  1. He says we need slot receivers and Tight Ends? Has he ever heard of Shepard and Engram? This guy is sometimes mildly amusing. More often than not, he's a loudmouth moron asshole. This is an example of the latter.
  2. I'll be happy with Barkley or Nelson, won't be unhappy with Chubb (but not thrilled). Will be physically ill, pissed and disgusted if we take one of these mediocre, franchise crippling QBs.
  3. God, that would suck.
  4. Give Eli a running game and more than 1.4 seconds to throw and you'll be surprised how much he suddenly "improves".
  5. Dez is done. So is Marshall. Don't want either one.
  6. If we don't come away from this draft with Barkley or Nelson, we'll regret it for years to come......just as we will if we DO come away with one of these over hyped, flawed QBs.
  7. I see the OL rebuild as FAR from done! Solder has been more good than bad and yes, he was the best option available and will certainly be an upgrade but he's not a Pro Bowl guy. Hopefully, he's solid but I don't think we can count on more than that. Omameh was one of the lowest graded OLs last year and the Panthers were desperate to replace him. I don't see how he's being looked at as an answer. My guess, he's no better than Jerry. This line still needs lots of work. This line needs Nelson!
  8. You've got maybe a 20% chance that a QB from this year's class will be a Pro Bowl caliber player, capable of winning road playoff games and taking you to the Super Bowl. Looks more like an 80% chance that Nelson will be a Pro Bowl anchor on the line for the next decade. I put Barkley's Pro Bowl probability a little lower - 70% - because RBs can be tricky (see: Trent Richardson) and are more vulnerable to injury. I just can't use the #2 overall pick on a 1 in 5 roll of the dice. And I don't care what position he plays, I'm good with the 80% guy at that spot. IF you can trade down and still get Nelson, great but I wouldn't get too cute and end up losing him. There are two blue chips here, You gotta come away with one of them!
  9. Ray Lewis Says Odell Beckham Jr. 'Removed God from His Life' JOSEPH ZUCKER APRIL 9, 2018 Michael Perez/Associated Press Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis offered a head-scratching assessment of Odell Beckham Jr.'s situation as doubt hovers around the wide receiver's future with the New York Giants. Speaking on FS1's The Herd with Colin Cowherd (h/t The Big Lead's Bobby Burack), Lewis said, "Where there's no God, there's chaos." Lewis added Beckham "has removed God from his life." Lewis went on to say he and Beckham talked back and forth earlier in his career but that the three-time Pro Bowler "started to distance himself a little more, a little more and a little more." Because of that, Lewis contends Beckham's commitment level has waned. It's not the first time the former linebacker has been critical of Beckham. Lewis was among many who called out Beckham after the infamous boat trip ahead of the Giants' 2017 NFC Wild Card Round defeat to the Green Bay Packers: ter Ads info and privacBeckham is coming off a 2017 season in which a fractured ankle limited him to four games. He finished with 25 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in March that Beckham was considering holding out until he received a new deal. But he reported to team facilities Monday as the Giants started their offseason workout program Monday, according to ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan. Beckham had been linked to a potential trade with the Los Angeles Rams, but Rapoport reported the combination of the Giants' asking price and the cost of an extension for Beckham turned the Rams off on the move. Raanan speculated the likeliest outcome is Beckham re-signing with the Giants, and an "extraordinary circumstance" would be required for Beckham to go elsewhere after the 2018 season.
  10. I don't watch much college ball so I only know what I read and hear......and there are just too damn many people writing and saying that this is a mediocre crop of QBs. From friends who are Pac 10 grads and have seen Darnold and Rosen a lot to almost every talking head on Sirius NFL Network, I haven't heard anybody say these are likely Pro Bowl caliber QBs. Draft one of them and I think there's a 20% chance they rise to say, the Matt Ryan level and an 80% chance they turn out to be the Tannehil/Bortles level....not terrible, show some flashes but not going to put a team on their shoulders and carry them to the top. And we're going to watch this play out for five years. Barkley and Nelson have a near 100% chance to be Pro Bowl players. I'd rather have the sure thing building block than roll the dice on a "maybe".
  11. Just because Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, et al are the best QBs in this draft doesn't mean they are Eli, Big Ben and Rivers - far from it! This year's QBs are all flawed and taking any of them with a high pick would be a mistake that will set your franchise back 5 years. I will become physically ill if the Giants take one of them. Barkley and Nelson are the only two "sure things" in this draft and it would be a shame not to come away with one of them. If we can trade down and grab Nelson, then come back and get Michel in the 2nd round, I'd be a happy guy......but I fear we'll trade down, only to have someone else trade up and swipe Nelson from under our nose.
