Sephiroth
I'm on mobile, so the link is cut and paste. http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2016/06/giants_guard_john_jerry_has_career-changing_offsea.html I don't know if he'll be significantly improved, but there are a few good things to take out of this: 1. Jerry really cares about getting better. He's not the slouch he's sometimes made out to be. 2. Weston Richburg is a legit leader on this team, and on that note, 3. This Giants line is bonding both professionally and personally. It also looked to me in the video that Jerry was getting out of his stance quicker. Regardless, these are all encouraging signs. Tempest
I was encouraged a few weeks ago when I found out that he was also at Bentley's O-line performance camp with Richburg. If Jerry does take it to the next level we might see the entire offensive line out there next offseason.

Mr. P
Agreed. I thought he was better than Schwartz I think hes a 'just another guy' type player, but you can have a good o-line with 1 or 2 of them there.

O'hara and Sueburt were both those type of guys, Diehl even. I think chemistry plays a big part in how well the Oline plays as well. You can't have a revolving door with the Oline and expect them to play well, players coming in going in FA or due to injury. We have studs in Richburg, Pugh, Flowers, young guys who are going to learn and build chemistry together. Jerry sounds like he's taking the right steps to build this as well. Bigblue25
Yeah Newhouse is the worst of the five, but it's possible they think Hart is their RT of the future

Iceman_NYG
Ive always maintained that more than sheer talent - it is the gelling that makes the OL effectively - where every guy knows and trusts the other guy to do his job. They just need to keep playing together - with 1-2 good players, 2-3 average players can constitute a very effective O-Line. This is definitely good news. Now if we can only get a semblance of a running game. And WTF is up with a RT? Are we at all shopping for one?
gmenroc
I think Jerry may be responding to the kid out of FSU that seems to be pushing his way towards the front of the line. I'm hoping he continues to do so...and maybe even potentially takes the RT spot, but I've heard he's more suited for the G spot...which is just fine too, pushing Jerry to be better. No doubt that Newhouse is the piece that needed upgraded more than any other on the offensive line.
Sephiroth
Paul Schwartz brought up a really good point the other day too. He said that in 2006, all the press was about how the Giants had the worst O-line in football. After they one the Super Bowl, all the press was about how they had one of the best. It's possible to turn it around. Of course, there's no guarantee it'll happen with this group, but I think Pugh, Richburg, and Flowers might be the start of something good. boohyah
Newhouse may be the weak link, i agree, but jerry was poor. He stopped blocking numerous times, which is what we were warned about coming out of Miami, hopefully he has improved
Bigblue25
It's not going to be a year turnaround they did fill needs in this draft for 2017. All four teams in tbe division teeter on being really good or really bad. Next years draft can focus on LB's and the right side of the line

Giants would have to make a trade for one and I doubt they could get someone better than Newhouse.
mastershake
Since when is Flowers a stud? He graded horribly last season. He too still has to take a big leap and prove himself.
BlueInCanada
Since when is Flowers a stud? He graded horribly last season. He too still has to take a big leap and prove himself. I just mean "stud" in terms of he has everything needed to become a starter in the NFL and is still learning the game. I do agree with you and have even said it myself Flowers was one of the worst players on the field last year and got abused by DEs with speed. But Flowers wasnt drafted ready to play in the NFL, it was one of his biggest knocks coming out of college, he uses strength/aggression in college, but technique and football knowledge. He'll learn, it will just take a few seasons to get there.

BlueInCanada
BTW - Any interest in Munroe? Outside of the Ravens agreeing to a 7th round pick and nothing more, sure, heck even a two cases of Gatorade is too much for the guy. The guy cant stay on the field and the Ravens are just trying to get rid of one of bigger mistakes they've made in recent years.
