Eli's not getting $20M. you gotta start high right!!

Hi Pete How goes it these days? Hope all is great. I totally understand where your comin from but one thing that is extremely important that you didnt mention is playing under pressure and winning. Carr is untested as all the other QB's you listed or probably will list in the future. Eli has that part of the game. When the big game is on the line stats dont matter, crisp passes and tight spirals dont matter. Look at Romo great QB right? But for all his skills he cant seem to put it in the endzone when the game is on the line and thats everything. Eli has that and I am not saying that he is worth every penny of what there asking I too beleive its alot of dough but it would be a huge mistake in my opinion to let this QB play for any other team but the NY Giants. We have this year to see if Eli continues to improve. 4 straight playoffs 1 superbowl not bad.

I am very excited for Eli and as much as I don't have a crystal ball in my closet I do beleive with the no star attitude on the team Eli will continue to make good progress. The receivers that are now on this team with our very strong defense and running game sets him up to elevate his game further. Eli will surpass Phil Sims when its all said done. He is not there yet as you said but its right around the corner in my opinion. Giant fans have a lot to look foward to after years of misery and it feels great. When I think of the 70's and what this team is today I pick up my beer and thank the football gods!!

Lets be honest, for a number of years Pierce has not had great talent to work with. I think this year the LB unit play very well.

Pierce doesnt have lightning speed but what he lacks with that he makes up in intelligence (except hanging out with Plax). Pierce is gonna have a good year with Boley next to him and the other young developing players. I see a very good LB unit this year. Pierce, Boley, Clark, Kehl, Goff, Wilkinson and Sintim Black burn, DeOssie.

Its a very tough situation to be in. Lets look at the positives: Eli has something that very few QB's have he can win under pressure. You can't teach that. He has that. He finds a way to win in very big games. Most GM's dream of finding a player who can win under pressure. We already have that in Eli. He commands the field very well and his reading of defenses is great. He is able to size up where to go with the ball. He is not Peyton but has that same feel for the game. and yes Peyton has only 1 S-Bowl too. He has a great relaxed relationship with his teamates and that personality to be relaxed and deal with pressure spills over to the entire team. Eli is a great teamate. He comes accross as being a modest hardworking player. One of the boys. Eli is not a mobile QB but finds his way out of tight spots and can make plays and can avoid the rush. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lets look at the negatives: Eli at times is inaccurate. He will have streaks of inaccurate passing. (throws high, throws behind etc..) Eli at times does not throw tight spirals. Eli has trouble with the deep ball and at times under throws his receivers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think in many ways Eli is now the foundation of the Giants. He comes with a few negatives but those negatives may improve. If Eli continues to improve his game and is more accurate, throws better deep balls and is better statistically he is worth close to the money their asking. I always expected to pay higher that he is statistically worth but Eli is a winner infact a S-Bowl winner. True you can win a S-Bowl without a Qb star calibre player. The Giants won with a backup in Jeff Hostlieter so to look at it from that perspective you can say well maybe we can win one with David Carr but its a gamble because we dont know how Carr will react under high pressure. Eli we know exactly what we have under pressure. If he continues to improve again with this semi-new receiving core than the Giants don't have that much of a choice. Its Eli's team they built and you have to pay him close to what he wants. Its a lot of money I agree. But I have faith that he can win a few more S-bowls with the team thats around him. Any other QB will be a big risk. Show Eli the money!

I feel your pain but he made a mistake that is foregivable. When you look at a guy like Donte Stallworth than your talking NO Fkin way. Plax shoots himself (idiot) Stallworth kills someone DWI (unforgivable) With all their money you think Plax could get a body guard and the other asshole could get a driver. My heart goes out to the family and their loss.

The Giants are set ! All hard working great group of players. I dont see any head cases and we should keep that way.

This is a pure guess on my part but I am hoping to see Nicks and Manningham as #1 and 2 followed by steve smith as #3 and Hixon comes in with 4 wide sets and also backs up Nicks and splits some time there. Barden becomes a weapon inside the 20 with his height and learns the position because he is raw. Moss I still don't know yet. Of course this is pure guess work but what I like about this is manningham has nice speed coupled with Nicks who is very physical at the line. We know that Smith is very elusive for the slot openings which he has a great feel for. I dont discount Hixon as a starter but he is not the type of receiver that catches everything or translation. Eli can throw erratic at times and we need receivers that can catch anything anywhere. Does Manningham have great hands? Its hard to say what will happen here but there is very good potential. And receivers actually working and drilling with Eli will make a huge difference. Is it August yet?

the other site was cool but every site has its own personality and it we all have our own opinions. Every fans is different in the expectation of the team whats right and wrong. I dont think you can really take message boarding serious. Spotter take it for what is. A sometime entertaining entity that can also bring you information. Many times I picked info from this site and there are some very cool people here as well. As the Joker says " why so serious?"

This is one of the biggest thing and I am glad you brought this up. Eli has made advancements when a veteran player(s) have left. When Tiki left he picked up his game, Shockey, Strahan and Now Plax and Toomer are gone. This is totally his team now. He doesnt have any obligation to throw to anyone except the open receiver and with all participating in OTA's and camp I too can't wait ! This is Eli's team he is the veteran now!

As long as they say the Giants are playing from behind i'm happy. The team plays shitty when the media says there good. Been that way forever.

no question that he makes the Giants better. It seems like a very very small window of chance that it would happen though.

Given his limited opportunities he has done well for himself and put himself in Giant history with one play. He has also made some great special team play as well. I do understand your thought process here and if other players out play him in camp than its over. He has not had the kind of opportunities that he will have going foward. Losing 2 starters gives every receiver a huge opportunity to make this team. I think if its a close call between him and another player than he should still be a NYG! If another player clear beats him out than we carry on without him. Do I have loyality to a player that made a phenomenal catch in the closing minutes of a S-Bowl win? Yes I do. I hope he beats out his competition.

and Eli Manning will be up for renewal. I have a feeling the dollars there are gonna stress the Cap.
