  1. I thought it was a brilliant play by Sherman. The way he used his leg to interfere-without-interfering was incredible. Eli's only bad pass of the day too.
  2. Eh, sometimes the contain guy read the play wrong and crashed down, but a lot of the time they just weren't even lined up right to contain anybody. My opinion on the read option crap is that a base defense with good gap discipline should be adequate, but better still is to attack the mesh points and hit the QB regardless of where the ball goes. But the Giants were trying something else yesterday... the guy with contain was reading the play from way off the ball. And it worked in the first half too, but Seattle figured it out. It was a poor attempt, I think they were lucky it worked as well as it did in the first half. It was pure read and react crap, I hate that. On the bright side, if that game plan doesn't get Fewell fired, nothing will.
  3. LOL, I don't think Roethlisberger would be the QB I choose to cheap shot. Dude is huge.
  4. Not advocating this, but strictly pragmatically speaking I wonder if it wouldn't be "smart" to swallow 15 yards once or twice just take some real cheap shots on those scrambling QBs early in the game.
  5. Yeah, I noticed that too. It started looking like the old offense right at the end of the three game win streak. Eli had a damn good game that week and the Giants won, but everyone was healthy, and the pocket, for once, was clean. I'm not sure thats entirely on McAdoo though, I think Eli got a little too comfortable and fell back into some old habits. And now the team is decimated by injuries, so who the hell knows what we really have on offense. If a couple of those WRs don't turn out to be keepers then this season is completely shot - neither contention or development for the future. (...Except for ODB, but this team needs a hell of a lot more than one wide receiver. )
  6. yeah, I felt for him. You could see it on his face during the game that he knew it was slipping away.
  7. field awareness too... Randle and Manningham (who was even worse) never seem to know where they are on the field.
  8. I saw Randle go up and catch a pass over a cornerback.... once.
  9. If we have to run a conservative give-up play, I'd rather see some form of screen pass. Its not a bad time for a bubble screen if the defense is playing conservative too. And hell, run some 9s up the sideline and toss one up to whichever WR is singled up. I have zero problem with INTs deep down field on 3rd and long.
  10. But they always let those guys off the hook when the flag gets dropped on a play they didn't mean to challenge. I think I've seen a flag for that once ever.
  11. ::cough::Urlacher::cough::Armstead::cough::
  12. Tempest, other than the 3rd and Long Hillis draw play, I agree.
  13. And yeah, wtf, Tom Coughlin made himself look like it was time to retire on that slow challenge flag. Move it fuckin old man!
  14. eh, Hilton is pretty jacked. He's the new Steve Smith.
  15. (and I don't count a first round playoff loss as 'going anywhere').
  16. true.... but in my opinion you need to attack the quarterback regardless of the health of the secondary. Most of the time, Fewell seems content to play a base defense almost all game. Prince has developed into a very underrated cover corner. I'm not throwing in the towel, but man, its hard to see this team going anywhere without three of the top five corners on the roster. I think the games against San Francisco and Dallas are very winnable though. Fan speaking, but I think we're looking at 5-6 with a chance to win out. Early exit from the playoffs, yeah baby!
  17. If they're going to score anyway, and these days thats a given, then the best defensive philosophy is to be as aggressive as possible - either you'll succeed in interrupting the drive or you'll give up a quick score. And better a quick score than giving up a TD after a 15 play drive, because that wears out your defense and prevents them from being effective later in the game.
  18. Just to make sure we're on the same page, are you talking about simply having one of the top 32 WRs in the NFL (i.e., a #1 receiver), or an X receiver? Because the X isn't necessarily the #1 receiver on the team, its just a designation for where they usually line up and the kinds of routes they typically run... and yeah, usually he's the best one on the team anyway. Dez Bryant makes me uneasy.... he's an incredible talent, but something about him makes me think he's probably a real turd as a person. And there are lots of flies in NYC, just waiting to swarm on a guy like that. But you know what, I wouldn't complain if they went hard after him. Take a chance, worst case just drive up his price for Dallas.
  19. Are you sure ODB isn't the guy? Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas are scheduled to be free agents, but they're not Giants kind of guys anyway, they have to ride the short bus to the stadium. And the offensive line is as bad this season as last, I'm going to lose my shit if the Giants don't draft a couple offensive linemen before round 4 is over next draft.
  20. Every time I looked at JPP, he had two big bodies blocking him. TE and Tackle, all night long. The sacks aren't coming, but he gets lots of respect in the opposition's game plan.
  21. yeah, can't fault Fewell at all, he had a good game plan. DRC and Prince didn't come down with their chances at INTs, the Colts put the ball on the ground and the Giants didn't fall on it... the players had their chances to capitalize and just didn't come through. If the offense was merely average and the D came through with just one turnover, that would have been a different game... maybe not a win, the Colts have a damn good team, but it would have been close.
  22. On the bright side, ODB is a bad man. From here out, I'm just going to try to enjoy watching the young guys develop. Unfortunately, other than ODB, I don't see much promise among the young players.
  23. I like RGIII, and was dissapointed to see him go to D.C. Either he would be a success, and the Giants would be abused by him for a decade or so, or he'd get his career robbed of him by Dan Snyder's clusterfuck of an organization. Either way, it sucks.
  24. They must not spend time practicing that. Seems like the Giants are the worst team I've seen in recent memory at timing their blitzes.
