Exactly.

We had a chance to stick a fork not just in the Eagles season, but possibly in Andy Reid's career... who has had our number for the better part of the decade. Instead the team lays an egg on national TV, keeping the Eagles season and Reid's career alive.

Of course, this shouldn't be a surprise to any Giants fan. Super Bowl notwithstanding, the Giants do this literally every year under Coughlin. Eli comes out and plays mediocre the first two games, sets the world on fire for the next six, plays like shit the NEXT six, and then turns it on again towards the end of the season. Why should anyone think that THIS season will be any different? I mean, c'mon, did anyone REALLY not think we wouldn't have a second-half slump?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we should have gotten Cowher when we had the chance, and I hope to hell the chance is still there at the end of this season. I'm tired of this bullshit.

I'm totally with you Seph. Same 'ol, same 'ol. We have million dollar talent on this team and ten cent coaches.

I don't know if its Jocabs. I can honest say I can't blame him. There's no room for him to run. not a single whole... The Eagles DL destroyed the Giants OLine.

I would agree with this if BJ started sucking this year.. he's been underperforming since his 2nd year... and the fact he ran his mouth adds up to the my disgust... Not sure I'ld blame Gilbride for last night... Manning didn't have time back there.. our OL really misses O and Richie... and Kareem ain't getting any younger.

This game came down to the line play.

Eagles D-Line GREATLY outplayed the Giants O-Line. This allowed constant pressure on Eli and a shutting down of our already lackluster running game.

And the Eagles O-Line, not overwhelmingly but certainly more often than not, outplayed our D-line. We allowed over 100 yards to McCoy, got no pressure on Young, and as such, our secondary couldn't maintain coverage.

On a bright side, I don't know that our LBers were all that awful. They certainly looked like rookies at times, but they weren't completely abysmal. That, and Amakumara looked decent for his first game. Hopefully he'll take the experience into his next game and continue to improve.

This. I think our LBs have a bright future... Kiwanuka is playing with the most heart and Hertzlich... well I'm rooting for the guy as we all are.

Kareem McKenzie looked 48 years old tonight. And this team needs a real blocking TE in the worst way. And this team needs a RB with vision and speed.

the dog was wondering if you had any recent video clips of big bad brandon jacobs running through gaping holes as you did when we discussed him and marion barber this summer? probably not. it's OK, the dog has seen through jacobs since day 1. good to see you are finally on board.

Dog.. BJ > Barber. BJ is not our starter... we had salary cap issues.. and BJ is doubtful to be in Blue next season. We're not as bad as we showed last night.. That same Eagles team smoked the Cowboys.. and bent over for the Cardinals.

the dog really isn't so sure. look at the fact that barber has been more of an asset to the bears this season than jacobs has been to the giants, which is all the dog was saying back this summer when "allstar"jim went all goofy. jacobs has been overrated since day 1. he benefited from what was arguably the best o-line unit in football at the early start of his career, but if you watched him objectively during that time, you would see that he just didn't have it. now that the o-line is average, his weaknesses are exploited. and if he is going tto be on another team next year, he really isn't making his case to get overpaid once again. he has had the chance he wanted, and he tip toes through the tulips has he has done a majority of his career. the giants may not be as bad as they were last night, but the dog thinks last night is closer to the truth than what a lot of fans wanted to see...this team is 6-4. and people want to argue that they could easily be 8-2 or better, yet the dog can easily argue that they could be 2-8 as well.

No argument from me here. This team is 6-4.. which is about right... given the competition.. and what's ahead... and given our young talent that need a bit more time to develop.

A lot of dropped passes tonight that killed drives. Seriously there was at least 6 or 7. I thought Gilbride wasn't bad, just horse shit execution. Put it on the players on the offensive side of the ball, but the defensive side it's all Fewell. Seriously, to me his name is no longer Perry Fewell, it's Tim Lewis II.

I started to write a post laying in to Gilbride, but as I started to look back on the game I came to the same conclusion as you... the only fault I can lay on the offensive coaches is it doesn't seem like the team was up for this game.

The defense though... yes, Fewell is missing a few guys out there, but the Eagles aren't exactly the Greatest Show on Turf. And its doubly disappointing because Fewell's game plan at Philadelphia was so damn brilliant. I think he over thought this one... its not the first time he's come out with something that was a little too cute.

Jacobs at one point had it, as much as any man his size can have it. Obviously a guy that size is going to need a little extra room, and when the Giants gave it to him he did some special things. A power back going over 5.0 yards per carry? Almost unheard of.

