  1. AND, I got the feeling the Giants were a little disappointed that Beatty didn't look better in camp. What was expected to be a serious competition never really materialized.
  2. And this tired, old argument comes up again now because.....?
  3. Oh, we've drafted them - mostly middle round picks (though Sintim was a 2), hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and it just hasn't happened. Looks like Dillard might be the latest of these.
  4. Translation: he's a moron who shoots off his mouth before he thinks and doesn't seem to notice that he's ineffective......besides, who'd want him?
  5. Problem is, who'd want him? Giants can give us the standard company line - that he's a productive player and an important part of the team - all they want. What the hell else are they going to say? But if anybody offered anything for him at this point, he'd be gone in a meadowlands minute!
  6. Yeah, I'm getting a strong hunch this will be a very long year, culminating with (the only good news) the highest draft slot we've had in years. You want to tell me it takes time for a new DC's scheme to mesh, as with Spags? I'd like to think so but the LBs are just not good enough and the DTs never seem to be the force you hope they'd be. And on O, our OL looks like they've turned the corner. Fortunately, I don't think it necessarily has to be a long rebuilding process. We have a very good QB, with excellent young receivers and Bradshaw can still be a better than average back. Defensively, we have 3 good young corners and, if Phillips stays healthy, two excellent young safeties (with a solid vet in Grant...but who knows how long he'll be here?). The problem has been the draft - the OLs and LBs we've drafted have not been able to step in and play at a high level.
  7. I'm not sure the game plan exists that will make Jacobs look good. Even little guys can trip him up easily. I predict he won't even be in the league in another year or two. Hope he invested wisely. Anybody know if, with the collective bargaining situation, we're still on the hook for his whole contract? I know there was a window when we could have walked away from it. Given the opportunity at this point, you'd have to believe we'd RUN away from it!
  8. Anybody who watched Matt effing Moore convert multiple 3rd and longs against our secondary would be crazy not to worry about what Peyton manning will do! And i wouldn't count on Peyton throwing brain dead interceptions down near the goal line to bail us out, either.
  9. Kickers sometimes go through ups and downs, as does their confidence and mechanics. Right from the beginning of training camp this year, Tynes has been in a groove. It's like a golfer when the stroke is right (something I know nothing about!) - he's hitting everything clean and true. I'll ride that as long as it lasts and hope it lasts a long time! Sometimes people hate just out of habit. Right now, Tynes is a very good kicker. As for Dodge, the Giants have invested too much time in him to just give up on him after one game. They obviously saw something they liked when they drafted him and must be seeing good things during practice - enough to give him a little more time, anyway. Remember too, he's the holder who's been working with Tynes exclusively. Cutting Dodge means messing with the good thing Tynes has going now, too.
  10. My problem was the 3rd downs. We let a mediocre QB convert far too many 3rd and longs. Do that against Peyton Sunday night and we're toast. Wouldn't count on him - or many QBs - throwing us gifts down near the end zone.
  11. For us peons in the NYC area with plain old vanilla cable (no NFL Network), this is a great NFL Sunday! Giants/Panthers at 1:00, of course but also have Pats/Bengals at same time (small kitchen tv gets moved to living room!), then Eagles/Packers at 4:15 and Redskins/Cowboys at night! Mix in beer and food and I'm in heaven
  12. If Namath is in, then every QB with more ints than TDs should also be in! He's the most overrated, over-hyped QB is history!
  13. Tiki was on his way to compiling numbers that would have made it impossible to keep him out of the HOF......but he walked away. Another 2 years at the production level of his final year and he would have been a cinch. Now he's a toss up, at best.
  14. Article is written by someone with selective memory. Does he not recall TC "reinventing" himself a year ago? Does he not recall all the players saying, while he wasn't running the good ship lollipop, he was more interested in them as people and allowed a personality to show though for the first time? Does he not remember the player's council TC formed, so he could get feedback? And finally, does he not recall that Jacobs can be an overemotional baby, who speaks before thinking whenever he's unhappy?

  16. who puts this info out first? link?
  17. I guess they're going to keep Ramses (the project) Barden. I bet Hagen is in the league long after that project is done.
  18. Except why the hell would the Bears part with Olsen? They love that Jersey boy out there!
  19. They invested a lot of time and development in Bomar, so this surprises me. Have to think they're confident he'll pass through waivers and make back to our practice squad.
  20. Trouble is, while he's "wearing them down" you're getting a lot of 1, 2 and 3 yard runs! How many 2nd and 8s do you want to look at? And I would disagree that it takes more than one guy to bring him down. Just brush him low and you trip him up! I thought it was a mistake when they panicked and gave him $25M for 5. If the new collective bargaining agreement allows us to walk away from his deal, I'd RUN!
  21. 5th next year AND a conditional? Pretty steep. The return guy better be good.
  22. Understandable that he's unhappy but I find some of his language alarming, especially "backstabbing". Is that directed at his friend Bradshaw? the GM? Ingram? Coughlin? He's saying it's a business and not personal but I get the feeling he's taking this VERY personally. We've seen in the past that we're not talking about the most mature guy in the world here and this could easily get worse.
  23. Heard peter King a little earlier on FAN and he said the only way the Giants get him if Cards waive/release him, so he costs nothing AND he gets by all the teams that would have a crack at him before Giants. King figures he'd never get past Seattle. And besides, Cards think he's an immature kid and I'd just as soon have Bomar for half the money.
  24. That's a pretty sweeping generalization about the players, don't you think? I think many more of them are decent guys, who have talents 99.9% of the world does not. Plus, their career can be ended on the next play and even in best case scenario, they're done right about the time most careers are just taking off. It's always about supply and demand - there are only so many people in the world who can fill stadiums and who TV will lay out BILLIONS for the right to broadcast.
