I dunno.......two highly respected OL coaches, with two different styles, have gotten the same results. I'm encouraged that he's been at the facility working out all off season and hope the tumblers click into place in year #3 but there are a lot of scouts saying, "I told you so" after his first two years.
  9. Giants interest was like, "yeah, maybe...if he's cheap, I guess...". Don't think there's any hand wringing in East Rutherford this morning.
  10. Much ado about a mediocre running back. Didn't want him, glad he's an Eagle.
  11. I was always under the impression that things changed more (PSLs, parking prices through the roof) when Tisch bought in, rather than the younger Mara.
  12. This is an excellent spot for an undrafted WR to come into. The 4th and 5th WR's last year - Lewis and King - had 9 catches for 147 yards and 2 TD's between them. Those slots are wide open going into camp.
  13. I don't think the problem is the position (OL) coach. Both this guy and the guy before him are highly regarded throughout the league. At least that's what I read - but what do I - or any of us - really know? .I think Flowers, Jerry and Hart have been fair to poor at executing their assignments. However, I think this is at least partly due to the predictability of our plays. Our scheme has been limited. Opponents are able to read formation, personnel (almost always in 11), down & distance and field position tendencies and have a pretty good idea what's coming......and this is particularly true on the running plays. And when the guy you're trying to block knows what you're going to do before the snap, you can be made to look pretty bad. So I think it's mediocre players (at least so far. I harbor hope for Flowers), not being put in position to succeed but rather, being put in very difficult positions.
  14. Did you see what teams were paying to move up, even a few spots? To move up 5 spots at that point would have cost our #2 at least and maybe our 4th, too. I'm just as happy with the way it turned out.
  15. Yeah, got my hopes up there for a minute.... So who we hoping for now?
  16. Yup, thought Howard would be long gone. Are we close enough to consider trading up to get him?
  17. He'd be much less effective with us than running behind the Pats OL, against defenses more worried about Brady throwing the ball. I'm down with a physical back to share the carries with Perkins but I'd rather get younger. I honestly don't think there's much diff between Blount and Jennings.
  18. Please NO! We just got rid of another plodder in Jennings!
  19. Seems about right. I think making the playoffs - and dare I say it? Maybe even a home playoff game? - will come down to winning the three home division games in December.
  20. That Brantley tape is impressive. Noticed the play by play guys were calling him 6'2" but it seems he's grown an inch! For 300+ pounds though, he's pretty damn quick!
  21. Yeah, I know we've had some success down there but why can't we ever open at home?
  22. WTF is it with opening in Dallas every year? And it's the Sunday night game, too, which sucks IMO. 2017 GIANTS REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE: Week 1 (9/10): at Cowboys (Sunday Night Football) Week 2 (9/18): vs. Lions (Monday Night Football) Week 3 (9/24): at Eagles Week 4 (10/1): at Buccaneers Week 5 (10/8): vs. Chargers Week 6 (10/15): at Broncos (SNF) Week 7 (10/22): vs. Seahawks Week 8: Bye week Week 9 (11/5): vs. Rams Week 10 (11/12): at 49ers Week 11 (11/19): vs. Chiefs Week 12 (11/23): at Redskins (Thanksgiving Night) Week 13 (12/3): at Raiders Week 14 (12/10): vs. Cowboys Week 15 (12/17): vs. Eagles Week 16 (12/24): at Cardinals Week 17 (12/31): vs. Redskins
  23. I heard it's the Thanksgiving night game and it's in Washington. As a general rule of thumb, happy holiday environments and Giant football games are not a good mix. At least this is (reportedly) the night game, so it can't ruin the day. My problem will be that after two games and copious amounts of turkey and adult beverages, I am usually bleary eyed and see only bits and pieces of the night game, dozing through most of it. This will call for a radically different approach.
