  1. and another thought - cap or no, NFL teams, with the exception of Washington, don't throw money at players just for the hell of it. I don't get paying Moss for another year....but then, being on IR will not affect his production from the last few years!
  2. There PROBABLY won't be a cap next year but it's still in effect this year, no?
  3. And remember that the Giants tried to trade Cofield on draft day.
  4. Do IR'd players still count against the cap? If so, I don't get why Moss simply wasn't cut.
  5. Nothing is "official" yet but they're almost begging Beatty to win the job, so Diehl can move inside. If Andrews can still play, he provides depth - and competition - at both guard and tackle. I still see him, at 335 lbs, as more of a guard, though.
  6. I knew exactly what this referred to, as any of us old folks would! I remember the day - I was spending the weekend with a woman I was seeing way the &%# out in Erie, Pa and I managed to pick up the game on a fuzzy out of town channel. She had never been with me for a game before and this was the first and last one she did! Remember that most of that game was a study in frustration. We weren't supposed to lose to the Vikes and I wasn't a happy camper for all but the final moments of that game.
  7. I don't have any specific predictions but I'd remind you that the we've looked horrible in the last few preseason openers. I remember saying "what the hell are they doing up there (Albany)?!?!" while watching our starters getting their butts kicked.
  8. WTF is is going on?!?! Every fucking day it's something else to worry about! I thought with 100% participation in the off season program, guys would be in shape and able to avoid injuries. Sure doesn't seem that way. Is it possible they've worked out too frequently during the off season and are fatigued?
  9. The problem to me is not so much the crime he committed - stupid as it was - but his constant defiance of team rules. The guy was habitually late to meetings and acted like rules were not meant for him. That's a cancer we don't need to revisit.
  10. Hixon was able to stand and even walked off the field after his injury. This sucks. I'll be scared shitless until I hear he's OK.
  11. Did Justin Tuck switch to LB? Hell, he isn't even the best right end at the moment, Kiwi is! Osi uses an outside speed rush 90% of the time and every OT is wise to it by now. How many more times do to want to see him fly past the QB, 5 yards too deep and well out of the play? He has to prove to me (and more importantly the Giants) that he's more than a one dimensional pass rushing DE, with one move.
  12. Somebody want to tell me why the f*ck this wasn't addressed in FEBRUARY?!?!
  13. Only time that play ever worked was in the NFC Championship Game, against the Vikings. Already up 7-0 on a 40 yarder to Hilliard, Vikes fumble the kickoff and Comella catches that little wheel route in the end zone. When that play works, you just KNOW you're going to win 41-0!!!
  14. Why are they so intent on getting the punter to be the holder? What's wrong with Sorgi holding, as he did in Indy? I know it's part logistical - the punter spends training camp and practice time hanging out with the kicker, so it's easier than pulling the back up QB away from the offense to hold.....but the backup qb is usually better at it and gives better options if you want to try a fake.
  15. That's what I'm thinking. You think Kiwi is getting a little tired of hearing Osi talk like it's an insult to be playing behind him?
  16. I was at the workout, saw it happen and got a chance to check out the turf. It's different from turf I've been on in the past - very spongy and thick, almost plush. I'm sure it's easier on the body when you hit the deck but I can definitely see that it would be easy to catch a spike, which is exactly what happened. No question he would have been a contributor in the passing game but I think we have enough depth to absorb the loss. Where it will really hurt is in the return game.
  17. Who's that, Blu? I like Kuipper & Krukow!
  18. I believe you're right. Strahan and Osi were the ends and Tuck's quickness gave interior linemen fits. They played him in the "off tackle" spot, set slightly off the line of scrimmage, giving him a little space to maneuver. He had double digit sacks that year and many thought he was the true MVP of the Super Bowl. Maybe not every down but I would like to see them get back to that more this year.
  19. Actually, Giant fans are quite classy in their treatment of visiting fans. The Cowboy fans who sat near me during their loss to the Giants last year were given an ovation as they exited with their L.
  20. He's only 28 and maybe we can write off his horrible season to getting readjusted while regaining full strength and explosiveness after losing a season to knee injury.....but nobody is going to give more than a #3 for that roll of the dice. Also, he's under a team friendly contract and wrapped up for a while, so he's worth more to keep.
  21. I was hoping for Delhomme or Garcia, guys who have played and would be good veteran ears and eyes for Eli. Figure we're not winning many games without Eli, anyway so why not have the backup be a good counselor?
  22. No way we get a #2 for Osi, not after knee surgery and a sub par year. Maybe a 3....or maybe use him to move up at some point in the draft.....But this is definitely getting tiresome and the last thing we need is this being a distraction come July in Albany.
  23. NO!!!!!!! For us....Dan Snyder, by all means, go get him!
