  1. Very refreshing to see this kinda thing happen and yes it holds advantages and disadvantages for both but I love the work ethic mentality as to "I will show you what I am made of". I love the team that E Acorsi reese and couglin put together. Road warriors !!!
  2. Favre has and obligation in my opinion to be straight with the Packers. He has put them in a very difficult position. There was no reason for this to happen yet it did because this man cant make his mind up and is holding this team hostage. The packers need to move foward and Farve in essence wont let them. The packers did not create this mess but Favre did. So what brett really wants is to play for greenbay which keeps the team from moving foward or he wants a big pay day from a team that can compete for a title. I will say this much Skip Bayless on ESPN 1st and 10 called this. He said Brett would be back and sure enough its happening. If I were the Packers I would trade him just to let the fans know the Packers as and organziation are bigger than Brett Favre the attention whore. I agree he is milking this now! Go out with some class for gods sake and do more jeans commericals!!!
  3. Like many of you here on the board I am long time Giant fan and my roots go back to the mid 60's as a 6 yr old watching them with dad. With that said I cannot remember the Giants ever trading a multi pro bowl player at least not within the last 20 to 30 years. For this to happen something was seriously out of sync with Shockey! O well will just have to adapt to life without him. Too bad he has a set of bad wiring in the brain.
  4. Thats a very good point and as a guy who watched Phil back then he struggled not only as a young QB but the talent around him was lacking. Eli on the other hand was lucky to have a solid group of guys around him, not all pro bowlers but a lot of solid players. I think the big thing that really sticks out between them is Eli has that magic 2 min drill in him. He can really take the pressure and pull it off. I never felt that about Sims.
  5. Spotter, Hey waz up? I'm gonna have to agree with the Eli supporters here. Simms was great for the Giants no doubt there but Eli has shown in the 1st 4 years what Simms had not. He stayed healthy as one poster mentioned, he had a number of games where he took the team on his shoulders in the remaining minutes and won. He was a vital part of the greatest Giants season in modern memory. He diplayed not only in the S-bowl but at other times in the 1st 4yrs that he thrived on pressure when the game was fully on the line. Simms in his 1st 4 years never had the opportunity to display those kinds of qualities. The type of game that was played back in the Simms era was so dependent on D and the running game that the field position battle didnt open up any high powered Giants offense. (which by the way they never had any how) In some ways to compare these 2 QB's are unfair to Simms as both teams were different both offensively and defensively. I admire both QB's for different reasons and the unique teams they played for. But if there were 1 choice after just looking at the 1st 4 years it would be Eli. When the game is on the line and my QB is gonna command the offense to go down the field and win it I want Eli Manning with the ball not Phil Simms hands down!
  6. IF carr doesnt make the team than its a battle between Woodson and Wright for 2nd QB. At this point Wright does not impress me at all and Woodson has 0 experience. Not a great senario behind Eli.
  7. LT was superman but Bavaro was one tuff son-ama bitch!!
  8. I don't fault the NFL players to try to extract as much money out of there team as possible. Remember these contracts are not guaranteed like baseball and basketball. Also the shelf life of NFL players is very very short in comparision. When a window of opportunity exsists for a player like Plax he wants to be paid like his peers and knows at any moment down the road a career altering injury can happen. He knows he is a commodity and when he feels his value is high he wants to be paid like others in his class. Just pure business if ya asked me. Some fans see it as greedy and being un-team like but I don't blame the guy from a business perspective at all. I hope the Giants can come to terms with him.
  9. The boy is unhappy ! Shit, he makes millions playing football. He's banging tons of hot chicks. He plays for the world champions in New York. What the fuck is his problem????? No one loves him anymore, his feelings got hurt!!! Please give me a break about this guy. He took his ball and went home. Id give my right nut to have his opportunity!!! Let him play for the saints, stupid bastid.
