ESPN content producer @PaulHembo calculated the percentage of 1st-round picks that “hit” or “miss,” based upon whether that player signed a second contract with the team that drafted them.   The data encompasses the 20 drafts spanning 2000-2019. Here are

Wow I knew qbs were in the 40s but i would not have thought wr was so low

Keep in mind that's a second contract with teams that drafted them.

WRs change teams all the time when they are looking for their payday.

Look at AJ Brown, Diggs, etc both were shipped before their second contract.

OBJ was traded in the first year of his new contract.

Not to mention the injury rate among WRs.

Hakeem Nicks didn't even get a second contract from the Giants due to his injuries.

Yes and it is very rare for a Center to go bouncing around looking for new teams, and a good tackle is not going to be let go.

True but even taking those situations out 29% is extremely low.  Makes me a little more nervous about the wrs even though they seem like can’t misses

This speaks to replacability too.  With WRs, there are 2 or 3 starters from every team in pros and college.  Likely drops that percentage cause teams can find cheaper options than a 2nd contract.

The 2nd contract metric is not great.  Would be better served looking at games started over games the team played.

Speaking of wide receivers, Amon-Ra St. Brown from the Lions just got 4 year extension. He was a 4th round pick.

Good thing our WRs suck and we dont have to worry about the market resetting here like the Cowboys do with Lamb.

Hakeem was the best and smoothest WR I have ever seen.  Too bad he got hurt so often and his injuries limited him.  It is a very vulnerable position with rail thin guys being pounded on by pissed off corner backs and safeties.  I am surprised they are not hurt more often.

Id take pre injuries Odell over pre injuries Nicks.

I'd take them both.

But yes OBJ had the ability to take a 5 yard slant into a 75 yard TD, making routine 60+ yard plays and setting a number of Giants records.

However Id take playoff Nicks over playoff OBJ.

Biggest nicks homer in the world here but it took me like one game to concede obj was the most talented wr we’ve had

I remember him playing his first game, you could seriously tell just by watching him run a route that he was special.   It was weird seeing that.

Herc was one of the biggest voices to draft him that year too. Not relevant I just remember that being your guy Herc.

I heard a really great rationale for taking a WR even if he's a diva on Talkin' Giants. They basically said if he's good but an asshole, you can always trade him for another 1st later (Beckham, Brown, Cooks, etc).
