  1. I agree with this. I think stud may be a strong word, but he always holds his own. I'm sure not going to crap on him because Ware beat him once or twice. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Beatty handled his shit against Ware for the most part on Sunday. Give me a left tackle that holds down Ware for all but a few snaps all game, I'll take that any day.
  2. Never knew that. Still, getting accepted and going to any college is a good thing.
  3. Yeah, I just realized, I said UCLA... but was thinking of USC the entire time. UCLA, Cal, those are damn good schools. But it really depends on what program you're in. A lot of the big state universities are hit and miss. For example, Clemson has a bad reputation overall, I've heard people trash it on several occasions. But they have a top notch agriculture program.
  4. I guess UCLA. 2nd choice is North Carolina.
  5. Oh, those are all great schools, but they're also the exceptions that prove the rule. Much respect to Notre Dame, most notably but far from the only one, for refusing to water down their academic standards merely to field a good football team. And Tree, I'm not intending to use the athletes as the barometer for a school's academics. Rather I'm using the school as a barometer for the player. I'm just saying that with some colleges, if a player went there you know they're probably a smart guy or they worked hard to get there, or some combination thereof; basically, their head is probably on straight. Notre Dame is a good example, Brady Quinn not withstanding. With others - and you can certainly count Michigan or Boston College on this list - you don't really know that you're getting somebody that is truly up to the standards of the university as a whole.
  6. Thats not good for the Dennis community.
  7. I don't think he is either, I'm just throwing shit out there. Because we know there has to be something more than the fumbles, something that is causing Coughlin to keep this guy on a damn short leash. Maybe its just the 'I'm going to the hall of fame' comments, maybe Coughlin is trying to keep his head on straight.
  8. heh, that guy is dumb like a fox. I get the feeling he knows exactly what he's doing.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure plenty of smart people went there. But so did Michael Vick. It makes me glad I didn't go to a BCS school... the antics in their football programs often give the school's academics a bad name.
  10. hahaha, I've known two black guys named Dennis.
  11. I mean, Virginia Tech isn't known for turning out braniacs.
  12. That is what confuses me... everything I've read about his work ethic is outstanding. Remember, this is a kid who insisted on wearing a suit and tie to college classes. His attitude always seems mind-numbingly positive. Is he just... fucking stupid?
  13. Yeah, but if we're talking about the pick 6 off Scott's shoulder, that wasn't a good throw either. I put that one 75/25 on Scott/Eli. Still, if Wilson is in there, its a completion and probably a nice gain.
  14. You see Alfred Morris last night? ...he played the entire game despite a few mishaps even uglier than Wilson's. I have talked up Wilson, but if he's getting the hook this quick I have to wonder what is going on in practice, meeting rooms, etc. Maybe something isn't right there.
  15. He looked like the real deal yesterday. Of course, I'll give you even odds that the Green Bay D is near the bottom of the league this season and that those passing stats yesterday mean nothing. But we'll see... very efficient game yesterday.
  16. ah.... didn't have him on my radar, but good call.
  17. meh... the same shit was said when Rob Ryan was brought on board.
  18. the exception that proves the rule.
  19. Pretty sure there was somebody right on Eli on that second screen-pass-from-hell. If I'm wrong about that, then you've got a point, but on a screen pass if there is a rush coming the RB has to get his head around much sooner, as in immediately. The first screen-pass-from-hell.... that was a real WTF moment for me. Ware was in Eli's line of sight, I don't know how he missed him. I'm not worried about Wilson's yards per carry... just a few touches, no meaningful numbers there. Loading a replay of that pick 6 now... meanwhile, other high points... definitely Randle, How about a healthy Nicks? I thought he looked like a beast out there. ah, you're right... there really wasn't any pressure. It also wasn't thrown as hard as I thought either. Definitely a little sloppy on Eli's part, if the throw was between Scott's numbers there is no pick.
  20. I didn't think he was holding it loose and away from his body either... good defense there, and probably too much effort from Wilson. I expected better things from him than a more amicable version of Ricky Watters.
  21. The Cowboys looked like a 5-11 team, IMO... the strips on Wilson were quality plays, but the other turnovers were pure charity. I agree, Giants definitely should have lost by more. Any half decent team would have had that game over by the half.
  22. How do you know they weren't trying to get him to hold the ball high and tight? I love Wilson's talent, but I'm starting to wonder if he has a ten cent head... or maybe he's just pressing out there, putting too much pressure on himself. Thing is, Da'Rel Scott also cost the team a touchdown... he didn't get around on that screen pass, result = pick 6. I wager Wilson would have made a play on that ball. So Wilson is going to have to play, and play a lot, because Scott is every bit as mistake prone.
  23. On second thought, lets skip the David Wilson topic.
  24. I think Eli has his best statistical season to date, in large part because I also think David Wilson will have a breakout season. That guy has nice hands, he might break out in the passing game as much as he does as a runner. And I'm also confident he'll learn to block - the man delivers a blow when he's running, so he has the tools, just very little experience. Anyway... I foresee lots of little easy completions out of the backfield in Eli's near future, and a QB rating artificially above his normal. I expect shit out of the defense. Maybe if JPP gets back up to speed... then maybe they won't suck too hard. I don't think the schedule is too bad this season, I'd be disappointed with less than 10 wins. That would really suck to miss the playoffs with another 10 win season.
