  1. I'm actually OK with most of that list, with a few exceptions and provided some of them can bring a return or at least not kill us cap-wise. Therein lies the caveat: cap ramifications with or without new CBA. Never been a big Jacobs guy and would love to get out from under that contract. If CBA situation allows us to release him with no cap penalty, I'd jump at opportunity. Osi should shut up and prove it on the field or be traded.....but if the best we can get is a 3rd round pick, I'll keep him and hope the 2nd year back after the knee surgery is the Osi of old. Offer me a #2 for Osi on draft day and I'd be mighty tempted..... Seubert is reasonably priced and can play up and down the line. I'd like to see an upgrade to replace him on the starting unit (which could be Diehl moving inside if we get a stud tackle) but he provides good depth. Feagles had a few bad games but he was the least of our problems. You have to give Canty a chance to show what he can do. He was hurt all year. And if there is a cap penalty, releasing him would be a killer, since he just signed a big contract....which is the same reason you couldn't trade him. And I certainly wouldn't get rid of Osi AND Canty (because I agree with you on Bernard & Robbins).
  2. I would root for Bosnian Serbs over the Cowboys.
  3. He was hurt, first in camp, then again during the season. He never got traction and a role in the chaos we called our defense. I look for a lot more out of him next year.
  4. Gotta see him healthy before making that judgment....but Robbins was nowhere near what he was before knee surgery. He's well north of 30 and just got too heavy. He's done. Hope Alford comes back strong.
  5. I'm sure we're all thinking the same thing: get Foxy to be our DC and promise him the HC job when TC retires, which may be as soon as next year or the year after. Unlikely but I can dream, can't I?
  6. Not for nothing but Bobby Gonzalez, going into this season, is 47-46 at Seton Hall and 18-34 in conference. But he's got plenty of energy.
  7. You guys gotta be kidding me! We have NO IDEA what kind of defensive coordinator Pepper J would be and I'd rather not roll the dice! OK, he has Giant history and would bring "energy" but a DC needs a hell of a lot more than that, like the X's & O's, the schemes and how to put your players in position to be successful. I want someone who has proven he knows all this. You want to add him to the staff and see what he's got? Fine. But bring him in as the DC? Sheer lunacy!
  8. Fucking Flozell. If there is any justice, his career will end with a cheap shot that caves a knee. Then he balloons to 400+ lbs shortly after retirement, needs a walker to get around, loses his money in bad investments, turns to drugs and lives out his days in a dreary, urine stinking old age home.
  9. Like to see Smith get his 100 catches, Nicks his 50 and Eli finish with a strong game to pad already impressive season stats.
  10. Agreed that Ryan has breathed life into the Jets and we need to do the same for our D. I'd remind you though, that the Jets made a few horrible coach hires before getting Ryan, so just hiring a new guy isn't always the answer. As for the Sheridan hire as opposed to going outside, it was about continuity. We had one of the best defenses in the NFL, so TC wanted someone to build on the system in place, not tear it down and start from scratch, like say, Capers and his 3 - 4 schemes would have done. Yes, we know now that Sheridan is a disaster but hindsight is always 20:20. At the time the decision was made, it made sense. Finally, what you seem to hate about TC most is his personality and I might not like that part of him any more than you but a good coach doesn't have to be Dale Carnegy and we can go down a long list of guys who were SOBs but great coaches, starting with Lombardi. And NO head coach can do much "demanding" of his GM. Check the chain of command. But obviously, both JR & TC thought Kehl, Goff, Wilkerson would start to develop by now and so did I and so did many here. No coach, no GM and certainly no fans are 100% correct in all player assessments and it looks like we've done a poor job at the LB spot. My guess is we'll find a way to correct that. But unless you are Dan Snyder, you just don't panic and fire the world at every set back.
  11. A fair weather fan, in more ways than one! But when the Giants bounce back and win the NFC East next year and the Dolphins finish 3rd in their division and out of the playoffs, what then? Take a few weeks and see what happens. You'll be following all the Giant personnel changes and rumors, you'll be hoping for certain free agents and draft picks and then you'll realize - you can't change your team, even if you really wanted to. It's part of your DNA.
  12. I root for whoever I pick in my playoff pool and that can and usually does change week to week. But the Colts are the easiest team for me to root for, just because of Peyton Manning, who I admire tremendously. Very hard to root for Cboys or Iggles.
