  1. For the DL, we're going to be a little weaker without Strahan... but don't forget we signed Wynn to play Tackle on passing downs. But you just can't assume we'll be better without Strahan... we won't. At LB, it's a push. We lose Mitchell, who's great against the run but not as good in space... and we get Wilk, who's GREAT in space but a question mark against the run and as a pass-rusher. I agree our secondary will be better. Knight is at least as good as Gibril in this stage in their careers, and Phillips has me really excited. Our new rookie corner should be pretty good too, and we still have our 4 guys from last year coming back.
  2. Yeah, man! The EAGLES are the team to beat! After all, they have Westbrook and uh... uhm... Mc Nabb for at least part of the year, and uh... wait... um... I'm sure a lotta other really awesome players. Eagles in the Super Bowl!
  3. How low are Shockey jerseys gonna go for online?
  4. I really like what he had to say about Darcy Johnson. He's added another 20 lbs of muscle in the offseason and is up to about 270-272. If memory serves me correctly, that kid could really run, too... if he's 100% back from the surgery we might be in pretty good shape at TE anyways.
  5. Awesome! When I'm outta work, I'm wearing my red "ghetto style" Phillips jersey all evening!
  6. 85% of the defensive snaps probably includes special teams. NO WAY is that happening. We'll get our 2nd and 5th as promised.
  7. This is perfect. Remember when we were gonna finish 6-10 at this time last year? The Giants read this shit and are gonna come into the season with a serious chip on their shoulder. And don't worry about the losses. Tuck for Strahan is a push at this stage in their careers. Sammy Knight is at least equal to Wilson at this stage in their careers. Wilkinson is a few steps under Mitchell at this stage in their careers. Shockey is worse for THE TEAM than Boss at this stage in their careers. ...everything is gonna be alright. Let the naysayers doubt.
  8. In fairness, the kid's question to Shock was "if you didn't get drafted by the New York Giants, who would you have liked to have been drafted by?" He didn't come out and say "I wish N.O. drafted me." Now that being said... do you remember when Sheldon Brown (or someone from the Eagles secondary) said that Shock had said to him that he wished he played in Philly instead of NY? Combine those with all the other comments... and all these weird little things that we had kind of written off are starting to come together a bit. They have a saying in Vermont, I'm not sure if you have it in New York or not, but it goes, "fool me once, shame on... shame on you? But fool me... you can't get fooled again." And I think that applies here.
  9. Christian Peter. Kerry Collins. Hell, Plaxico Burress... the Giants have a great track record of reclamation projects. Olivea was a really good signing, and a typical Reese signing... under the radar, but will pay big dividends. Bingo.
  10. Yep. A few Shock plays I'll always remember (both good and bad): The catch over Dawkins that helped the G-men to the playoffs. The non-catch the next week vs. San Fran... bounces right off his goddamn hands. Running over that Colts safety. Man, he just obliterated that guy... all I could do was laugh my ass off. His catch and run vs. the Texans in the Preseason of his rookie year. He throws one guy aside, outruns another and steamrolls another guy before he's tackled. That's when I knew we had someone who was special. Watching in THREE CONSECUTIVE GAMES Shockey standing alone in the end zone... and having Kerry Collins passes bounce of his hands in his sophmore year. I was at the third game and I don't think I've ever heard the Giants Stadium crowd boo so loudly... and the asshole was laughing about it. Not funny. The dumb ass spike in the beginning of this year that cost us a first down... and his subsequent "that's the way I play" talk in the locker room. Really? "That's the way you play?" Costing your team a victory? Nice job, retard. Watching him kick the Cowboys' asses every game for the past five years. Shockey calling Parcells a "homo." Awesome. One of the few times I've enjoyed his brash attitude. Shock taking a "less than direct" route to the end zone to prove something to Julian Peterson... and Peterson stonewalling him.
  11. Bleh, maybe take one of 'em for like a 7th. They're nothing special. Prolly be available after cuts in a few months.
  12. Stephen Alexander, Kyle Brady and Jermaine Wiggins are all available. Of all of 'em, I'd take Wiggins. He can block like a madman, and is decent in the passing game.
  13. I was never a huge Shockey fan... and why? Because he's always been such an asshole that even when he's making big catches, he's hard to root for. I'm not sad to see him go one bit. We won the Super Bowl without him; we'll be fine.
  14. 1. You have 100 billion dollars and a football team bequeathed to you. You get 60 billion, and 60% of the football team. You use 600 million or so to pay for the tax on the remainder of the team. 2. You're a trust fund baby who's had money stashed away since you were a twinkle in your old man's eye. Please. Not be able to afford it? You've gotta be kidding, Lube. When have you EVER seen that?
  15. Yeah, I always shed a tear when multi-millionaires have to pay taxes. If it bugs them so much, tho, they can donate their money to the Make Sephiroth Rich Foundation, and I'll even pay 75% of the value of the shares so long as they give me all the money they have. See? Problem solved! Everyone's happy! Maybe they can throw in Kate Mara too as a deal sweetener!
  16. ...almost makes you wonder how they did it for 80+ years without PSLs, right?
  17. I don't know... but I do know I'm def. gonna go this year. I was gonna go to a bunch last year but my niece got sick and put the kibosh on those plans. Now with her up and healthy I'm gonna hit camp at least a couple of times.
  18. ...I guess Tiki needed the Giants more than the Giants needed Tiki, huh? Just sayin'
  19. You know, I always knew Bob Papa was good. But I never realized HOW good he was until I got a Sirius radio and had a chance to listen to all the other guys. I'd be on the Giants station and Papa would tell me the formation, what Eli was doing pre-snap, who was in motion in what direction, the snap, where Eli was looking, who was open, the pass, the completion, and the yard line. I'd flip over to the Eagles station... the next play would have the snap, the play, and sometimes the yard line. Not just that, but his commentary (which is usually pretty sparse) is always spot-on. There's never been a time where I've been listening to Papa and said to myself, "what the hell game is HE watching?" We're really lucky as Giant fans... we've got THE BEST guy doing our play-by-play.
  20. Sign Ron Dayne... he's never had a chance playing behind Tiki... and move Jason Sehorn to safety.
  21. Yeah that's the thing about fantasy... it's all stats. There are no stats for determination, desire, and heart. The Giants D should conceivably be a top-5 D, but aside from that... Eli's numbers were average and streaky. Plax was a monster in the beginning of the year but faded (numbers-wise) at the midway point. Jacobs was a pretty good back but how many carries will he get with Bradshaw now in the mix... and don't forget that Derrick Ward is a better-than-average guy too... and Droughns stole goal-line carries at times last season as well. Teams like Dallas have all of their talent up front, in their starters. The Giants are deep, but perhaps not as front-loaded as many of the other teams in the NFL.
  22. They HAVE to win for best upset, and if Tyree and Eli don't win Best Play there's something seriously wrong... that might be the single greatest play in Super Bowl history. I'd say Best Game and Best Team are also plausible.
