BlueInCanada
Oh Getty, if all they are asking for is a second round pick. I say let it fly. Get this guy on the team, simply because Gruden doesnt like it, Gruden is probably the worst judge in QB talent the NFL has ever seen.
Nas
Why though? Behind what oline? Why fuck up your relationship with the guy behind center who hasnt missed a game since we drafted him... the man whos been a class act through and through? And why fuck your chance to draft your next franchise qb with a few meaningless wins..
Sephiroth
I have to admit I'm not surprised that Gruden shows up and suddenly their franchise QB is ruined.

Because you then dont have to draft a franchise QB for a while and rebuild with him and actually field some competitive teams. You still use your first round pick and even trade a guy for another to build the Oline. What do people want on this team? A QB who isnt regressing and a Oline. What can they do when they trade for Carr and draft the best Oline player with their first round pick? Solve both problems. What do they do if they draft a rookie with the first and use the second on an Oline player? Get a rookie QB sitting behind Eli/some FA Vet/Tanney, and a not as impact Oline player. So you're saying a young exciting player (and mobile) QB like Carr who doesnt have a cap higher than Eli's isnt going to excite the fans? And what has Eli done at all to warrant staying in the line up? People were calling for him to be benched for fucking Webb last year, what's the difference for benching for Carr? Nothing. People want change, this is change in a positive way. Keeping Eli in the starting line up accomplishes nothing, actually trading for a guy you think you can win with so he can start learning the ins and out before the off season, why not? lol this board was screaming for Eli to be benched in every game day thread, yet you mention an actual change for it "OHHHH NOOOOO THE DRAFT POSITION AND ELIS PRIDE!!!!" Herc
Not my favorite route to take seeing as how hes paid and i am not sure what his ceiling is at this point, but fuck it if they did it Id get on board. These skill position guys are being wasted right now

Carr Im not sure of... strikes me like that qb we had in sb 2000... Collins.
boohyah
Raiders had it turned around and they found a way to fuck it up again. Carr is decent, and if you could get him I'd be fine with it. It would allow us to address the line in the draft. It's not the worst idea in the world.

Yeah he was a good value but not world beater.... we need a franchise qb for the next decade.
UK-Giantsfan
i wonder if we can still get Teddy Bridgewater in the Off Season ? ......hes only 25 ( then fully concentrate our Draft efforts on the O line )
CrazedDogs
I haven't watched enough of Carr to have much of an opinion on him as a player. But if I recall, the reason he fell to the 2nd round had to do with having an older brother who washed out of the NFL. I think the measurables - big arm, mobile - were all there. Sephiroth
Not for nothing, but didn't Carr just sign a gazillion-dollar contract? I know his cap hit for the year is 25 mil but not sure how much of that we'd have to eat.

CrazedDogs
Gruden is probably the worst judge in QB talent the NFL has ever seen. I'm curious why you say this. He worked with one of the greatest ever - Rich Gannon.
BlueInCanada
I'm curious why you say this. He worked with one of the greatest ever - Rich Gannon He's known as this "QB guru" yet when he was in TB he didnt develop a single QB there to anything more then a couple year starter, despite drafting and acquiring numerous young QBs. King, Simms, Griese(sp), Johnson, who else? Grada something. He hit gold with Gannon with the Raiders but has never followed it up with the same performance in the slightest. Now he's running Carr out of town, and will probably draft another QB and destroy his career as well. I just never understood why Gruden has been known as a "QB" coach when it's arguably the worst performance out of any position when he's been the HC of a team. CrazedDogs
Nah Carr will be 28 by next season, Justin Herbert 21. Give me Herbert Just watched Herbert closely for the first time tonight, in his loss against Wash. St. He'll definitely be a very high pick. Reminds me a ton of Josh Allen, a bit more slightly built, almost the same kind of arm strength. More arm talent though, he was getting the ball out accurately at all arm angles, with wacky feet positioning - in terms of the 2018 QB class, in that respect he's more like Darnold.
