  1. This wasn't a surprise. His numbers haven't been the same and Jerry knows where to put the money and he's just making space. Question only remains if the stadium gets renamed to the home of Demarcus Ware.
  2. Yeah i agree, definitely don't NEED a safety.
  3. Well the thinking behind the potential success of Canty in a 4-3 alignment is that he would be responsible for a smaller space and possibly facing a blocking mismatch on the inside. Sure its an experiment but it is one that has a high chance of success. I wouldn't consider the contract the Giants gave Canty as top dollar since the Redskins made sure that Haynesworth became the top dollar DT in the league. There have only been two other DT's in the league that have been picked up through free agency: Jovan Haye (4 year $16 million) and Colin Cole (5 year $21 million). Cole was a backup lineman for the past 4 years while Haye bounced around the league and has only been starting for the past 2 seasons. So I believe the Giants paid market value for a 4 year starter.
  4. Highly skilled compared to Sinorice Moss. See once you put it in context, it makes sense. Hixon is a number 3 receiver at best and we have a couple of those. I think Steve Smith could definitely step into Toomer's role as the number 2 lining up across the field from (insert name).
  5. More confident in him than anyone we could get in the draft and to trade for a kicker is wrong in so many ways. I always thought we should have kept Feeley and even when we brought in Tynes, I thought Huston was the better kicker. I trust the coaching staff more than what I see on the field and they trust Tynes.
  6. If we can get anything for Sinorice Moss at this point, I'd consider that a blockbuster trade.
  7. Good for Ward and even better for Bradshaw, though I feel Danny Ware is going to snag more of the snaps next season.
  8. You know most teams in the NFL are playing that retarded prevent defense to keep from giving up the big play in the last minutes of the game. That defense was good enough to get them to super bowl and it was the fact that they just couldn't get to Roethlisberger consistently and him making amazing throws downfield to move the chains at the end that sealed the deal.
  9. It was not a linebacker who scored the go ahead touchdown for the Steelers. It was that WR they drafted in the first round and that was a year that every other team in the NFL stayed away from the position in the first round. The Giants have strengthened their defense in free agency this season giving them the opportunity to strengthen the offense in the draft. Last year was the first time in a very long time that the Giants drafted a player that nearly everyone predicted they would in the first round. How can you say a WR wouldn't have made a difference in the Philly game when they clearly had no respect for the WR's we could put on the field. They stacked the box and we couldn't get the short yardage plays we did during our super bowl run.
  10. What more do you need? They drafted him when it wasn't a need and now he is moving back to defensive end to fill a need. Kiwanuka has produced and can play two positions now. IMO, its more than just his stats at the end of the season but how everyone else has played around him, how much other teams have to account for him and giving others the opportunity to make a play.
  11. There is nothing wrong with going after a WR in the first round if that player is the best on your board. Going for Crabtree though...I dunno about that one. Yeah he could drop but he's going to have to sink like a stone and there are plenty of other teams well ahead of the Giants that need a receiver of his potential.
  12. Absolutely. I still want the Giants to draft a WR and I see them moving up in the draft to get their guy. We've seen what our current stock of receivers can do and we were left lacking. Need another receiver who can stretch the field and make the catch 20 yards down field. Manningham could be that guy but we've said that about so many others in the past. I still remember when they picked up Kiwanuka and everybody said "HUH". Well that worked out very well, why not apply that logic to other key positions?
  13. There are concerns that Robbins wore down by the second half of the season. I hope we don't release Robbins because we have a hellova DT rotation with Alford, Bernard, Colfield, and Canty. Robbins is also in the last year of his contract so if he does stay for this season, it will most likely be his last with the Giants.
  14. A bit premature to be making this into a topic since he hasn't played a down yet. On paper, its a solid signing that provides us quality veteran depth that we definitely need. A six year contract for a 26 year old player means we are getting him in his prime.
  15. Cardinals of the AFC but with even less hope of success.
  16. I gotta give credit to the Redskins for picking him up and to Albert for becoming the 100 million dollar man. This is not your typical Dan Snyder move, this was the player to sign this offseason and he got the deal done quick. I bet Dan Snyder did not even blink at the thought of that contract.
  17. Let me go into this a bit further... The Dolphins bring in Bill Parcells to rebuild the organization from top to bottom. He brings in Tony Sparano and a number of coordinators and assistants. You have to wonder if they all have that same clause in their contracts? Probably not. What kind of faith can you possibly have in this team from the standpoint of the players and everyone else who doesn't have that clause in their contract. If Wayne Huizenga just brought Parcells onboard as window dressing so he can then sell it to Stephen Ross, congrats to Wayne because he succeeded. If Parcells decides to leave the Dolphins, they could be back at the bottom of the league competing with the Raiders and Lions just as quickly as they climbed out of the basement this past season. If the president of football operations can packup and leave at anytime, what does that say about the team? How can you talk to players and coaches about loyalty? How do you inspire confidence in them when you lack it? The Dolphins just seem to be smoke and mirrors which is not the way to build a successful sports franchise.
  18. Not surprising. Giants drafting a linebacker in the first round...
  19. T.O. to NY? Hope you mean the Jets. Terrell Owens is clearly on the decline and just not worth the problems that come with him.
  20. Parcell's contract The guy is a weasel to say it nicely. In the real world he is an opportunistic scumbag in the ranks of Drew Rosenhaus and Scott Boras. I know that a lot of Giants fans hold Parcell's in a place of honor for what he did for the NY Giants but everyone forgets what he has done since then. For an organization as honorable as the NY Giants he has used them as a chip in the pile, and he's done that to every team he's been with since then. Congrats to him for resting on his laurels and cashing in on it. Hope he never gets into the hall of fame, it would desecrate the shrine for the champions of the NFL.
  21. Starting to think you and Osi are the same person with this post.
  22. He definitely has the passion and doing whatever he can to get back into coaching. What he is doing is no different than what anyone of us would do. I said it back then and I'll say it again, Fassel will be back coaching an NFL team and will be successful once again this league.
