If its a passing down, it makes a ton of sense to move Kiwi inside. He never gets a pass rush from the edge anyway.

I expect Nicks to go all out on Monday, but man I hope he plays the way he did last week, i.e., the way he did all last season for us - Luck's pick-6 against Pittsburgh was ENTIRELY Nicks' fault. The throw was adequate, maybe a little late, but it would have been an easy completion had Nicks come back to the ball. That wasn't the only problem I saw, but it was the most obvious. Same shit he pulled last year too, he probably doesn't even realize he isn't contesting the ball like he used to. Damn shame, I used to love to watch him play.

could be, I'm not very familiar with those guys, but what I saw on Monday were free pass rushers - literally any NFL linebacker would have gotten home against Romo on Monday.

I don't understand how the defense can be 'so complicated' given that its so simple for offenses to move the ball on them.

yeah, I generally am good with people dealing with disappointment in their own way, but in a leadership role this approach doesn't come off well.

And he didn't play on Monday night. Out for the season. (Thats the only reason I say their linebackers suck as much as the Giants.)

'More blitzing' is a facile solution. I think its more about manufacturing pressure by using scheme to penetrate the quarterback's protection. I saw what happened on Monday night, and our linebackers may suck, but so do Washington's.

Not recently, which I don't get because they've run similar concepts by using linebackers to pick an offensive lineman. IMO its is a nice wrinkle, but a lower percentage play than just sending a linebacker on a blitz or stunting the down lineman.

Eh, I didn't see it that way... but they sure were getting home, and that definitely changed what they could try on offense. I see a lot of difference between Romo and Eli... Romo is flash, Eli is dependability. Very different playing styles.

I used to view injuries as just bad luck, and sometimes they are, but I've come to understand that injuries tend to happen to players who don't do a good job of protecting themselves. The truly great players can play at a very high level while protecting themselves. Most players are always on one side or the other, either playing balls out, or thinking about their knees. Lately, it seems like the Giants have a lot of guys with that latter mentality.

Somewhat true, sure, there isn't a QB in the league that I wouldn't try to rush... but Romo is especially bad under pressure. Sometimes he'll pull something out of his ass, like that spin move (study film D!.... he almost always spins out instead of stepping up, so aim for his back shoulder), but did you see him late in the game yesterday? The blitz just kept coming and it totally got in his head - by the end, he was hallucinating unblocked pass rushers. I have NEVER seen that happen to Eli or any of the truly elite QBs.

I'm not sure about that. Both Kiwi and Damontre Moore fit better as 3-4 OLBs (of course, Kiwi is gone next season, just saying....). JPP is practically a prototypical 3-4 end, he's much bigger than the typical pass rush specialist coming from DE on the blind side. Hankins and Bromley look like NTs. And didn't McClain play the other ILB for the Ravens? Of course, then I get to the other linebackers on the roster....not exactly prototypical 3-4 stock over there. But that didn't stop them from playing a 3-4 about half the game against Dallas.

Yeah, I had visions of Carlos Emmons. McClain is a good player. well, that other McClain... dude's head isn't right. Dallas is getting some value from him now, but its hard to see that lasting.

You guys were all over it, I hope Perry Fewell was watching it too. How many of us have been all over Tony Romo for being suspect under pressure? It seems like Fewell was the last to get the memo. Man, what a great job by the Redskins coaching staff too. Not only were they dialing up the blitzes, they were creative too, like right out of a video game.So much fun to watch.
