  1. You've definitely brought up some valid points. And perhaps it's just wishful thinking on my part. I'm giving it a 60/40 chance he stays, and my "logic" goes like this: I'm probably missing a few head coaches, but if memory serves, Marty Schottenheimer, Norv Turner, Steve Spurrier, and even the immortal Joe Gibbs have tried and failed under Dan Snyder ["failed" might be too harsh a judgment on Gibbs, but you get the idea]. I'm sure before he pulls the trigger, Spag's will look at what is offered, versus the situation he is leaving, and then make a decision. If the decision is based upon money alone, then the Redskins job would probably be a done deal. Nobody throws money around like Snyder. But if Spags makes his decision based upon which organization will best prepare him to be a successful NFL head coach, then you've got to think he is going to stay with the Giants. To Snyder, Spags is just another hot commodity, to be used, retained, or discarded. To the Giants, he's the next Bill Belichick, or at the very least, John Fox. We both know that the Maras were considering dumping Fassel to retain Fox....and Fox's defense got pounded by a mediocre Ravens club. What length would they go to keep Spags? A lot of this will hinge on Coughlin's mindset. I expect the situation with Coughlin to turn much more complicated given the Spags situation. I'm only going off what I've seen and read about the guy, but you've got to think that Coughlin would be honest with ownership concerning his future. In other words, I would expect him to tell Mara, Tisch, and Reese if he would accept a senior position in the front office after he gets tired of coaching. In a best case scenario, Coughlin gets a boatload of cash, and coaches two more seasons, and then hands it over to Spags. Of course, that just might not be the way the Giants operate. But I know for sure that they regret losing Belichick and Fox. But then again, they might figure Coughlin can get an adequate replacement. All of this begs the question, though - how much of the defensive effort was Spags, and how much should be credited to Coughlin and the players? Not to take anything away from Spags - I've had a mancrush on him since I heard his defensive philosophy - but it's not like the Giants all of a sudden learned how to play defense. How much credit should go to Accorsi, who hit homeruns with Osi, Tuck, Wilson, Kiwinuka, and Webster, and signed Pierce? Or Reese, who nailed it with Kawika Mitchell and Aaron Ross? How much credit goes to Coughlin for finding a bright young coach who shared his hard-nosed defensive philosophy? Is it fair to compare the systems of Johnson and Spags, and look at the respective personnel of the Eagles and Giants? Will the system fall apart, will the defense forget what it's been taught, do we have any assistants that can take his place. Just a ton of questions. Following the amazing upset of the Patriots, it just goes to show that in the NFL, there is only one certainty - Dan Snyder is a douche bag.
  2. Yeah what a douche. Tuck, Osi, Kiwi..... nothing but salary cap issues. Oh yeah, and nice job picking your replacement too. Thanks to Reese, we've got to figure out how many carries Bradshaw is going to need.
  3. Your avatar seriously frightened me.
  4. This is like the 1000th example this season of how the sports media doesn't know jack shit when it comes to the NY Giants. The rap on Burress was always "Plexiglass".... not tough enough, quitter, etc. Turns out the guy should have been out 4-6 weeks.
  5. Not sure if already posted...didn't see it anywhere.
  6. Very true. I think it will come down to this - Mara and Tisch will advise Spags that he'll become the next head coach of the Giants if he stays.
  7. I think now that Eli is the MVP it will totally change the equation. In the past, Eli deferred to guys like Tiki and Shockey because they were veterans, and Eli is a respectful guy. Now, Eli is the undisputed leader of the offense. And since Shockey was on the outside looking in (or, in the case of the last night, on the inside looking out), the point doesn't need to be made. So, if Shockey is moaning for the ball, he can basically STFU. Having said that, I still like Shockey alot, and think he's a great player. I'm sure after this season, he'll be grateful to be on a winner. He is now a Super Bowl veteran - that's got to help his demeanor. I would definitely consider trading Shockey for another impact player. Would love to have a hard-hitting safety to complement Gibril Wilson, for example. But unless we can get a proven starter, or else a very good (ie. 2nd-3rd round) pick for him, I don't want the Giants to pull the same shit that the Raiders and Miami did.
  8. He's the same sort of jerk off that would sit in a boat with a net, and wait for a Barry Bonds home run.
  9. Yeah, that was intense. That was such a huge, huge, series. I really thought that was one of most pivotal points of the game. That game had so many huge moments, it was insane.
  10. Thanks man. For the record, I always root for the NFC v AFC.
  11. I would favor a "Sportswrath Tribal Council" to consider whether to keep BadEgg, but as penance, require an appropriate banner until the next Cowboys-Giants game.
  12. Well, I'll take back what I said in a prior post. I didn't expect you back. I also recall you saying that if the Giants won that you'd leave forever. So, I'll take this as your "goodbye topic." To quote the great Fred Sanford..... "So long....
  13. I'm just happy that the Giants and Eli Manning are now woven into the Dolphins perfect legacy. Because now, whenever a team gets to 10-0, you know they'll be talking about the Dolphins and rewinding that SB42.
  14. That mouthy bitch is long gone. EDIT: He actually showed up....I stand corrected. Now let's see if he keeps his word and banishes himself forever.
  15. I loved when Pierce brought up the 18-1 in his post-game comments. That dude loves making people eat their words.
  16. THAT'S RIGHT, BADEGG......FIELD, FUCKING, DAY, BABY!!!!!!!
  17. Sometimes I'm so right on the money it's downright embarrassing.
  18. Ahmad Bradshaw - 200+ all purpose yards.
  19. Sarcasm - refuge of the unoriginal. Disappointing, to say the least. Yeah, I'm brilliant. Let me know if you need some tutoring, so you can finally add that G.E.D. to your resume.
  20. If I were a player, I'd talk so much bullshit it would be embarrassing.
  21. "Mind if we dance with your dates?"
  22. Your point of reference is a cold night in the Meadowlands in a meaningless game for the Giants. My reference point is the playoffs, most notably, performances at Tampa and Dallas. Your conventional, inside-the-box thinking reminds me of the assorted ESPN talking heads that "boldly" predicted that the Cowboys offensive line would handle the G-Men. And we all know how that turned out. Give Spagnuolo credit - he learned from his 2 losses to the Cowboys, and his loss to the Packers. Chances are, he'll look at the Patriots game and come to similar conclusions on how to defend against Brady. And judging from the Jacksonville game, it won't be a strategy to let Brady sit back there and go 26-28. He's going to dial up the pressure, especially if Brady has a gimpy ankle.
