NeMesiS
Its really not Elis fault. I feel like the team let him down.

GorillaNJ
Its really not Elis fault. I feel like the team let him down. I agree... but you have to assume that Jones is doing all the right things in practice and is ready to take over the team.
Mr. P
Or just good qb play isnt enough to get us wins at this point so throw the kid in.
GorillaNJ
Or just good qb play isnt enough to get us wins at this point so throw the kid in. I really hope that is not the case.... I would not want a coach who made decisions that the number one factor is not will this move make the team better.
Storm
Or just good qb play isnt enough to get us wins at this point so throw the kid in. But it wasnt good QB play. Its been game manager QB play. For the last 22 games.
MakeMeSomeFoodHo
Very sad for eli...but it had to be done. I have no fucking idea why it wasnt done prior to week one but i digress. Its going to be a long season. But at least the management realized you cant rebuild in football while trying to compete like in other sports. You have to go with the youngsters growing pains and lots of losing...whiich the giants have been doing plenty of already. Might as well play all the kids. Writing is now written in stone...giants are finally throwi3in the towel and going full rebuild..the way it should have been 3 years ago.
Storm
Ill just say this, and it isnt entirely Eli Mannings fault and this stems more from the fact that hes 38, not in the future plans, and hes making $17 million this year: If hes not scoring points and actively winning football games and hes simply out there at QB not actively losing football games for the team, then what exactly is he doing that Daniel Jones wont be able to do? Herc
Love manning but Id rather get jones ready so we can hopefully compete next year
echochamber
I'm sad Eli is done, but absolutely ecstatic Jones is in.
BlueInCanada
I said this in the other thread, how they handled the rebuild around Eli and dragging him on should be a fucking crime. Mara and whoever supported his delusion that they could win while turning over 80% of the roster should be brought out to mid field and Eli should be able to beat them to death with a bat. Last year should of been Elis final ride, instead they kept this whole "oh we can still be competative" with a team full of rookies and one year journeymen. Eli deserved better and now he's getting the Kurt Warner treatment, he's not the problem the rest of the team is but whats the point starting him when you have a your replacement waiting in the wings in a lost year playoff wise. I'd rather watch this team go 0 and 14 with Jones then 0 and 14 with Eli.
MakeMeSomeFoodHo
Maybe they can trade eli to a contender like new Orleans and although he will most likely be benched once brees is back, he is definitely better than teddy and will have a chance at playing on a winner...even if its temporary...ir maybe brees doesbt come back and the saints ride eli through the season and playoffs. Just a thought..as i agree bic, he deserves much better. Its the least they could do for him now

Its the least they could do for him now Eli has a no trade clause and no team in their right mind would ever take on his $17 million dollar contract. A trade will never happen. Storm
I highly doubt Manning would ever waive that clause, either.

MakeMeSomeFoodHo
Just a thought. I know its highly unlikely. Its sad to see eli go out like this..but its the right move...just should have been handled better....like 3 years ago
Chuck Wagon
I think its far more likely he retires mid season. After Foles comes back.... I hear you....but I'd love to see Eli go out on a winning team...and Coughlin too. C. Wagon
BlueInCanada
Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees are sidelined with injuries. Eli Manning has been benched in favor of rookie QB Daniel Jones. This Sunday will the first time in 5,748 days (Week 17, 2003) that NONE of these QBs will start an NFL game.