  10. After hearing all the info on this ( and I'm sure there is a lot more on this issue) its so clear that since day 1 Shockey had issues. First year as a rookie in training camp he had a physical fight with one of the players ( i forgot who) but since that time he has been fighting it seems like with the whole giant environment. Shockey has always been a "maverick" and last year was a blow to him not being able to play in the S-bowl but this blow up with Reese I think might be a lot of vented frustration of bigger proportions. Its difficult to come up with a valid opinion with the way biased information comes out. I'm not sure what to believe but Shockey has always been a little too up front with his opinions. When you factor in his working out in Miami every year (which I never thought a good thing) and his mouthing off I guess the whole Shockey package has been very volatile since the beginning. It does seem like his feeling were hurt by being left out of the S-bowl and his ego doesnt like it at all. After all he's Shockey and the "maverick"type has the big ego. What holds Shockey back is himself not the offensive scheme. I dont hear other TE's around the league bitching and moaning the way shockey does. Gonzales, Cooley, Whitten I dont hear there names come up very often in the media. Maybe I just missed it. Still the information is hard to make out as to if I want Shockey a Giant but the potential has always been there but never 100% over the top for Shockey. Something always seems to get in the way. It seems like himself. A guy that wants to stick out of the crowd. Someone should remind him its a team sport. Just watch the DVD playoff and S-bowl highlites. I have a feeling he hasnt watched it yet!
  11. Yep, everyone want there piece of the pie.
  12. Age is a consideration for sure but I think its gonna come down to who has the best camp in regards to those 2 players!!
  13. Looks like Clark or Blackburn will get the cut. Pierce / Kiwi / Wilkinson / DeOssie / the 2 rookies Clark or Blackburn you pick!!
  14. whats your take on chase blackburn?
  15. Its a real possiblilty ! but camp will tell the story of course. Lots of competition this year. Lots!!
  16. I really believe the success and failures of and offense are a little more than the direct focus of one person. And I thought Gilbride did a good job managing the offensive flow of the game through out the season. There were some games I felt the Giants should have run the ball more to control the game on the ground but that is just a fans opinion who is watching with a beer in his hand on sundays. Limited injuries, player execution and a solid defense is the friend of any offensive coordinator. Again, its a multitude of factors that determines success or failure and you can't quickly prosecute one man.
  17. Yes lots of competition and ya gotta love it!!
  18. I wonder what Kiwi's role will be. In my mind his being a LB is still questionable and maybe he splits time. LB and DE? Someone should call Steve Spagnulo and ask what the deal is?
  19. If we carry 7 I think it may be: Pierce, Kiwi, Wilkinson, DeOssie, Kehl, Goff and Clark I think chase blackburn could get cut. Competition in camp is gonna be high. 57 Blackburn, Chase LB 6-3 247 24 4 Akron 55 Clark, Danny LB 6-2 245 31 9 Illinois 52 Daniels, Tank LB 6-3 248 26 3 Harding 51 DeOssie, Zak LB 6-4 250 23 1 Brown 94 Goff, Jonathan LB 6'2 245 22 R Vanderbilt 53 Kehl, Bryan LB 6'2 242 23 R BYU 97 Kiwanuka, Mathias LB 6-5 265 25 3 Boston College 54 O'Neil, Keith LB 6'0 240 27 3 Northern Arizona 58 Pierce, Antonio LB 6-1 238 29 8 Arizona 59 Wilkinson, Gerris LB 6-3 231 25 3 Georgia Tech He is a good special teams player but not over the top as a dominant athletic type. Wondering if others see it this way.
  20. That surprises me. I think the guy plays very well n fact the whole o-line plays well as a group. What dont ya like? and don't say his cologne!
  21. I think Shockey can be used a bit more but is that the real problem. Some where along the line Shockey feels disconnected from this S-bowl win and his team. Did the media cause that? Or is Shockeys ego to big for this team. I dont have the answer to that but Eli made plays without SHockey and won a S-Bowl. Thats the hard fact. Shockey must buy into this Coughlin team mentality and forget about personal stats etc... I'm just curious if he didnt get hurt and played out the season and the Giants won the S-bowl with him would he have been interested in being traded?? Shockey's feelings were hurt at least thats my take on it.
  22. yeah ! 15 would have been much better! The Giants can't win!!!
