  1. I guess they want some bulk, not just backs & ends with good hands. Noticed Goff was also on that unit.
  2. Weiss or Gil? That's like Pierce or Blackburn! In both cases, I think we can do better.
  3. Yeah, we all agreed Chase was OK/good. Nothing that makes me say we've found our guy but I'm not panicked about the spot, either.......but what would you expect Tuck or any other teammate to say? That was classic cliche-speak. Next comes, "we have plenty of confidence that he can get the job done..."
  4. If anything, I think Sheridan is doing TOO MUCH rotating, especially early in the game. 1st qtr yesterday, Giants had the ball almost the entire time. D held Atlanta to a 3 & out on their 1st possession. 2nd time they get it, they have a 3rd and long and OSI & TUCK ARE NOT ON THE FIELD!!!! WTF?!?!? They sure as hell weren't winded already. I think part of the problem is he's getting too cute with all the personnel packages. Get your horses on the field and in position to make plays!
  5. Frankly Jack, I'm disappointed it took you so long!
  6. Wow! I'm guessing Chase gets first crack at it. And we hear from Jack in 3....2....1....
  7. No way Shanahan goes to Buffalo. Unlike TO, Shanahan has other options, like Washington or, if they spit the bit come playoff time again, Dallas. People only go to Buffalo if they truly have nowhere else to go. Sounds like the perfect spot for Gilbride!
  8. An NFL season takes many sudden, strange, unpredictable turns. What seems certain one week is obsolete the next. For instance, the Eagles were 5-5 after 10 games last year and we had them counted out. Our record is much less important right now than how we're playing.
  9. I know, I guess a 4 game skid has me a little grouchy. I'm just saying, going into the weekend, one game out with 7 to go was not "out" of the hunt. And tied for a spot or not, if we don't play better than we have, we won't be "In" the hunt.
  10. Thank you! We were not "out of it" after last week, nor are we "in" now! We have to play better than we have. If we do, we'll make it, if we don't, we won't. Really quite simple!
  11. To make the playoffs, it's not only how many games they win, it's who they win them against. Going 5-2 to finish 10-6 MIGHT get them in IF 3 of those wins are against Atlanta, Philly & Dallas. Lose any of those 3 games and forget it. Good news is, all are at home (then again, so was Arizona & SD
  12. The football might suck (hopefully not!) but the weather should be perfect! I'm going, my first game of the year. Must admit - I'm more nervous than pumped. Giant games are great when they win and a long, nightmare day if they lose. I'm begging whatever God still hears me: please make it a good day! So, who else is going? Anyone pregaming in the lot beforehand?
  13. You guys still watching that garbage? Jets/Dolphins is a great game! Under the "misery loves company" dept - I'm enjoying watching the Jets losing ! Following the Giants online. For the sake of my blood pressure, it's better that way. Sometimes I just have to divorce my emotions (or my wife will end up divorcing me!).
  14. I don't think it's his heel. I think he's getting confused by what's happening right after the snap. When Eli gets the look he expects after snap and gets time - which was happening the first few weeks - he's very accurate. But when he gets a different defense than he expected from his pre-snap read, he gets that uncomfortable, jumpy look. His decisions look rushed and uncertain, the throwing motion gets jerky and the ball sails. That's what I believe has happened the last few weeks and what will continue to happen until our OC gets his head out of his ass or gets fired.
  15. And now even the announcers are hinting that Sheridan is getting beat, saying "I can't believe what the Eagles are doing to this defense!", clearly inferring that they should be better and the Eagles Offensive coordinator has been a "step ahead", while showing Sheridan on the sideline. Our inept coordinators are getting to be well known.
  16. Our coordinators - on both sides of the ball - are getting beat in the film room before the game even starts. Combine that with HORRIBLE tackling and we're sucking canal water.
  17. Larry Johnson? The KC running back? Really? Why? Our running backs are the least of our problems! (and besides, the trade deadline has passed)
  18. I've been going to games since Yankee Stadium. Saw the great teams with Conerly (then Tittle), Gifford, Rote, Huff, et al. But that 86 team was the best Giant team I ever saw. Give them a shout out for me.
  19. Little of both....and also Sheridan's stubborn refusal to send blitzes from every angle (like NO did to Eli) when it became clear that the front 4 simply could not generate any pressure on Brees on their own!
  20. From a Star Ledger article this morning: "After Sunday's performance, the Giants may work out free agent safeties. Coughlin also didn't rule out moving a corner-back to the safety position, saying, 'I sure would like to get our whole roster back' ". Obviously, we all wish Phillips was coming back but that ship has sailed for this year. I assume he's talking about Ross returning, which would give them the depth needed to switch a corner to safety. What is clear is that they don't intend to sit tight. Whether they can get anything done, either through trade or signing somebody off the street who would be an upgrade - both unlikely - is questionable.....but if they don't make a move, it won't be for lack of trying.
  21. Beats having scrambled brains!
  22. Yeah, he made the mistake of getting old! But when he came over from KC, his first 5 seasons with the Saints were off the charts. From 2000 to 2005, he averaged 87 receptions, 1250 yards and 9 TDs per year.
  23. Hamstring simply has not responded to treatment. They are being extra cautious now because they thought it was healed once already and he re-injured himself first day back. I wouldn't count on seeing him, Boley or Canty until Thanksgiving.
  24. Don't do it! Always pick the Giants! Here's the way I have looked at this through the many years of pools: With the point spread, every game is a toss up - you have a 50% chance of winning or losing any game. if I pick the Giants and they lose (point spread or outright), that is an acceptable risk - I'll sink or swim with my team. But if i pick against them and they win, that brings all sorts of rancid karma down upon me and that is NOT an acceptable risk!
