  1. It's a good point as to the type of receiver Cruz is versus the type that Smith was. But given our TE situation, y'know...like not having any healthy, having a possession receiver in the middle of the field might not be a bad idea.
  2. Given his hit in 2012...I'd be okay with that http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/antrel-rolle/
  3. Little over 6 million according to this: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/kareem-mckenzie/
  4. I hope you're right about T2...though I don't see the market being as tough on him as it seems you do. He was a #1 CB on a good defense. I have to believe there'd be a team out there that'd give him a shot...perhaps though not a superbowl winning team. I don't know about Ross though...I think he might be let go depending upon the progress of Prince. If Ross is #4 on the depth chart, I see him being allowed to test the market.
  5. I'm hoping that both realize now what a team first mentality will get you. This is why when I see T2 tweeting about contract negotiations being a business gets me a bit concerned.
  6. I think that Eli's a lock if he maintains 3500+ yards and 25+ TD seasons while limiting interceptions around 15 for the next 8-10 years. If Eli were to stop playing today, it's borderline given the 2 championships.
  7. Health and Manningham would dictate that. I don't know that SS would be offered anything from the Giants....they tried to lock him up long term once and he chose to try FA...spurning the Giants like that doesn't exactly get you an invitation back.
  8. With Osi being under contract for another year, I think he may return. Otherwise, we'd have to release him. That, or we'd have to be willing to find a team to trade for him when he has a year left on his deal. Other teams may simply wait that extra year until he becomes a FA to just sign him. So that'll limit our trade partners. Given the Giants played a bit of hard ball in the whole contract standoff, I don't know that they'd be in a big hurry to release him. Jacobs may not produce as much on the field, but he's certainly a motivational guy that I think feeds some other players on the team. I don't know that a guy gets paid for that, but I do feel there's some value there. Add to that the fact that he's been willing to restructure his deal to keep other guys here and he's proven to be a team-first guy. Not sure of his cap hit or anything like that, but I'd not be upset if he were back next year. That said, I think we do find another RB to bring in. Ware needs to go. Scott can stay/go...don't care either way.
  9. Not sold on Baas either, but given what we paid him, he's not going anywhere so I go on the assumption he'll be here and he'll play. Tolly is a FA too I think, but he seems content being a role player behind Tuck, Osi, and JPP....enough so that I see him re-signing with us. As for LBer...a stud would be nice, but I guess the point I was trying to make with the younger guys trying to fill the 3rd position is that they may not have had the time they've needed to assume that role just yet. MK and MB are starters. The 3rd LB competition is going to be crazy as is this offseason with Jones, Paysinger, Herzlich, Williams, Blackburn (assuming he's re-signed), Goff (assuming he's re-signed). Part of me thinks that this is enough competition for camp. Part of me wants to draft/sign a stud LB. I'd have to look to see how many LBers we actually carried week-to-week on the 53 man roster.
  10. http://espn.go.com/b...lks-with-giants A little read on T2...it sounds like the Giants are at least going to get the first crack at it. Some guys would just shut their own team down until FA starts. Hopefully, the Giants are smart enough and good enough not to lowball him. He's too good for that.
  11. Look in the mamby pamby section...lol. I know what you're saying...I'm a long sleeve t-shirt underneath the jersey kinda guy...so the big-ness isn't too bad....the length is a bitch though. Got LT and Bavaro in authentic...no need for any more right now. Maybe Eli once he retires in 10 years.
  12. Well if those tweets aren't two sided, I don't know what are...in one breath he says he want's to come back but in the next he implies that he'd be okay playing elsewhere. In one breath he says they're on the same page and in the next he says that none of the negotiations mean anything until the ink is on the paper...a little all over the place. I think he needs to be a priority and that the Giants need to extend him a contract that's performance based in year one, and if those are met, than the contract for the out years gets locked in. And I think too that the Giants should be prepared to pay him well. He was our #1 CB after all...and paired with Webster...represented one of the better tandems in the league. Having these two with Prince coming up through would put our secondary in good shape for another several years provided they don't go through the injuries again like they did this year.
  13. Total agreement on the positions. Given we lost all our TEs to injury and that we have a lot of youth at LBer already and those LBers have at least shown flashes at times...I'm inclined to go with a TE in round 1. That said, I really feel that we need to start rebuilding the reserves on the OLine to one day move in and replace the guys there. Snee and Baas are still fairly young, but Diehl's been around for a while if I'm not mistaken and we don't know what's happening with Beatty's eye. OLine and DLine are the foundation and I think that we need to ensure that it's set for years to come. Not to mention, Eli's protection and the running game were not exactly high points from this season.
  14. I'll take 14-5 with two losses to Washington and one loss each to Carolina, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay
  15. While I think it's important to do this, I think that T2 and/or Ross is more a priority.
  16. Last year, I wouldn't have thought that we'd have a chance at winning it, but we did. That said, our schedule next year is just as tough as it was this year. 6 division games that can always go either way. New Orleans - has had our number recently, a playoff team Pittsburgh - on a decline, but no walk in the park, a playoff team Green Bay - surely will be looking for revenge, a playoff team Atlanta - surely will be looking for revenge, a playoff team Baltimore - a playoff team, good defense Cincinatti - on the rise San Francisco - a good defense, a playoff team. We do get Cleveland, Carolina, Tampa Bay though, but then again, they could rise up the same as Seattle did this past season.
  17. Guy with long hair in back in gray/red shirt I think might be Greg Jones.
  18. OLine - I think that we need to upgrade at OT. McKenzie walks. I like Jared Gaither (SD) and Demetrius Bell (Buf) in free agency. D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Joe Staley would both be nice, but probably too pricey. That said, with the uncertainty with Beatty, spending the extra might be okay. Either way, I think we need depth too come draft day. QB - I think resigning David Carr or picking up David Garrard or Sage Rosenfels cheap in FA wouldn't be a bad idea. RB - If Jacobs goes, I wouldn't mind replacing him in FA with BJGE (NE), Mike Tolbert (SD), Peyton Hillis (Cle), Michael Bush (Oak), or Tim Hightower (Wash). These guys are all either coming off injuries, coming off less than stellar seasons, or they're not abundantly crucial to their team. There are enough RBs in FA this offseason that I think it'd be a good idea to grab one. Again, if Jacobs is released for some reason. I like a RB in the draft as well. I'm sick of DJ Ware and am ready to see him go. MLB - Stephen Tulloch (DET), Curtis Loften (Atl), Johnathon Goff (NYG), Chase Blackburn (NYG)...I think that one of these guys should be signed. I think too that we've seen enough of J.Williams to keep him. Greg Jones, I'm not ready to give up on. And I don't want to see Blackburn go. Boley and Kiwi are clearly starters. So we have a HUGE competition for the 3rd spot between Williams, Jones, Paysinger, and hopefully Blackburn and Goff. Not all are coming back I don't think. I've listed Tulloch and Loften in case we want a clear number one. WR - I'd love to see Manningham back, but he seems to be on his way to a payday. Laurent Robinson (Dal), Robert Meachem (NO), Marques Colston (NO) could all easily step in...but they're all #1 or #2 type guys. Then again, so is Manningham. CB - Terrell Thomas is our biggest offseason signing in my opinion. I think Michael Coe should be back as well. And I actually like Aaron Ross as our 3rd/4th CB...so I hope he is re-signed as well. I think with Prince coming up through as well, a full season, a full offseason, we'll see him improve drastically as well. TE - I think we address through the draft and re-sign Bear Pascoe. G, C, DE, DT, OLB, S -- I think we're pretty good right now. I think that Sash should be able to step in where Deon Grant left off at this point. KP and AR...I'll take that combo. Dave Tollefson, I love the guy, but I could see him being unsigned unless he comes in at vet minimum. Obviously we're not making all these moves, but these are just some of the guys I've kinda put on my radar initially as far as free agency. Even if re-sign T2, MM, and CB of our own AND pick up either an OT or MLB in FA...we'll be in good shape.

