Zelmo
"hearing a younger version of Manning is on the way won't provide a lot of comfort for Giants fans eager to see a new direction at quarterback." Classic mob mentality, since it's in vogue to dump on Eli we'll just write nonsense. Every Giant fan would love to hear that a younger version of Manning is on the way. If hes as smart, and can throw as well, hes gonna be better than Eli. The kid is fast too. Ive seem him out run corners to the end zone

BronxRik
The phrase is "under the hood", meaning the "mechanics" of something. I'm sure he just misspoke. Or....he could know something we all don't.

To be fair though, Eli has been a mid range QB in terms of every metric to measure a QB, expect one, SB wins, he's never been a league leader (expect in INTs) and was never regarded as a top level talent. Jones has the ability to be even better than Manning and honestly that won't take to much more to do than what Eli even at his best did.

Mr. P
Or like EAs scouting report on Eli said: Two things set him apart: his left testicle and his right testicle. Can Jones do what Eli did in San Fran in 2011? Etc etc.
BlueInCanada
Hopefully hes got that clutch gene. Yeah I should of said that's probably the most elite thing about Eli. The guy doesn't get fazed in the slightest. Not many QBs have had that trait.

BlueInCanada
Still my favorite Eli game. I just kept waiting in horror for the fumble and it never came Honestly, my favourite Eli game was in 2006, week 2. Giants were down 21 points in going into the fourth quarter. Javon Kearse already had like 5 sacks that game, and Eli was just getting beat up. Came back to win the game in OT with a pass to Plax that was a mirror image of the winner in the SB. Was that the game they had to carry Toomer off the field? He was exhausted or dehydrated or something?
BlueInCanada
Was that the game they had to carry Toomer off the field? He was exhausted or dehydrated or something? Yeah he set a Giants record at the time with 12 catches? I think it was that game. Had like two TDs as well. Forgot how much of a player was, need to go order me another Toomer jersey now. A mid range QB compared among the elite and he was certainly regarded as a top level talent. We could talk about stats all day or weeks worth of highlight footage of Eli Manning at QB for the last 16 years.
BlueInCanada
A mid range QB compared among the elite and he was certainly regarded as a top level talent. We could talk about stats all day or weeks worth of highlight footage of Eli Manning at QB for the last 16 years. That's the thing though, I mean stats wise he was an average QB, what set him apart was the ability to never get rattled in a game and the countless fourth quarter comebacks, the guy is built out of steel. I mean it's not a knock against him, the Giants don't have that great of a history at the QB position and Eli stands far and away the best of them all. I just mean if we are talking about Jones being the same as Eli or better it's not a stretch of the imagination that he could easily be simply because all Jones has to be is slightly better than average to do so. And win two SBs lol

MakeMeSomeFoodHo
Who knows what Jones will be...he might thrive in shurmurs system is he might bust. Next year's draft class is full of qb prospects so if they don't think this is the guy and the Giants have a top ten pick, they'll get another one

No way we're even having a sniff of another QB till then. Eli is sitting once this team is eleminated from the playoffs, or if there is some horrible start like they go 2-6 in the first 8 games. The media is already rolling back their expert opinions based on breaking down 8 minute pusha t soundtracked YouTube film on his weak arm strength. It's funny how fast opinions change in the media. Pre draft: "Giants need to get a QB, any QB" Post drat: "Not that QB" Jets fire their GM: "Maybe the Giants arent that crazy" OTAs: "Some of these new pieces are looking really good so far, and Jones just threw another bomb downfield"
