  1. I like the trade. Have to put some pass catchers on this team.
  2. That was a great free agency period. The Plax deal specifically, I remember there being a real question if he would sign, multiple visits, looked like it wouldn't get done. But that was a long time ago.
  3. As the NY Giants equipment manager, VG has been busy ordering red alternate jerseys and gray pants for the season. But he has had time to drop a few note to Seph, Herc, and Shakes on some directions they could go. First, recognizing there is a WR on a team that doesn't want to be there, that might be had at an attractive price, the Giants make a move. Giants Trade their rd 2 pick in 2023, plus, I dunno, a 5th rd pick this year and a conditional 4th round pick in 24 to the Cardinals for DeAndre Hopkins. Giants probably some guys. Going into the draft, with WR1 settled, the Giants can start looking to fill other needs. 25: Deondre Banks, CB, Maryland 89: Steve Avila, OG, TCU 100: Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan St 128: Israel Abanikanda, RB, Pitt 160: Braeden Daniels, OG, Utah 172: Jaxon Player, DT, Baylor 209: Shaka Heyward, LB, Duke 240: Josh Whyle, TE, Cincinnati 243: Tommy DeVito, QB, Illinois Michael Jefferson, WR LA After the draft, they gang realized VG just did a 10 minute draft simulator and realize, they fucked up listening to him.
  4. Think I heard something similar yesterday. Giants are expecting him to be a top ten qb but won’t be posting him as one in a couple years. Front end risk, back end reward. Makes me a little happier
  5. So it is what it is. If he earns it, it is a fair deal, if he doesn't, it is a bad deal. Looks like a bad deal based on the body of work so far, a lot is riding on the real Daniel Jones being the one in a couple games last year and not the one that failed to earn a 5th year option.
  6. Thinking it, didn't want to say it. But franchise is a good option. Worst case scenario is he comes in plays really well and we can't sign him next year. But I think if we are in a position to WANT to resign him, we'll open the checkbook next year. Guy has to show more than he has for that kind of payday that will limit the team in so many ways. If he were Mahomes, where we knew he was going to carry the team and win a lot of games because of his greatness, you pay him that kind of money. Maybe he's going to be that guy, but he has to show he is first and in 4 years he has not shown even that many flashes of true greatness. Feats of athleticism, a few good throws, toughness, grit, a will to win - yes, but flat out greatness? Not much of that so far.
  7. Best thing for Jones to do would be to sign a 3 year deal for $30mil per, let the team build a roster around him to set him up for success for those three years and build on his '22 performance, let Burrow and Herbert reset the market and sign a mega-deal in 3 years with theoretically a few years of growth and proven success and a roster that can compete around him. Asking for 45-48 million right now says 2 things. 1: Fuck the Giants for declining the 5th year option and now having faith in me, pay up fuckers. 2: He has as many questions about himself as anyone else and wants his money now. Neither are great looks imo. I understand starting way high is a negotiating tactic in an owners league rather than a players league like MLB. But I'd take Carr on a 3 year deal and save 10 million a year while building a roster around the QB of the future when we find him in the draft next year. Even consider trading back in the first round to get some capital to move up. Even with a playoff win this team is fully rebuilding and it needs to be done right. Paying DJ > 40 million hamstrings the team if he is anything less that really good going forward, as in, that performance in the Vikings game would have to be his floor, not his ceiling.
  8. I just don't see how we can pay anything near this. Franchise him, let him prove his $50 million a year salary. If he does, we pay it, if not, we look for a QB in next year's draft. In the mean time we try to build draft capital and build a young core group that will mature in a couple years and compete for a SB with a QB on a rookie contract. I just can't see limiting teams ability to find other pieces by resetting the QB market with a guy that will go into next year with almost as much of a question mark as he did this year.
  9. This is like that time I posted a poll asking SW who they thought the gay SW was. Poll was limited to 20 choices and most of the replies were people upset they weren't on the poll.
  10. Sorry bro, I looked in about 8 threads and guess you weren't in any of them.
  11. In an effort to truly change the course of the New York Giants.... Sportswrath LLC consisting of Nemesis, C. Wagon, Shredder, Tree, and Bonji purchase controlling interest of the New York Giants. In their first act the ownership groups decides to revamp the front office. Sharing General Manager and Scouting duties will be Seph, Herc, and Shakes. A championship caliber team needs championship caliber coaching, and the front office makes the following moves to the coaching staff. Head Football Coach: Boohyah Offensive Coordinator: Bronxrik Defensive Coordinator: TBCvP QB Coach: Pdouble RB Coach: jranieli WR Coach: JGF Oline/TE: Gorilla Dline: BlueInCanada LB: Trashtalker DB: Iceman Any team thinking of competing for a ring needs motivation and team spirit. Head cheerleader / QB Fluffer: Nas Nas will be pulling double duty as special teams coach. The team will make a corresponding move by moving the special teams practice field to the parking lot of Giants Stadium (which as you can see has had the rightful name restored). VG will be taking over as equipment manager. In his first act he makes the following unilateral decisions: Giants will play home games with the NY helmet logo and away games with the GIANTS logo. and red alternate jerseys with gray pants will be worn for 2 home games per year.
  12. So this is pretty much a complete reversal on where I've been. But I don't know that we should sign Jones and Barkley. I think most of the jury is still out on Jones. As much as he improved and as much as I want to see him continue to improve, are we really going to give him Mahomes money to see what he can become, maybe? And Barkley, I fucking love that man, and it breaks my heart, but is THIS the team to devote that much money to a runningback? With a lot of holes to fill? That is two guys who would take a fucking chunk of cap space that maybe shouldn't? I really don't know. My bias for both of them says do it, but realistically these are two contracts that determine the next several years of Giants football.
  13. Loses top 5 (maybe top 3) WR in the NFL = wins MVP and goes to SB.
  14. I think that is getting too cute with the rules. That was a catch.
  15. He really is phenomenal. He has all the intangibles of Peyton Manning with insane mobility, pocket presence, and ability to throw on the run. He's like the perfect blend of Fran Tarkenton, Dan Marino, and Joe Montana.
  16. When 11 players end up across the line of scrimmage, that is a pretty good O line.
  17. I don't care if Toney gets MVP. Fuck the Eagles.
  18. He certainly deserves it, and others guys as well. But to me, they can just give that award to Andy Reid every year. It seems clear he is the best coach in football and has been for a long time. Sure he's had the luxury of having a talented roster pretty much his whole career, but he gets every drop out of them. They lost one of the best receivers in the league and that offense never missed a beat. Year in, year out, Andy Reid teams are in the hunt for a championship.
  19. If there is a warm body with a history of successfully playing the wide receiver position at an NFL level, and we can potentially afford them, we should be interested.
  20. Watched it with my roommates. Had sworn off Sam Adams for two weeks and as soon as it was over I popped one open.
  21. I have an authentic LT blue and authentic Eli white. I've got a replica Strahan SB jersey that I got real cheap right after the SB, but it is too small. I pretty much just wear the LT jersey if I'm in a situation to wear a jersey (watching games at a sportsbar). I did wear it to work Monday just cuz, but that was the first time. Gave a ton of replica jerseys to my nephew several years ago - Tiki, Shockey, Eli, Toomer, and a bunch more.
  22. Oh I fucking love beans. I know traditionally chili is made sans beans, but I love it with beans and ground beef.
