  1. Not worth the cost of moving up 1/2 a round. If he's still there in the mid 20s, it might be a bit more realistic.
  2. Eh, I think the QB coach of ANY elite franchise QB is pretty much equivalent to a 3rd string QB...good to keep around, but pretty much worthless.
  3. Would be interesting if we could know later if this affected how many MORE would tune in to listen to our CIC. I gotta say, I will more likely not listen to Obama regardless.
  4. Wasn't Toomer also a Michigan guy? Not a bust, but since we're looking at our Michigan draft picks
  5. If it was one or two sources that were saying it, I might give him a pass. If there were some disagreement coming from somewhere or if there was anything being said from anywhere that was in opposition to what's been stated about him so far...then he might get a pass. But all in all, there are multiple sources claiming that he's a bit of a reckless idiot.
  6. Missed the interview...what'd he say? Anything worthwhile?
  7. no doubt he's shown promise and is clearly in the #3 spot behind Boley and Kiwi and clearly ahead of Jones, Paysinger, and Herzlich at this point.
  8. Not sure that Williams will be a beast per se, but he showed enough to evoke some confidence that he'll at least be solid. Jones, Herzlich, Paysinger...we'll know for sure after 2012/13. A shortened offseason and injuries to the starters threw these guys into a role they were clearly unprepared for. With adequate preparation and a little extra time, we'll be able to evaluate for sure. I'd still like Goff back with a draft pick. Unfortunately, this seems to spell the end for Blackburn...again.
  9. Yeah, I haven't read a single review on him that hasn't mentioned serious character flaws coupled with extreme levels of freelancing and no real discipline whatsoever on OR off the field. Sounds like more of a headache than what he'd be worth. I think we were all pleasantly surprised by our LBers this past season, especially with Goff and Sintim going down so early. Not saying they set the world on fire by any means, but they weren't as much a detriment that we all feared they'd be...and they did show improvement as the year went by. I still would like a mid round draft pick on a LB, but certainly not a first or second.
  10. I saw him as the 7th DE overall and mid to end 2nd round grade.
  11. At the end of the day, I'm not overly comfortable letting just Barden and Jerrigan compete for the 3rd WR spot. If Devin Thomas or Dominik Hixon come back, I'm slightly more confident that we'll be just fine without MM. I still wouldn't mind a later round draft pick on a WR. To the poster who commented that the Giants have the luxury of being able to let him walk without missing a whole lot, I agree. He was a VERY, VERY good 3rd WR. He could probably be a mediocre to good #2. If he was the least bit intelligent, he could probably be a #1 on SOME team. But I agree too with those who've said that he'll probably not reach his full potential. That said, he did some good things for us and I wish him the best...right up until we meet him again, at which point, I hope we knock his fucking head off.
  12. Thinking of Tyrone Wheatley? I believe he was a Michigan guy.
  13. I'd be okay with that, so long as he was able to grasp the offense quickly.
  14. I'll give you that. I'd be more inclined to get rid of Ware than Scott, that much is certain. Bradshaw, Jacobs, Scott, draft pick
  15. I agree in that Carr's chances to start are pretty much dried up. But then I look at some of these teams who could definitely use a starting QB...and you just never know. Granted, I think the Colts are going to, and should, draft Andrew Luck...and turn over the keys to him. But don't you think the Colts would've loved to have Carr in place of Painter this season? Or Cleveland wanting Carr over McCoy? Or Arizona wanting Carr over the bum they signed from Philly? I don't know. I'm pretty much resigned to calling Carr a backup, but I look at a lot of teams who are starting less than that on any given Sunday.
  16. I like McCants...hadn't read anything on him prior to seeing your post...Nate Potter on the other hand, I've read good things and some pretty bad things, which would give me pause, even in the 5th round.
  17. I think the concern is that Bradshaw needs to share the load due to nagging injuries. And Jacobs, while good in relief, I believe will be 30 this offseason. And Ware, nor Scott have shown they can do much of anything in a starting role. So while it's certainly not a pressing need, it is something that I think should be addressed in the draft, but not necessarily in the first round.
  18. Pup list doesn't include preseason games or is it regular season only? I was suggesting the 2 TEs as a last case scenario due to it being quite a risky decision. I like the draft one/sign one approach myself.
  19. He was in SF just last year competing for a starting job with Alex Smith, no? I think most NFL players have that desire to start, to show what they have. There's a drive, a motivation that consumes a lot of them...or else I don't think they'd even get to that backup level. So I don't know that he's past wanting it. I think the league MAY be past giving him that opportunity. I look at some teams like Arizona or Seattle or Washington or...on which David Carr MIGHT stand a chance to start. I reiterate..MIGHT be able to start. Whereas with us, so long as Eli's healthy, Carr has NO shot at starting. None. So yeah, nobody's building a team around David Carr, but do I think that there's a chance he could walk, yeah, I do. What may or may not drive this, and I don't know the figures....but since we're close to the cap and all. What's the difference between vet minimum and the salary/contract given to say, a 6th or 7th round draft pick in the rookie wage scale? If the rookie draft pick makes less than vet minimum, than I think it COULD pave the way for Carr's departure.
  20. Perriloux...that's a hilarious story...you can't find anything on him without them mentioning that he's been signed/re-signed over a dozen times in a single season by the same team. I don't remember seeing much from him. Not saying he didn't do anything, but I just don't even remember seeing him in preseason. If he is what you say, which I don't necessarily doubt, than that's more comforting than what I originally thought. Still, a 3rd QB at some point is something to keep an eye on. Again, nothing more than a vet-minimum FA or nothing earlier than a 6th rd pick.
  21. I was going off the assumption that Ballard was restricted. If so, he has done enough for them to put a 3rd round tender on him. So, if another team does sign him, we'd get their 3rd. If not, he'd be back with us for at least another season. Then, when healthy, he could get extended/re-signed. I think too, that the first few weeks, we could potentially survive with a 2 TE rotation.
  22. I don't know much about this Koger kid....you have anything handy on him? I could argue that with Carr being a FA, that QB could be a need come draft day. Not to mention, I don't want the Giants to become Indianapolis should something happen to Eli. I was actually thinking of Kellen Moore out of Boise St. as a VERY late round, if not undrafted FA signing. I agree on the character guys. I have seen a few mocks that have us taking Burfict at 32. Even if he'd still be there, which I don't think he will be, but still, if there, I think that the attitude and baggage would limit his appeal to the Giants moreso than it might other teams.
  23. From what I'm seeing, he's a mid to late 3rd round guy. So yeah, he should be there for our #2 and maybe even for our 3rd...but no way by our 4th.
  24. I like our taking a WR in the draft, but I don't like it for our #1. I believe that a first round pick should be expected to start and contribute almost immediately, especially at WR. Given Nicks and Cruz, I think we could do better picking that WR in a later round. If you can take BPA and fill a need in the first, I think that's the direction we need to go. I am looking for that to be TE with Allen or Fleener.
  25. Yeah, maybe I thought some folks would grow the fuck up, not devote 3 additional pages, of a (apologies SW creators, mods, etc) sparsely frequented message board, to petty banter about how stupid one thought the other was and actually return the thread to the topic at hand. So yeah, I read through it all. That said, I agree that Marcellus Bennett is not the answer. I like Fleener or Allen in the first round of the draft coupled with a FA that can hold the fort for the first 4-6 weeks of the season, to ensure that Ballard has a chance to fully recover. Then, we can go on in the season with Pascoe, Ballard, draft pick. I think Beckum was on his way out regardless and that whatever FA we sign to hold the fort, will be cut once Ballard returns to the lineup.
