As a former football player in high school, let me tell you that the game moved so fast THEN that when I'd grab a facemask, I had absolutely NO time whatsoever to decide how hard I was gonna pull on it... and none of those guys were pro. It's an accident when you do it most of the time. I'm sure some are on purpose, but when it's inadvertant, trust me, you don' have time to decide how hard you're gonna pull.

We like to complain on here (and rightfully so many times) that Gilbride doesn't make a whole lotta second half adjustments. Well, let's give him some props when he does. With the game still tight in the beginning of the second, KG seemed to be calling an awful lot of four-WR sets that isolated Hixon in one-on-one coverage. Also, inserting Bradshaw at the end of the game was the perfect "change of pace" back the Giants really needed... and his two TDs basically sealed it for us. We just clobbered 'em at the end. It was nice to see our OC move away from the power and TE sets and into four WRs to change things up a bit since we actually have the personnel this year to run that kinda stuff. Let's hear it for KG!

Ross, Webster, and the safeties are eating it up this year. Seriously... the secondary looks great. And the TD pass woulda been a pick if our stellar rookie didn't have butter fingers. He was in perfect position.

The thing that pisses me off about the power rankings is this: Remember last year when the Colts were #1 for the first six weeks, because "Even though the Patriots look better so far, you have to keep the Super Bowl Champs at #1 until they lose a game?" What the fuck ever happened to that?

The Giants O looked a bit inconsistent overall last night. The Eli pick was just awful, but there were a few near picks that quite obviously weren't his fault. And drops, drops, drops. Plax and Jacobs both had passes hit them in the hands and dropped 'em.

Rosevelt Colvin was released by the Texans. At first I thought this must mean that he really sucks at this point, but then I thought... doesn't Houston actually have pretty good linebackers? With the injury to Osi and moving Kiwi back to DE, should we bring him in for a look, or is he really finished? He used to be a really good pass rushing LB/DE hybrid.

The funny thing was... by midseason, it was "The Giants are the best team in the NFC!" And this was after they had lost to the Cowboys and Green Bay... it wasn't until they started playing well that all the "experts" thought they sucked.