    Chase

Goff returning from injury, Boley/Kiwi solid starters, Williams/Jones/Herzlich/Sintim, and Blackburn.....can't keep 8 LBers. Tough call on who you'd keep Blackburn over.
  20. I know. Detroit needs to strengthen their secondary, get a RB...and they can definitely start making some noise. They've positioned themselves well thus far...just sucks for them that they're in the same division with the Packers and the Bears.

    Chase

1 play does not a game make...there were a number of plays the Giants made (Chase's interception, Manningham's catch, Manning's throw to Manningham, the recovered fumbles, the made field goals, the punts inside the 10, the safety early on, the drops by the NE receivers/TEs)...all of them led to our win. Any one play in particular was just one piece of the puzzle.
  22. I agree that this could definitely be the way to go, but still think we'd need to address the line in the draft for depth purposes. This is also assuming that Beatty comes back from his eye injury unscathed. As for the TE...I think Ballard stays and Beckum gets released. It'll kinda be a shitty thing to do, but Beckum wasn't exactly lighting it up before his injury. He's been serviceable at best. A number of mocks I've seen have us taking a TE in the first anyhow, so we'll see. With a full offseason and a desire to learn/succeed...and with Eli, I think a 1st round pick could step in fairly quickly. As for WR, I think we need to make a serioius offer for Manningham. We can't break the bank for him though. I am not up on our current players' 2012/2013 cap hits, but I have to believe that McKenzie will create some room cap-wise if he's released. If either Nicks or Cruz throws an I want more campaign, I'll lose an awful lot of respect for them for placing the themselves before the team, an attitude contrary to what's gotten them a SB ring.
  23. I'm sure this will go over well with the close-lipped, uptight, in-house Patriots.
  24. Resting the healthy is not smart...resting the banged up and injured so that they're able to play in the playoffs more effectively is the argument, though I'm really not favoring one or the other here. I'm simply stating that had we won the additional games, we might have rested a few guys at the end of the season (Bradshaw, Nicks, etc.)...who were a bit banged up. AND, had we done that, we might have lost momentum. Therefore, it's possible to say that losing those games in the regular season may actually have been beneficial as it forced the guys to play dinged up just to get into the playoffs, and therefore maintained momentum.
  25. Fuck that...how can the Patriots have better odds now that the Giants beat them both in the regular season AND in the motherfucking Super Bowl AND, since apparently all talking heads think it appropriate to mention, in the motherfucking Super Bowl 4 years ago.
