The Giants O looked a bit inconsistent overall last night. The Eli pick was just awful, but there were a few near picks that quite obviously weren't his fault. And drops, drops, drops. Plax and Jacobs both had passes hit them in the hands and dropped 'em.

Rosevelt Colvin was released by the Texans. At first I thought this must mean that he really sucks at this point, but then I thought... doesn't Houston actually have pretty good linebackers? With the injury to Osi and moving Kiwi back to DE, should we bring him in for a look, or is he really finished? He used to be a really good pass rushing LB/DE hybrid.

The funny thing was... by midseason, it was "The Giants are the best team in the NFC!" And this was after they had lost to the Cowboys and Green Bay... it wasn't until they started playing well that all the "experts" thought they sucked.

That's true... but I also think that's what separates the fans from the fanatics. When you watch a play for the first or even second time, you're concerned about down, yardage, etc. But when you examine the play more, you start to notice all kinds of subtle things that you missed the first time around. Things like, "Oh my God, Chris Snee just pancaked that tackle," or "Jeremy Shockey gave up on that route." You get to really study the game tape. Dorky, I know, but I'm a fanatic.

Carr looks to have the tools... quick release, strong arm, velocity, tight spiral... but I did notice when the rush got to him he looked rattled. If he can get his head on straight he'll be a good backup. Anthony Wright flat-out sucks, showed me nothing last night. Weak arm, bad/slow decision making, no pocket presence.