  12. Yeah, not even close to believing. Elicited a chuckle, not a gasp! But Happy Easter/Passover, anyway!
  13. If reports are true that Odell will sit out until (beyond?) the season opener if he doesn't get $20M or some number like that, I think it's time to move on. That said, I would not trade him for mid 1st round picks, where you're just as likely to get Erik Flowers or Eli Apple as you are to find another Odell. No, I want to know exactly what I'm getting. For instance, If we could get a package that included the Browns #4 overall and we could get Barkley and Nelson, I'd do it right now. I'd use more picks and whatever we can afford in Free Agency to further bolster the OL and grab another receiver (and remember, we still have Shepard and Engram, so we're not completely bereft in that department) and more help on D. This would mean transitioning to a different type of offense - a running game! Imagine that! - but ultimately, we'd be more effective and better off in the long run.
  14. Absolutely correct that this is an unconfirmed rumor......but it concerns me that there has been no further comment from Odell's camp. No denial, no setting the record straight. You can bet the Giants have checked or are in the process of checking the accuracy of this report. Here are the possible outcomes: A) Report is accurate but Giants are ready to give him the contract he wants. B) Report is accurate but Giants think Odell will soften demands (highest paid WR) and they can work something out before camp that both sides can live with. C) Report is accurate and Giants won't give him what he wants, will let him sit out OTA's & camp, figuring he'll come back for regular season games, rather than sit out the year. D) Report is accurate, Giants aren't willing to pay or live with option C above, say it's time to move on, trade him. E) Report is false, no problem. A would send the wrong message to team and would be a colossal mistake. Best outcome would be E, of course but I have little confidence of that. B is a little more likely but if not, I'd opt for D before C.
  15. Jack disappeared very suddenly, didn't he? I mean he was here, making many incredibly stupid posts, day after day, then.......nothing. Anyone know what happened to him? Was he banned?
  16. Odell either refuses to listen to anybody or he's getting bad, make that horrible, advice. Let's review: Coming off an injury/lost season, he gets in the news (again) for a video showing half naked women (not a problem) and drugs (problem). No proof of wrongdoing but certainly a bad look. This draws a warning from the owner that patience is wearing thin and it's really, REALLY time to cut the shit. That's NOT the moment you issue an ultimatum, saying you won't "step foot on a field" before getting a new contract making him the highest paid WR in history! OK, we don't know if that report is accurate but I notice there's been no rush to correct that statement. If true, it's almost like he's daring ownership to trade him.
  17. You sure that dead $$ is this year? Coulda sworn Bruce Murray and James Lofton, on Sirius, said the Giants actually save $2M this year but get hit with $15M dead money next year.
  18. According to Sirius NFL Network, this leaves us with $15M in dead cap $$ next year. That's bad......but if this is setting the stage for Chubb, that's fucking awful.
  19. With you, Nem but I think we're the only ones beating that drum. I could live with Barkley, would be disappointed at trade down and would be scared shitless that a QB would be a bust, setting us back 5 years.

If you mean west coast of Fla, yes, I'm in Punta Gorda. Mikmak is down here, too? Doing our best to turn it blue!
  21. I actually thought he'd get a little more. Guess he took a little less money for more years.
  22. Even the Giants aren't sure it'll be Flowers at RT. He was told he's moving to the right side and "the best five OL's will play", so that shows how "highly" they think of Flowers. Jones was our Center last year, so no change there. He's likely a middle of the road Center, which makes him look pretty good on this line. The Guards, as of today, are still bottom feeders. That adds up to maybe a better brand of lousy - maybe. Sorry to be so negative here but I'm sorely disappointed so far. I need Nelson to make me feel better!
  23. Yeah, Solder is an upgrade over Flowers. That's a pretty low bar......and as I said yesterday, Solder's been both pretty good and pretty bad at different times, so him being a consistent, solid LT for us is no slam dunk, even though he's getting paid like it is. But the Omameh signing is just effing awful. Yes, I know we're not winning the Super Bowl this year, so save your cap money for players who can help you get better. You don't commit three years to a journeyman caliber player the Panthers were desperate to replace! The whole line needed an upgrade. We've probably achieved that at LT. The rest is just as bad. The line needs some beef, not more hamburger helper.
  24. You gotta be kidding! For Christ Sake, WHY????? I doubt he's any better than what we have. This is very depressing. We're rolling the dice that we get the good Solder and not the one who stunk it up much of last year and now we add a documented dumpster guy and commit to him for three years?????? Eli might decide to retire after all.