  13. Yeah, Blu, these guys would never make it as SF Giant fans, would they?
  14. For one thing, Ware got hurt on the opening kickoff and Bradshaw was playing hurt, too. Then there's the money angle - when you're making $5M (admittedly, a JR mistake), if there's anyway you can play, you're going to play......which is the same reason, Jacobs will be back next year. As for Coughlin, this is the first time he hasn't made the playoffs in 5 years. He's made adjustments and corrections when needed in the past and I'd have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he can do it again, including changes to the staff. Besides, firing a guy after the first non-playoff year in 5 years sounds like Danny Boy Snyder down in DC. Now, that said, the honeymoon is now clearly over. He's officially coaching to keep his job going into next year. One more thing - what do cheerleaders have to do with ANYTHING?!?! You can sit right where you are now, Jack and see all the tail you want with a few keystrokes. Have fun.
  15. I think you mean the Sheraton, on Route 3 East, right across from the stadium (at least that's what I've used) and yes, that's a great place to park. You can go into the lobby to use the bathrooms (as opposed to the endless porto-john lines in the stadium lot) and there is also a bar, if you don't want to tailgate in the cold. Also, you're out in a flash after the game. Only thing you have to check is if the lot will be open for football parking. If they have too many weddings, etc going on in the hotel, they don't open for football. You can call ahead and check.
  16. Parking pass gets you into the lot. Once in, you can park in any section - there are no assigned areas. The pass is paid for in advance, so there is no charge on game day. Enjoy!
  17. Assuming Philly beats Denver and Cards beat Rams this week, it comes down to: who wins the tie-breaker between Philly & Arizona? If Philly, Cards will be locked into 4th seed by week 17 and will have nothing to play for. If Arizona wins tie-breaker, they can take 3rd seed by beating GB while Dallas beats Philly, both finish 11-5....so they'd have that to play for - 3rd seed instead of 4th (for what it's worth). Of course, that's assuming both cards & Philly win this week.
  18. Best shot is Dallas losing to Philly week 17. 2nd best would be GB losing in Arizona (also week 17), except that Arizona will probably be slotted already, so they'll have nothing to play for. Tough to conjure up a scenario where Dallas loses in Washington, after what we saw Monday night and even harder to imagine Seattle coming into GB and winning this Sunday. Here's the double edged sword - Philly will need to beat Dallas to win the NFC East, so they will be playing all out....but that also provides Minnesota with motivation, as they will need to beat us to hold onto the 2nd seed. It's a dicey path any way you slice it.
  19. Enjoying a nice cool day here in hell - I agree with jack ( ! ) about letting Sheridan go upstairs. They wanted an emotional guy to fire everyone up on the sideline while he coached but that's just not Sheridan's style. Don't try to put the round peg into the square hole! He's a more studious, study the chessboard kind of coach. So you make him stay on the sideline, where he's worthless at getting players fired up AND you take away what he probably does best - study the chessboard. That said, he might suck just as bad from upstairs but why not take a shot at letting him do it the way he wanted to in the first place? Couldn't be any worse, that's for sure.
  20. And check this out from the Giants website: Breaking News A limited number of tickets are available for this Sunday's home game against the Eagles (8:20 PM ET). Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com, IZOD Center Box Office or Ticketmaster Outlets. Read More! I saw tickets listed in the mez end zone & between the 30s upstairs. Know what this means - lots of Eagle fans will be there
  21. Seen the weather forecast? Anyone wanting to go only has to hang around a gate 30 minutes before game time. Keep eyes & ears open and you'll get in for less than face. 40 degrees, rain & wind. I'm fine with the couch and my Samsung thanks!
  22. And we'll never have THAT game breaker again, either. We have a better chance of seeing God than Plax in a Giant uniform again.
  23. Don't kid yourself. IF we're still in the hunt after the Philly game, Washington will be another huge challenge. It's an NFC East Division game on the road and their D is the real deal. They've come ridiculously close to beating Dallas, Philly & NO in recent weeks and they will be pumped for us. But let's get by Philly first!
  24. I read another good come back by Pat Hanlon, who said, "tell Flozell that Mr. Nobody has a nice piece of jewelery he'd like to show him"!
