  1. Since the Bears pick in the 4th round was 3 or 4 picks before ours, we would have had to offer our 3rd rounder to move up that one spot.
  2. I wanted Tunsil but can't argue the need or wisdom of taking a DB...and the kid WILL play a lot this year, as the nickel corner, who has to cover the slot receiver....and as Pdub says, that's 60-65% of defensive snaps (and Blue, Collins can't play that spot. He's more of a SS than a cover corner). He's got size, plays physically, runs a 4.4 and he's only 20 years old. Leave a little room for the possibility that the Giant coaches can take it from there and he actually might be good before we condemn this pick out of hand. We'll never know, of course but I think they were set to take Floyd before the Bears leapfrogged them and then they couldn't find a trade down deal that they liked, so took the highest ranked played left on the Board. Yes, they had Apple above Hargreaves.
  3. Good. I was wondering what the hold up was. 30 for 32 on FGs, including 8-10 from 40-49 and 3-3 50+, is fine by me. Also note opponent's kick return average was 20.3. Ours was 24.9. I couldn't find average starting position (anybody?) but there was definite improvement over past years, attributable largely to Brown and Harris.
  4. Agreed. I wanted Okung to play RT but he got LT$$ ...and at that price, no thanks. Still, we have two holes to fill on the OL.
  5. yeah, that surprised me, too......but I guess, in today's dollars, he's worth closer to that than we would have thought. I'd rather spend, say, 14M on Malik Jackson or maybe 13M on O Vernon. Would also shell out for Trevathan & Gipson. Prefer to stay away from the over 30 "former Pro Bowler" type.
  6. Pass on Mario. Too much money for a guy whose best days are in the past.
  7. Agree with Gipson, value of vet presence (esp for Collins) and most importantly, get one of them!
  8. Before being put on IR after Week 13 this year (against his wishes) he hadn't missed a game since 2009 - Played all 16 games, racking nice numbers, for 5 straight years. IR this year was more about his running feud with the Chargers than an actual injury. See below. When you think about it, after being in SD for all these years, could he walk into a better place than here? Flagship, classy franchise, NYC market...and they need a safety. Could be attractive to him. For the right price, I'm interested. On December 20, 2015, Weddle stayed out during halftime to watch his daughter perform in the halftime show.[13] The Chargers were playing the Miami Dolphins.[13] Weddle did not ask permission to remain on the sideline to watch his daughter.[13] He did not show up in the locker room.[13] Team spokesman Bill Johnston said that it is mandatory for all players to be in the locker room during halftime.[13] As a result, Weddle was fined $10,000 dollars.[13] Weddle's agent, David Carter, said he planned to file a grievance with the NFL Players Association.[13] Weddle said that he felt disrespected by the way things were handled.[13] He had previously skipped voluntary workouts last offseason to show his displeasure with the Chargers not willing to give him a contract extension.[13] Furthermore, Weddle was placed on injured reserve with a groin issue on December 28, 2015.[13] This occurred against his wishes
  9. Not young (31) but has some miles left. Could be a good mentor for Collins, too. Without knowing how much and how many years he wants, I'd definitely take a long look here. Chargers won't tag Eric Weddle, who likely wouldn't have signed anywayBy Jared Dubin | Staff Writer February 19, 2016 7:38 pm ET We can make it official now: Eric Weddle will not be back with the San Diego Chargers next season. General manager Tom Telesco told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the team will not be using the franchise tag this year, which will make it the fifth consecutive year the Chargers have not used the tag. Weddle, who would have received around $11 million under the tag, was the most likely candidate, but that will not be happening. "I don't foresee any scenario in which we'll use the franchise tag," Telesco said. And since Weddle has no intention of signing with the Chargers long-term (he said inJanuary that he probably won't even speak to them ever again), his time with the team is now all but done. Weddle, 31, has been with San Diego for his entire nine-year NFL career. He has made three Pro Bowls and also been named first-team All-Pro twice. During his career, Weddle ranks fourth among safeties in Pro Football Reference's Approximate Value, which attempts to assign a single number to every player season since 1950. In other words, Weddle is really good. There are plenty of teams that will need safety help this offseason, and considering his play in 2015, Weddle likely has plenty left in the tank. He should have no shortage of suitors. Eric Weddle is moving on from the only NFL home he has ever known. (USATSI)
  10. Agreed. If you have three better players at TE, fine, cut him....but don't overlook the possibility that he's not a finished product yet, that the year invested in coaching and development will yield an improved player.
  11. You really had to do that? Like we haven't suffered enough already?
  12. Does anybody else find it strange that an NFL player, a big, strong athletic guy, with a considerable bank account, has to meet women online?
  13. A lot of one and two year stops and his most recent job with the Rams ended in a Week 13 firing. Hope to hell McAdoo sees/knows something that doesn't show up in the resume. This from today's NY Post: Cignetti, who was the Rams’ offensive coordinator last season before being fired, was a coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania when McAdoo was a student at the school. Cignetti, who was the offensive coordinator at Rutgers in 2011, was fired after a 27-3 loss to the Cardinals in Week 13. The Rams’ offense finished the season ranked last in the league. Cignetti, Eli Manning’s new position coach, will take over for Mike Sullivan, who is expected to be promoted to offensive coordinator. “It was, in my estimation, time to move in a different direction,” Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said at the time. “[All of] the blame’s not to fall on [Cignetti’s] shoulders, but it’s the way this business works.’’ Before taking over as the Rams’ offensive coordinator, Cignetti spent three years as the team’s quarterbacks coach. He has also been the offensive coordinator with California (2008), Pittsburgh (2009-2010) and Rutgers (2011). Like McAdoo, Cignetti also has ties to Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, serving as a graduate assistant with McCarthy at Pittsburgh in 1989.
  14. Don't think V Davis is an upgrade V Davis is over Tye at this point - one going up, one going down...and the one going down will cost more money. But absolutely need depth and competition at the TE spot going into camp.
  15. And yet, which team do they least want to play in a high stakes game? A Pat fan friend freely admits to me that the Giants are in the heads of the Pats and their fans.
  16. Am I the only one who's like, ENOUGH, ALREADY!!!!!!!
  17. I'm with you. These guys can win if you give them starting caliber NFL players. Heat's on Reese.
  18. Credit to Mikmak for not coming here and talking trash when he had the opportunity. He showed some class in refraining.
  19. I am so fucking sick of seeing Pete Carroll jump around with glee when he lucks out because the opposition screwed up! I had Seattle winning and covering in my pool yesterday but as soon as I saw Petey Boy on the sideline, I couldn't help but root for the Vikes.
  20. That Palmieri gets around, doesn't he?
  21. Bingo. Great guy, fine player. Just couldn't stay healthy.
  22. Absolutely. Way too classy for Philadelphia, I hope.
  23. I was rooting Cincy because I picked them in a pool and when it ended, it felt vaguely familiar, like I'd seen it say, four times this year......
