  1. I don't think they've gone 5 minutes without mentioning Tony Romo tonight. You'd think he'd won a playoff game or something.
  2. Definitely would not call him a bust. Problem is that Sinorice Moss is not the best WR in the group, clearly the coaching staff feel he is not the best four receivers on the team. I think he can get more time on the field if the coaches feel there is a mismatch out there that Moss can take advantage of.
  3. I'm not big on typing while watching the game unless the game is in the bag; either way. Nice run by Hixon.

    Dockery

Ummmm no. Dockery is solid, just was a second off on timing and misread a play.
  5. How about that Joe Buck. How completely full of shit can one person possibly be say one thing and then say the complete opposite not two minutes later. Have to wonder if he hears things differently while he talks.
  6. LOL, I'm sure this would go over real well with Burress. Picking up Boldin and signing him to the contract that Burress wants.
  7. The problem is you've had so much exposure to it over the last few years. Spending too much time during the offseason talking and thinking about football, the Giants, the lastest news on espn, the draft etc. Everything in moderation and you'll be excited about it again.
  8. Most fans just didn't like his kickoffs, field goal range. Sure the snap debacle in 2002 didn't help. Ultimately he got let go after Coughlin came onboard and Bryant was banged up in training camp. Didn't have that warm n' fuzzy feeling when Tynes started but once we got the snap/hold down; Tynes started nailing his kicks. I think Huston should have won out last year but it worked out well for us. Have no problem with him kicking for us during the season should something happen to Tynes.
  9. I'm betting he'll land in Chicago with the Bears.
  10. Sounds good so far, but everything tends to sound good in preseason or in training camp. If there was a concern about him in the regular season, it would have to be penalties. He might get a little overzealous.
  11. Well it did when we had Shockey on the roster but that just isn't the kinda offense we want to run. I'm sure the two TE set would have opened things up on offense but I believe the strength of the team is now in its WR core for the first time in years with the development of Steve Smith last season. I'm curious what would have happened in Dallas had Parcells stayed on board a bit longer to see Fasano develop and being on the field with Whitten as a receiving threat.
  12. Hell I still remember the Ray Green had on Larry Fitzgerald in the 2004 preseason I believe. He didn't stick but you heard that hit no matter where you were sitting in the stadium. Larry bounced back up but he was tearing after that one.
  13. Eh, I want to see it when it counts. I've read countless reports over the years about how good they look in camp only to look like drop prone players who can't make a play after the catch or go down in front of the marker and not getting the first down.
  14. I don't think he's trying to be an attention whore, he's just trying to change his mind about retirement. I'd be surprised if he actually did come back because I think he only planned on coming back as a Packer. Now that he's realized he would not be welcomed back as a Packer and will not be allowed to be a free agent to choose his new home he will probably just stay home. I think its a sad chapter to his career and should have never brought it up to begin with since he made his decision to retire. This will taint his legacy but will not stop his ascension to the football hall of fame.
  15. Sucks about Manningham, guess we'll have to wait a bit longer before we can start the touchdown cheer of Manning to Manningham. I'm hoping that the injury doesn't sideline him as much as it did Moss. I don't buy into the rave reviews of players by scouts, I judge them by what I see on the field but do hope he is everything the scouts say he is.
  16. Ah the mysterious ankle injury on the eve of training camp. I really don't care, just as long as he is ready to open the season healthy. Doubt they work something out during training camp, lets hope it happens for him during the season.
  17. Thats good for the team and risky for him. I don't think the Giants are overly concerned at the possibility of losing both Jacobs and Ward. RB's are a dime a dozen and every draft just produces another 1000+ yrd rusher. I hope Jacobs can stay healthy this season to cash in this season.
