Nope, and I’ve been saying we should call them up to try and get something for Barkley for a while.  Maybe this helps those chances now

Trade Barkley for a 3rd or 4th rounder and be done with it. We need the $7M in cap space to build a competent OL.

This... just bite the bullet and let him move on.  The Brokebacks made major bank on jettisoning bullshit Herschel Walker when they could.  We should do the same.  Take no prisoners.  This is a total rebuild from scratch.

I think our offense can be up to "respectable" in short order if Shoen makes a few easy steps.

1.  Drop as many bloated contracts as you can, and trade Saquon.  I think by my last calculation you can free up to 40 million if we trade Saquon and Bradberry/Rudoph and Martinez.

2. Pick up two free agent O-linemen.  There is a glut of guards available;  Sherff is going to be the big-ticket guy, but Laken Tomlinson and Mark Glowinski are guys that should be within our price range.  If we wanna go on the lower (but still quality) end, Andrew Norwell and Trai Turner both played above-average this year, don't seem to be garnering much interest, and can help immediately.  If his back checks out, I love RT Tyrell Crosby as a backup.

3.  IF we can't trade down, use two picks on linemen. Ikem Ekwonu and Tyler Linderbaum would be my two picks. If we decide to go for a pass-rusher in the first (I love George Karlaftis), then Ed Ingram would be a day-one starter in the second that can play all three positions on the inside.

4.  Draft Breece Hall in the second.  He's going to be the next Shaun Alexander.

So potentially we could have a line that's Thomas-Bredeson-Linderbaum-Tomlinson-Ekwonu, with Crosby as a backup/pusher for starting time, with Breece Hall running behind them.   If we got anything out of Gates or Peart in backup roles, it would just be gravy (I think we have to stick with Bredeson for now, though I'd like to upgrade in the future).

Not sure why anyone would trade anything for Barkley right now.

Two teams traded first round picks for Brandon Cooks. Hell, we laid a third for Leonard Williams. Someone with an extra third would take a chance on Barkley.

Defensive tackles and wide receivers have more value than running backs in all fairness.

Anyone with a line. Cardinals, New England, even the Jets (and he wouldn't even have to move). We may not get what we want for him, but someone will take him no doubt.

Yeah exactly. A third or fourth is not too much to ask for him. He's not getting a second contract here, and he doesnt give you much that a third-round rookie won't be able to at 1/l0 the price. Some really competitive team will think they can get 2018 Saquon outta him and take a shot.

This... Herschel Walker his ass and get a third or even a fourth-round pick for him.  He will get eaten alive here behind a makeshift line and his now endemic dancing.  He needs a Barry Sanders type team that is in the playoff hunt.