But last week I saw him run out of bounds instead of taking on a 180 lb cornerback. I could have rolled that guy for a couple extra yards, but professional bad ass Brandon Jacobs makes a fucking business decision and runs out of bounds...that, I am sorry to say, is not a good sign; he's done.

And I think if the Giants had anyone else, his ass would be on the bench. Have you seen DJ Ware play?

Could be looking at anywhere between 7-9 and 9-7 at this point.

Maybe get a wildcard, but doubful.

If we bring the same stale shit to NO next week, we'll be crushed 44-3

If we lose to NO 44-3, then I will refuse to watch what might happen against GB

I hate to say it, but I almost feel like there's no reason to watch any of this team's games until the last two weeks of the season or so. We've seen this act before: the Giants drop their next two, fall to .500 and have to fight for their playoff lives the rest of the way. It happens every year.

This is the lowest the team has played on all levels.. I doubt they sleep walk thru NO or GB... just 2 weeks ago were singing their praises...

Dog... Marion Barber still sucks. Marion Barber isn't asked to be the bell cow for that offense. Forte is an every down back. Barber gets a handful of carries every game and has an offensive line that is opening holes that aren't there with the Giants. And Barber is not setting the world on fire with his 3.3 YPC.

I will say this, Jacobs THIS year doesn't appear to be running hard. I think he's done. And by done I mean he's about as useful as Marion Barber.

However, he is getting NO help from his O-line, particularly David Diehl. If you want to start a debate regarding Diehl being overrated, I certainly won't argue. David Diehl is killing this team. McKenzie is losing a step as well.

he is doing all that giants would like to be getting out of jacobs, and instead they got attitude and "use me"...now they have to use him, and he demonstrates what he has demonstrated his whole career...without a gaping hole to gallop through, he tip toes. the dog has no great allegiance to barber, but hole or not, he hits the line full speed. and his ypc is deceiving - for example, up by several scores against detroit, he carried the ball exclusively at the end of the game as they ran out the clock. no threat of a pass meant just run full speed into the line and end the game...that, along with being a short yardage specialist at this stage limits ypc...jacobs can't even do that well, and this just in, hasn't been great at it over his career...but the dog will agree, he is done.

Didn't Jacobs get stuffed on another 3rd and 1 last night (not sure, I was listening on radio with fuzzy reception)?

But, if he did, is he not be paid if for nothing else to make that first down?

How may times has this guy been stuffed on short yardage situations?

hate to say it Egg ....but you are right ....BJ is getting too old , too tired ....he cant even knock over a cornerback any more or get a 3rd and 1

He knows that this is his last year in blue ( probably his last year as a NFL starter ) ..........shame but true

2 weeks ago this team played well and won a tough game. They deserved the praises they were getting. Likewise, when they play like dogshit this week, they deserve the criticism.

Our secondary played reasonably well and showed its depth. Our front 7 on defense was poor overall, but Kiwanuka played very well and the rookies weren't awful.

On offense, our skilled positions dropped passes and couldn't get open. Getting open was difficult because Eli didn't exactly have time to throw given our O-Line's inability to pass block. Speaking of the OLine, they couldn't run block either. As such, our offense was garbage

Nice- create and answer your own question. That's the sign of a sane individual. rolleyes.gif

To me, it came down to this. Andy Reid saw our weaknesses. No running game and terrible, terrible LB play (with the exception of Kiwanuka) and attacked them.

Fewell saw their weakness- Rusty QB and receiver depth- and he sat back and waited for mistakes to happen! What happened was Vince Young eventually woke up and said " oh yeah, i'm good" and by then it was too late. Very disappointing.

Storm my dude. I'm glad I can find someone that sees eye to eye.

The defense was doing a great ass job today including INTs from the end zone yet not even one of these can turn into points from our offense. If anything it's the damn O-Line not doing their job. But I also want to put some blame on those freaking droppies our WR had. You guys seriously wasn't watching the game if you didn't notice the drops. So many three and outs our defense was gas already. Please also remember there's a few rookies out there as well. But overall our O-Line lost it this time.

Exactly! Good LORD!

Like I've said, I've had my complaints about Fewell. Sunday night's game doesn't fall into that category. If your players aren't executing, there's nothing else the coaches can do.

Even the game winning drive there were plenty of chances for the defense to make a play and they just didn't.

In other words, the strategy was 'hey, this guy sucks, so we're not even going to try to beat him, we'll just relax and wait for him to fuck up."
