Lughead
Looks like we will get around the 19th pick in the draft. But, I don't know other teams trade scenarios from years back nor other team draft penalties. SO the 2013 season starts now for the Giants draft team. where do we look first. to me its clearly OL DL and LB CB/S
MikeGL
I want offensive-line or Linebacker, but I can see the team going 1st round CB for some reason.
Allstarjim
I think they need to put a very high priority on fixing the OL. But the good news is they have their RT and C, LG as well if they re-sign Boothe. I'd like them to be active in free agency for a RT, and maybe get another OT or OG in the 2nd or third round as well. BPA in the first, for sure, but hoping that BPA is a dominant DT or CB, and wouldn't be disappointed with a stud DE or LB, either.
Lughead
I want offensive-line or Linebacker, but I can see the team going 1st round CB for some reason. I didn't mean any of all those choices with our first pick Just areas of concern through out the whole draft. Of course there is trade dates also. the on thing on defense that killed us this year is over the middle or up the middle . I think Linval Joseph will still do ok in the middle . Austin is a ghost .(probably Done if he cant cut it in mini camp, for some reason he reminds me of Livar Arrington on the Segway) But to spell Joseph we may need another DT . Bernard has to be used up no? since Coughlin has became Head coach we have had a need for a stud Lb and although Chase plays with all his heart and what his body allows he is the closest Coughlin has had as a Stud Lb. So I feel we may need to look at DT or LB . Of course there is the OSi Saga we will have to endure again. and then what about Tuck?
Mr. P
I haven't started my looking at players process yet, but depending on who is available I think I'd be happy with anything besides qb, kicker, punter or fullback in the 1st round. boohyah
Honestly, around 19 usually means that any stud offensive lineman will be off the board, so my feeling is defensive line or corner will be around where our :"best available athlete" credo will fall. UK-Giantsfan
This team is built around Eli and his protection. We need to allow him the time to be the accurate QB he was in 2011 and have much better, consistent blocking for the Running Game too. We therefore have to rebuild the O Line as an absolute priority IMO

Allstarjim
No matter what, NO rookie is going to be able to fix our OL next season. It is an absolute imperative that Reese goes into free agency to get a starting RT, and it doesn't matter if we draft the highest rated tackle in the draft, either. We still need an established RT for Eli in free agency. The draft has to be considered as getting players that can help for future years, but the help we need for next season really should come from free agency. Lughead
Is Osi Trade worthy? Osi only started 4 games this year? If he is trade worthy what could we get for him every year its less and less. and it is showing in his stats. We are 2 years away from his max trade value. we could" buffalo" Jax new owner maybe? would a MJD for Osi straight up be a worthy trade to us? or a wasted trade? Ok let ask this another way. What team would logically trade with us for Osi and what player be involved in the trade I am sure we wouldn't take a Practice squad player. Mr. P
2014 yeah but next season is a 'voidable' year, put there so the giants could spread the money over 2 years and because osi wanted out. its still likely osi is gone next year.

As far as the draft, at pick 19 we could still land stud RT, but blue chip LTs are pretty much out of the question. I'd take any position beaides qb, rb, wr, or fucking de. I'd love a starting calibur RT or LB first, but would be happy with a S, CB, or DT as well.

Beatty and Boothe on the left isn't to bad. Its the right side Snee and Diehl I think that is getting stale now if we do get get a good get a high caliber LT then maybe Beatty can slide to the to RT, wasn't he there before? The breakdown of his new deal goes like this: Umenyiora got a $2 million signing bonus and is due a base salary of $2.5 million. He'll get a $500,000 roster bonus and a $250,000 reporting bonus. The remaining $750,000 will be paid off in a per-game bonus - $46,875 for every game he plays. Umenyiora's cap number will be about $4.6 million. The deal also includes a $1 million salary in 2013, but that's a "voidable year" of the deal, meaning he is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next March. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/osi-umenyiora-restructured-contract-ny-giants-year-6m-doesn-include-incentives-article-1.1090283

Beatty is more of a quick feet and finesse guy which is what you want to protect the QBs blind side, but for RT you need more of a mauler/road grater, which Beatty is not. Also, if we bring back Boothe as well we're talking about a good chunk of money tied up in two guys along the line, leaving an average Baas, ineffective Diehl, and injured Snee/Locklear as the only guys that are definitely returning. We're pretty much going to have to spend a high pick on the OL somewhere.

This^ like Jim mentioned in another thread Bushrod or Vollmer would work. I don't see us going that direction in round one. We gave up 20 sacks, the least in the NFL. Iceman_NYG
A lot of that has to do with Eli's ability to not take a sack. Exactly. The number of times he hurried throws or threw the ball away was to avoid the sack. Our OL sucked for most part of the season except for a few games and our DL sucked as well. Goes to show - these fuckers practice against each other and they both sucked. Hence we sucked.
