I was not even close to proclaiming JPP a "bust". We all knew he was inexperienced and raw and there would be a learning curve. Plus, he's got two pretty good DE's in front of him. But we've started to see that #90 flashing into the backfield a few times per game the last few weeks and it was pretty obvious to me that this kid is a player. By this time next year, it will be just as obvious to the rest of the league.

As a man who spent a lot of time, not to mention paychecks, around the NFL gambling table once told me, "respect the line". Think the Giants are little tired of hearing how they have no chance tonight? I expect them to come out with great intensity and make this a war.

I hope Big Ben out in Pittsburgh took note of this development and realizes how fortunate he is not to be in the adjoining cell.

Gotta ask yourself why he plays so rarely after a season and a half. Yeah, I know we have 3 excellent receivers in front of him but Hixon got more time with the same 3 in front of him. He's got the rest of this season and next training camp to avoid "BUST" status.

Absolutely agree. I don't see how we can NOT make the playoffs because there's so much mediocrity though the league, especially in the NFC.....but the two games with Philly will determine whether we win the NFC East and get a home playoff game or two. If we don't beat them, I'm not sure anyone else does. They have the Redskins, Bears, Cowboys and us on the road and us, Texans, Vikings and Cowboys at home. We have Cowboys, Jags, Redskins and Eagles at home and 4 road games are at Eagles, Vikings, Packers and Redskins - definitely a tougher schedule. Root hard for the Redskins to beat the Eagles on Monday night!

Earlier in the season, the deflections should have been caught but those on Monday night were on Eli - high and behind them, as noted above. He just seems a little too amped up and he's wild high with his first several passes. This is even worse when he's rolling right. This should be something correctable, though and if we can cut down the turnovers, we'll be very tough to beat.

So Belechick is inspirational? Cowboys still worry me. 3rd on offense, 4th on defense, I believe, in yards gained/allowed. Agree we need to continue to get heavy pressure on QB to prevent their excellent bunch of receivers from doing real damage.

I don't think we were tight, I think the Bear defense is damn good. But their offensive line is horrible and once our guys smelled blood, it was a feeding frenzy!

You Barden lovers are mesmerized by his size but it was clear in training camp that he's a long way from being ready to contribute and in fact, might never be. The fact that Cruz, in his first camp, passed him so quickly illustrates the point. If Hixon hadn't been hurt, odds are, Barden would have been cut. There are no tape measures or stop watches in an NFL game. He's thisclose to officially being a failed experiment.

And who do you want to replace Deihl with? Beatty had a chance to take the job in camp and clearly wasn't ready....and now he's hurt, anyway. You want to tell me Andrews can step in and handle the LT position, even though he hasn't played tackle (save for subbing this season) since college? I wish I was as sure.

We marched up and down the field mostly through the air - Eli threw for almost 400 yards! And even our rushing numbers are a bit misleading. Too many runs go for 0, 1 or 2 yards, leaving us in more difficult down and distance situations, leading to unbalanced approach. We ran 20 times, threw 50 (counting the 2 sacks). That said, I agree a lot more with the problem being mental mistakes, lack of discipline and of course, turnovers, than a lack of fire.

Right now, our O line is not performing up to what they've done in the past and as a result, the running game just isn't clicking. It's not for lack of effort. Maybe they're getting a little long in the tooth, maybe opposing defenses are anticipating our running plays through formation and tendencies, maybe all the injuries and shuffling through camp hasn't allowed them to mesh as a unit yet....but it's not for lack of effort or "fire". Or do they have the "fire" for the passing game only? Defensively, our LBs aren't a pro bowl bunch - we know that and we also know our DTs haven't been the force we hoped and we know they are still learning and getting comfortable in a new defense. But to think they aren't playing hard and all these issues can be magically solved by holding a meeting......well, I just wish - and I'm sure they just wish - it was that easy.

I don't think what we're seeing is a lack of fire but they are still learning and to a certain extent, feeling their way along in a new defense. Even a split second of uncertainty makes you tentative and that looks from afar like lack of fire. You can be as charged up as possible but until you are absolutely sell out certain what you are doing on every play, you can't fully turn the jets loose. I seem to recall a similar start under Spags.
