Its time you listen to a man of reason. ME !! The giants schedule can be either a blessing or nightmare! Lets go to the middle ground. ELi probably has improved some but other NFC East teams have bolstered there pass rush. We have a secondary that is basically new playing togther and none on this board know how that will gel. LB unit should be better with arrington and better backups but we have a DT unit that could be a weak link in clogging the run. can the giants average another 26 pts per game ? maybe maybe not but with increased parity means more difficult games and injuy for both sides of course. Much hinges on the sucess of the Giants defense. As we have seen great offenses (ala the Colts) mean nothing during the playoff run. If the giants D becomes better than average this year than expect a strong showing otherwise it could be a medicore season. Its so early to tell what will happen and not worth arguing over yet! Save your energy for Sept !!!

Back to the conversation about 3-4 D from GMB !!! If you were saying that the Giants could evolve into some hybrid type of 3 -4 allignment than I would agree its more than possible. But to go to a classic 3 - 4 I just dont think that will happen. my .02 worth. i didnt mean to say you didnt have any football knowledge my bad and I appologize! :worshippy:

yes ! behind the keyboard is where the real mystery or misery lies! I doubt if we all met away from screens and keyboards would the same conversation exsist on this board. There would be some that would back down from there usual statements for fear of physical harm. Its amazing how comfortable one can be behind the screen. In my opinion because 2 things that stand out with the DT. First off we have players that have not yet proven themselves. Joseph is inconsistant and Robbins is not much better and a guess with his weight. The other position which is held by either Ducket, Seawright or Coefield is a guess. Ducket is a work in progress, Seawright has no NFL playing time and the rookie is green. As much as their was pressure from Strah and Osi QB's had the ability to step up and throw. The DT's didnt put the kind of push into the QB's face thats needed and when teams doubled OSi and Stray with TE and RB that gave the QB's time to throw. Sure our LB's and hopefully our secondary has been upgraded but if these group of players (DT'S) dont clog the middle with some of the RB's in the NFC east and others they will gain yds on the ground. I dont care who your LB's are (see ray lewis) you need to clog that middle and also colapse the pocket. I dont know if you remember but the giants were giving up long sustained drives and that starts with stopping the run. As far as eli manning goes if the Giants dont put every game on his shoulder than he will be fine. If they have him pass 30 to 40 times a game or more than any QB will make mistakes. i think you might be underating the D line of scrimage.

the writer of that articleas much as he doesnt have his facts all together is making a legit point and one that may cost the g-men the ability to take the division. I am not sold on the DT's we have on this team. Maybe things will change by Sept. like a miracle! :brooding:

OK lets be truthful. This article has merit !! !! The DT situation is weak unless coach Coughlin has info the transends the media which we all hope he does otherwise we have weakness. I have been hearing seawrights named mentioned but whats that about ? he has no playing experience. Ducket has potential but we can only pray he steps up. Robbins even with the right weight wont be dynamic allthough I see him as the most promising solution to the 3 gap. But what about 1 gap NT?? Duckett ? Seawright ? Coefield is a freakin rookie !!! The only reason the giants wont win the division is because they let it get away from them. The have yet to replace Clancy and the article is correct in my opinion unless a player or players step up big and that a big guess right now!! been bitching about this for months!!! i hope i'm wrong!! :brooding:

i agree ROC !! the bottom line is the competition has risen. The difference's between the NFC east teams are very small. Noone has a real advantage. It will be a WAR !!!!!!

with all the potential weapons the giants have there is no reason not to scare opposing D's with the element of surprise. but one thing is always there and has been from the start and that is execution ! teams made out of paper mean nothing (redskins, dallas and yes the giants) unless you take care of the fundementals. when you score 26 points on average thats plenty of points if your D is a little better than average. In fact you can go along way with that combo. Lets hope the D can rise to the occassion. If so it will be a very competitve season and as a fan of many years thats all I hope for!
