boohyah
This is payback for us getting Dave Thomas from them in 1999. Much too much fucking payback mind you. Good luck to Ross, did well in the Superbowl year, but it's been a slow decline since.
JMFP
Aaron Ross was a good corner. Hopefully T2 will get healthy, and Prince will grow into his role as well.

osi724dasack
I think Prince will have a good season. Same Plus we got Bruce Johnson, Michael Coe, Brian Witherspoon, and Justin Tryon to compete for the 4th and 5th CB spot.

Like it's been mentioned, the loss of Ross and Manningham can be absorbed by guys already on the team...or at least the team thinks so. What I'm trying to say is that the Giants are prepared to replace Manningham with Jernigan or Barden and replace Ross with Prince. Now, if either of those guys don't step up into the role they've been drafted for, it's a problem. But the team has made the appropriate steps/decisions to put themselves in position to move on without them. Same might be able to be said about Goff, but to a lesser extent. Jacobs release is the one that I don't know that we're really all that prepared for.

gmenroc
I think that's what will happen...no one is going to pay Jacobs what he wants. Even if teams beat the Giants offer, they'll have to beat it enough to get Jacobs convinced moving him and his family is worth it. Now, if that other team is the Jets, then that's obviously a moot point. But yeah, seeing no interest at all in Jacobs to this point, it's easy to jump to the conclusion he'll be back in blue. Then again, FA RBs are only starting to garner interest/visits.
Bigblue25
I see a mixed bag of opinions on Ross, to me he was awful, and I am not sure where this...he played well in the playoffs stuff comes from? Julio Jones had 7 receptions on him in the Atlanta game. That draft was not mediocre, 12 guys out of the first round are pro bowlers and there is alot more in the later rounds. Yes the draft was overshadowed by how bad the QB's were, but besides that, it was a solid draft.

To me, that's an excellent game for a corner. Roddy White had 5 for over 10 yards a reception. So what's your feelings on Corey Webster? Because that isn't a bad game, either. Ross played real well down the stretch and during the playoffs.
Nas
Ross played well at times but gave me a lot of heartburn. Not knocking the dude he was a decent corner who really sucked at times.

I just think he currently is better than Prince and leaps and bounds above any of the other scrubs.
gmenroc
I just think he currently is better than Prince and leaps and bounds above any of the other scrubs. As of today, I'd agree. By the time the season rolls around, I think Prince will be ready. But even if Prince is not as good as Ross was, one, I think he will be eventually and two, the dropoff from Ross to Prince in the short-term is not so significant as to cause a need to pay Ross what he got from the Jags. Steitzenhaus
Good for Aaron. He was a part of two championship teams and now he gets paid. After the first two weeks of this past season looked like it was going to be a long year for him but he straightened out a bit and made some key plays. For a first round pick, perhaps he was a bit underwhelming especially with the injuries but by no means was he a bust.

He shut down an ultra slow Plex, but the week before got destroyed by Gaffney. He was way too inconsistent and I think Prince became better down the stretch. Treehugger
I don't know how you can judge individual performances in that Fewell-schemed secondary, especially in the first half of the season. Almost every big play given up looked like it was a direct result of confusion between safety and CB.
Gman329
Think what you will of Ross but did anybody think he would get a bigger contract on the open market than Maningham?
NightFire
Think what you will of Ross but did anybody think he would get a bigger contract on the open market than Maningham? I am not really that surprised. Considering a UFA vaulted past him on the roster could not have helped him. One big catch in the SB I don't think overly impresses teams. CrazedDogs
How did he prove to be an idiot? Lets see... There were a couple incidents in his college days. There was his score on the Wonderlic at the NFL Combine. Then there was what we saw on the field for the last three years, where if there was a wrong route run by a Giant, it was surely Manningham. I remember the knock on him when he was drafted... basically, the guy was supposed to be some sort of football idiot savant. And that he was.