  18. Screw the honest assessment, here is what everyone is telling us: We're totally screwed, we won last year and that was a fluke! How can we possibly continue to win more games? We're called the New York Giants, not the New England Patriots... We don't have Tony Romo, Brian Dawkins, or Clinton Portis. Only the three best players at their position in our conference. Now look at our schedule... 4 teams we're playing in 2008 were division winners and we play one of them twice. The other teams are automatically better than us because they are neither the Cardinals, Dolphins or Raiders. Then there is that organization of ours... I'm betting that we will hear very shortly how Coughlin was using satellite imagery to steal not only defensive play signals but in fact were taking snapshots of entire playbooks. Also an item of note...Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan were bionically enhanced during the 2007 season when they were "supposedly" recovering from injuries which led to the pair combining for a total of 122 tackles and 19 sacks. If you thought they did a good job on those two, start drooling now over Mathias Kiwanuka 2.0
  19. Interesting point on the draft choices the Saints gave up... The Giants always wanted to get a first-round pick in return for Jeremy Shockey. They still might. When the Saints traded a second- and fifth-round pick in the 2009 draft to the Giants on Monday for the disgruntled tight end, they used the second-round pick that they might have to send to the Jets as part of their trade for linebacker Jonathan Vilma. If that happens, then the Saints' deal with the Giants would change and they would have to give them a 2010 first-rounder. Vilma was traded to the Saints in February for a fourth-round pick in 2008 and a conditional pick in 2009 that could be in the second or third round. It would be in the second if Vilma plays in at least 85% of the defensive plays this season and signs a contract extension before the end of the season. Of course, those are two things the Saints control. We might still get good value out of this trade just yet.
  20. Well since you asked I'll tell you why I think we got the short end of the stick. Shockey no longer an all-pro TE? He still is and does it in 14 games. Can't get a full season out of him, ok true but he's a lightning rod on offense when he is there. The Saints seem to think that 14 - 15 games of Jeremy Shockey for a second and fifth round pick is a bargain. Put him on the Saints with two maturing WR's and a pro bowl QB, Shockey's numbers are going to be up around with the Saints and Payton controlling the offense. If Shockey puts up 65 catches, 800 yrds, & 10 TD's; that could be just enough to put the Saints on top of their division and in the playoffs. The things people jump on Shockey for like the penalties, the yelling, etc... Really? What about the penalties Jacobs picks up or Pierce? Ok they can get a pass since they played in the super bowl. How about Burress throwing his hands up in the air in fustration? He can get a pass too because he did catch the game winning touch down. I always thought it was hillarious how fans wanted Shockey to chillout yet we loved the fire he brought to the offense when it was the worst aspect of our game. We wanted fire out of Manning because we hated the awe shucks look everytime he screwed up. Then that all got flipped: We like the awe shucks look in Manning because he's got ice water in his veins and the fire in Shockey is bad because its throwing off the whole offense and making our QB uncomfortable. Hope Brandon keeps it toned down this season, we might have to replace him if he fires up the offense. I realize everyone gets excited about draft picks, its like the lotto and you think you're going to win but when you miss in the draft; its a cascade effect that ripples through the team for years. Boss has some pretty big shoes to fill and we can only hope he's ready.
  21. There might be something left in the tank but you've gotta question his resolve to play at a high level this year. Taylor might just be more concerned with his health than making a play.
  22. When I heard that the Redskins gave up a second round pick for Taylor, I thought that was the worst trade of the offseason... Then Reese came up with this one. We just got ripped off. :brooding: It was a second and fourth on draft day and to come back with a second and fifth for a top 5 TE that is going to significantly improve the Saints just sucks. I'd hate to say it but I hope the organization saw something and they feel he is just never going to be the same tight end so its better to unload him now before his value really drops during the season and we wind up cutting him and getting nothing back in return.
  23. Man he's not feeling loved, what about us fans? First off they didn't win a single regular season home game last year and now they're gonna hit us for seat licenses to watch them lose at home!
  24. Well this was coming for awhile now so no point in getting bent out of shape about it now. Just gonna have to count on corporate sponsorship for my tickets to Giants games. I like watching the game at home anyway. I can pause it, rewind it, fast forward it, the beer & food is cheaper, seats are more comfortable as well. You want a classic football game experience, don't bother going to a major city for it.
  25. Well also take into consideration, the line in front of him in Carolina faired slightly better. He was still getting hammered and simply went back to being a deer in the headlights. I think he needs to spend two or three years holding a clipboard. Just don't see him as a starter from this point forward in his career.
