    Dude!

It's hard to compare the Shockey in Seph's pic to the "football" Shockey, since he's out of uniform, and clean-shaven. Here's the closest I've been able to find so far of a clean-shaven Shockey not in pads.
  2. I'm willing to listen to anyone that would argue that another QB deserves to be ranked above Dilfer at #7. Certainly, "diminishing skills" needs to be considered. Yesterday's champion is not today's champion. Everyone likes to rag on Dilfer, but he did a great job in the biggest game of his career - certainly that carries a great deal of weight. It's also interesting to see how the Raven franchise has fared since they released him - to date, they've been a massive disappointment, and "offensive genius" Brian Billick has been canned. Again, I suspect your assessment is driven more by stats than accomplishments.
  3. Typical whining Masshole attitude. The referees clearly set the tone for the game early on - no ticky-tack penalties, let the team that wants it more win the game. If the refs are going to allow a loose game in the 1st quarter, there is no way they will tighten it up in the 4th quarter, especially with under 2:00 to go. Bottom line, both teams understood how the refs were calling the game. Lord knows if the Patriots had won, I would have been disappointed, but I wouldn't be blowing up screen shots and preparing a power point presentation on how many times the NE line grabbed Giant jerseys.
  4. You say you are not taking away from what Manning did in the postseason, but you are not giving it any weight, either. All joking aside, my point is that regular season performance pales in comparison to the postseason. Doug Williams had a tremendous year during his SB run, and played an incredible game, so yeah, if you asked me during that season how he should be ranked, I'd say at the very top. Let's take Carson Palmer - supposedly a "great" QB, but what did he accomplish this season, other than gaudy stats and a losing record? What about Hasselbeck of the Seahawks?.....he flat out sucked against the Packers, in conditions far better than what Eli played in. Favre was outplayed by Manning, Romo was likewise inferior on the big stage, and Garcia as well. I haven't checked the stats, but please, someone out there name another QB that took his team to the playoffs his first three full seasons as a starter, and then won the Super Bowl and was named MVP when he was in his 4th year in the league. I'm pretty sure the list includes maybe Troy Aikman and Joe Montana. Here's my unscientific method of ranking QB's, in order of importance Super Bowl victories Super Bowl appearances Playoff appearances Regular season wins Regular season stats That's pretty much it.... people can throw out Trent Dilfer and Dan Marino as the two extremes, and perhaps the exception to the rule. Dan Marino was a clear case of a fantastic QB who deserved a lot better. For most of his career, he had a shit-defense and a mediocre running game. You can say the same about Dan Fouts. But then again, life's not fair. That's why the NFL Hall of Fame is such a great idea - to reward tremendous players. And say what you want about Dilfer, but the guy was the consumate game manager, and that counts too. In this ESPN-age, we glorify the gunslingers, but forget that guys like Bart Starr and Bob Griese did a pretty damn good job at the position too. Here's my ranking: #1 - Tom Brady #2 - Brett Favre #3 - Peyton Manning #4 - Eli Manning #5 - Ben Rothlisberger #6 - Kurt Warner #7 - Trent Dilfer #8 Brad Johnson #9 on down - everyone based on playoff appearances, etc., as noted above. Brad Johnson is arguable - I don't even know what team he's on now, so he could even be dropped off the list. Kurt Warner would rank at the top, except I think he's past his prime.
  5. I don't think I'll ever get tired of that play.
  6. Excellent analysis, dog.....everyone knows that regular season statistics are the true measure of a great QB. 4th Quarter against a Belichick defense????.....that's irrelevant. The true crucible is week 3 v. the Houston Texans!

    Dude!

    That's awesome, man.
  8. Robbins, Cofield, and Alford do a good job, but another lineman might be needed whenever Strahan retires. But I'm with you regarding the safety position.....I'd love to get a guy like Landry in DC (but without the punk-ass attitude).
  9. Tynes used to drive me crazy, and then that 47 yarder in Green Bay wiped all my bitterness away. I'm fine with him now.
  10. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr...fourth_and_won/ I still can't believe we won that game.
  11. I always mess that name up.
  12. I agree, Johnson is a good player.....I'd just like to see some more depth at the safety position. I'd love to get a disruptive DT too. I was clamoring for a LB all last year heading into the draft. I like DeOssie, but I agree LB is something we need to look at. Although I was very impressed with Gerris Wilkerson too. Another position we should look at is the offensive line, just for depth. Getting another road-grading guard across from Snee would be huge; Seubert is one of my favorite players, but I'd like to see us keep that offensive line young and deep, too.
  13. Very very cool.....I was wondering whether the ball hit the ground or not. I've got to say that the referees did a tremendous job calling the entire game. That one play was a perfect example of what can happen when the refs let the players decide the game. The most exciting play ever in SB history, and definitely one of the most exciting SB's ever.
  14. Yeah, definitely Ross! With respect to the draft, I'd love to get a really solid safety to complement Wilson. Nothing against Butler or Johnson, but I'm sure a fast, hard-hitting safety that can play the run and the pass would be something high on Spag's list. Reese did such a tremendous job patching the holes in the lineup last year.....now we can focus on building depth and planning for the future.
  15. I totally agree. That slip wasn't a big deal - that's something that happens to every corner at some point. Ever since that Buffalo game, he's been playing terrific. He did a great job against Galloway, Owens, Driver, and Moss - including perfect flypaper coverage on those two Brady-Moss bombs at the very end. I forget who said it (was it Lombardi?)......"if you see it, it's there." Webster was a great man-cover guy at LSU, then was injured, then was a rookie under a douche-bag DC, and finally regained his stroke under Spags. I'd like to get another corner in the draft to add some depth, especially since McQuarters and Madison are aging, but I really like Webster and Moss.
  16. Could it be that they really do need Charlie Weis?
  17. Check out the Giant fan decked out in full regalia. Even though he's obviously bombed, his drunken rambling proves prophetic (around 2:11). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MRX62Qx6TY
  18. Yeah....that little girl spooked the shit out of me.
  19. That's painting with a broad brush my friend. I mean, look at me.....I'm a Yankee fan, and I'm probably the smartest, coolest guy I know.
  20. I'm sure you'll see some Tyree and Manning jerseys at the next Red Sox - Yankees game. What's the line on when we'll hear the first "18-1" chant?
  21. Typical Masshole reaction. Sure, let's fire the guy that has given the franchise 3 Lombardi trophies. Let's face it, the Pats were a laughingstock until a Parcells and Belichick turned them around. If Belichick were fired, he'd be out of a job for 30 seconds.
