  1. I think bad weather conditions actually favor the offense, to the extent that defenders need to be reactive, and therefore, poor conditions create slower reaction times. The exception to this is wind, which completely screws the passing game (see: Redskins game). I understand that NE has a great passing game, but considering that our secondary plays a lot of press coverage, I'm happy that the conditions won't be slippery. I also think we'll see Strahan and Osi have a field day against the Patriots line.....maybe not a lot of sacks, but pressure like they had against Garcia and Rom0-2.
  2. Strange, but I recall that the field conditions in Dallas were also very good, and by the end of the game Tony Rom0-2 was literally running for his life. I also recall shrieks of "Jessica, Jessica, save me!" during the 4th quarter, followed by dull thudding sounds, and muffled groans.
  3. Some goofball asked for a score, and Plaxico game him one. I'm sure it was pretty much tongue-in-cheek, although you can never know.
  4. Great article, thanks. Really puts things in perspective.
  5. Classic....Mike Cherry. From that "QB hotbed" known as Murray State.
  6. I know. I'm just a schmuck on a message board, and yet I know that Duke is a basketball power, not a football power. Maybe if Georgie Porgie wasn't busy grinding one of his many axes, he would have made that connection.
  7. I know. What's up with that? Every year, the Redskins throw more money than any other team out there....it's like Snyders playing with Monopoly money or something.
  8. You forgot Kent "Golden" Graham.
  9. Shame on me for forgetting that. You are totally right - the way they kicked Simms to the curb was a complete fucking disgrace. And the way Simms handled it speaks volumes about what a class act Phil is. Dave Brown - the mere mention of his name racks my body with waves of diarrhea. How about these "gems" in the lost Nineties - Jarrod Bunch, Derek Brown, Thomas Lewis, Tyrone Wheatley, Cedric Jones - yeesh. Let's face it - George Young got the job because Tim and Wellington Mara hated eachother's guts, and it was taking a toll on the entire league. Again, he deserves credit for getting Perkins onboard, and then promoting Parcells. But because of his ego and stubborness, he dismantled everything he accomplished, and it has taken 17 years to be at the point of redemption.
  10. Weather, field conditions....whatever. Besides, its a retractable roof, and I wouldn't be surprised if they kept it open for some blimp shots. Either way, I think our DE's, not the secondary, will be the key to our defense. Jacksonville had a great defense, including a very strong secondary, and it made no difference because there was no pass rush on Brady. I really think a fast field plays to our favor. Osi and Strahan kill with speed more than anything else. They'll each be giving up about 50 lbs to their tackles, so I think quickness will be the big factor in getting to Brady. The defensive line did a nice job harrying Garcia is similar warm weather conditions.
  11. Not only did Young completely mishandle the post-Parcells transition, and numerous drafts, but he was too egotistical and stubborn to correct his mistakes. It's been widely reported that Parcells desperately wanted to rejoin the Giants, and was repeatedly rejected, all because of Young's stubborness. Personally, I don't think it's water under the bridge at this point. In fact, George Young's two mistakes are standing on the proverbial bridge right now, and one of them - Belichick or Coughlin - is going to land in the water next Sunday. If the Giants win, then credit Accorsi and Reese for correcting George Young's screw up. But if Belichick wins Super Bowl #4 and makes history at the expense of the Giants, the magnitude of Young's error will be driven home like a knife in my gut.
  12. I think our speed pass rush is going to greatly helped by the Arizona field. I also think the field is going to give Ahmad Bradshaw a further advantage over the Patriots veteran but slower linebackers. I'm interested to hear what other people think.
  13. What would be the substitute for Baltic Ave?

  15. Again, I'm just wondering why he was unable to find a suitable romantic interest in Boston, especially since he is the QB of New England.
  16. New Yorkers should pull for NY teams, period. I'm a big Yankee fan, but when the Mets beat the Red Sox, I was very happy for their fans. As a Giant fan, I always pull for the Jets too. When it comes to the Super Bowl, I want the NFC team to win, and within the NFC, I'll go for the NFC East team. That doesn't stop me from disliking teams like the Cowboys, Eagles or Redskins, but rather, it's a status thing - to prove that the NFC East is the best division in football, for example.
  17. So George Young pre-selects Handley over Belichick and Coughlin and you think the fault lies with the guy with a heart problem?
  18. The Prez wonders why Tom Brady needs to go to NY to date an attractive girl.
  19. When I read this article, I thank God that Jerry Reese is the GM today. And for all the (fading) Accorsi bashing, give him credit for being a guy who understand that Belichick was head-coaching material. Young deserves credit for bringing in Perkins and then promoting Parcells. But still, the more that time goes on, the dimmer George Young's legacy becomes, especially considering what he accomplished after Parcells, Belichick, and Coughlin departed.....nothing but busted drafts and wasted seasons. This is pure conjecture on my part, but I'd bet the ranch that the only reason Young didn't fire Parcells after that 3-12-1 season was because Wellington Mara probably blocked it, especially given that both of Parcells' parents had died that season. I couldn't see the Mara brothers allowing such a cold-blooded move. Link to full article
  20. I'm not sure about 5 years from now, but right now, everybody is talking Giants v Patriots. What's the latest from Dallas - lose another assistant? Romo and Jessica on the rocks?....sounds like Good Times in Big D, baby. bwahahahaahahahahaha!
  21. The article doesn't explain why Tom Brady spends most of his free time in NYC. Just count Boston among the many other cities with a serious inferiority complex.
  22. This is a well-considered post. As both a Giant fan and a Yankee fan, let me take a stab at it. The Giants are my favorite sports team, and the Yankees are a close 2nd. Whereas the football schedule is 16 games v 162 MLB games, I'm much more interested in a "typical" Giant game, because the stakes are always so much higher. I'm a Giant/Yankee fan because of my Dad. At the time, the Giants completely sucked, and the Yankees were (as usual), terrific. So when the Giants began to improve in the early 1980's, it was a huge deal to me. So I guess you can say a Giants Super Bowl win would be more exciting than a Yankees World Series. One last thing about the Yankees - since they've won the World Series 26 times, I'm pretty much immune to heartbreak. Sure, I wanted them to beat Cleveland, and recent letdowns have been somewhat discouraging. But then I console myself with the fact that the Yankees are the single most successful franchise in professional sport. They've been that way before I was born, they've been incredible throughout my lifetime, and they'll be winning World Series when I'm pushing up daisies. So really, I feel a great sense of pride to call myself a Yankee fan, and the fact that "everyone else hates them" has absolutely no impact on me. The Red Sox - Yankees rivalry is great for the game, and alot of fun, but honestly, the recent success of the Red Sox means as much to me as the recent World Series victory of the Cardinals or White Sox. I know that the Yankees will remain competitive, because they play in the best city in the world, for the best fans in the world, and excellence is part of the tradition. If I'm not mistaken, the Patriot have won 3 Super Bowls, and I believe the Cowboys and the Steelers have won 5. The Yankees have won 26 World Series, and the closest franchise to them are the Cardinals, with 10. In short, the Yankees have won 16 more championships than the next franchise. Therefore, when the Patriots have bagged 16 more Super Bowls than any other team, then perhaps they can start being considered in the same league as the Yankees. Then again, by that time, the Yankees will be up to around 75 Championships, and they'll be playing baseball on the Moon. So there you have it.
  23. Well, God forbid someone fails to heap weekly praise on the Patriots.
