  1. Not many Giants on the roster who have been here longer than five years, still counting their weeks. Average length of a player's career in the NFL is a little over three years. Not many teams have players who have ten plus year careers with one team.
  2. Yeah the IR schedule is a feature they should keep. Also the expanded practice squad with player protection.
  3. You are talking about individual players within the very short NFL timespan of five years. Jenkins is doing pretty good in New Orleans, Odell Beckham Jr continues to be the same player he was for the NY Giants, etc. I don't think it is quite that simple to point to players who have gone to other teams or have left the NFL completely. It is a team game and you have to depend on the rest of the roster to win every single week. Some guys are simply better backups than starters or role players over leaders. Cofield and Joseph aren't even in the picture over the last five years of NY Giants Football and there have been other Giants who were drafted since then and play elsewhere just not many. I'm past looking at the Jerry Reese era and focused on Dave Gettleman and the players he has drafted or brought in through free agency. Doesn't make a difference how good a player is if the coaching is a problem. Shurmur was liked and couldn't win, Spagnuolo was also liked and couldn't convince anyone he could win, McAdoo failed as a leader in the face of adversity. I don't know what Joe Judge can do yet after two close losses we are here wondering if he can seal the deal and turn the team around and the hard answer is we need to wait and see. I don't want to wait and see after 14 more games like the last 2, lets get some wins!
  4. The difference being the number of coaching changes within those five years. Roster has been overturned twice now with the results being the same. Problem has been coaching not talent.
  5. Engram has a talent for showing up after every other weapon on the team goes down. Williams got double teamed regularly and they went away from him regularly. Bradberry continues to impress and Martinez dropped off a bit but remains dependable. Offensive line had a rough first half but picked it up in the second half. Giants were in this game until the end again, just didn't end in their favor. On an odd note, Jason Garrett looks to have aged about twenty years in the offseason. With Barkley gone most likely for the season we turn to Deon Lewis and Wayne Gallman Jr.
  6. Starting to get tiresome watching Ballentine beaten like a dead horse.
  7. I don't see five years of losing. I saw two years of losing with Shurmur, one year losing with McAdoo/Spagnuolo, etc. Yeah right now I'm at two games losing with Judge and two years losing with Gettleman. I guess it is a weird way of looking at it but it works for me.
  8. He was there to make the tackle and force the fourth down in the second quarter, but we lost the game so it doesn't count.
  9. I think he is used to the pocket collapsing and believes he can get around it but at this level the odds are against him.
  10. I think that play in the first quarter when Barkley ran for 18 yards is the play he initially was hurt. I don't think the Giants really did a good job of evaluating him or they spent more time looking at his arm over his leg. Though how much can an x-ray do when it comes to a soft tissue injury...Him coming back in so quickly is what took him out of the game. Hard to decipher and second guess it all as it happens, you have to trust what a player says at that time. Have to wonder if they really spent the time to look him over if they could have limited his potential of a more severe injury.
  11. I can look back on games Slayton has dominated in. Opponents are working on limiting the effectiveness of Slayton, he is not being ignored on the field and therefore producing.
  12. Juju Smith-Schuster is a number one receiver. He had a similar performance last week.
  13. Slayton is off to a pretty good start and not showing any signs so far of a slump, picking up right where he left off. 2TD, 100+ yards is the story of the Giants offense last week when we got nothing else going, I call that taking over the game. Sounds like a number one receiver to me only difference is we lost the game.
  14. I think it is interesting how people are still talking about Darius Slayton as a guy who could be a number one receiver. Darius Slayton proved that he is that receiver last year.
  15. They are serious and will do it every week
  16. Shurmur's team looked good in September too and he won a game. I think Judge's team would have easily beaten Shurmur's.
  17. Giants have things to work out which was expected. Martinez impressed me out there as did Bradberry and yeah even Williams. Pass protection was pretty good when you compared it to the run blocking. Evan Engram remains an underwhelming performer on game day.
  18. Really wish they gave Nick Gates a better shot at RT. Giants really wanted him at center this year and it is clear by the depth chart that Lemieux isn't ready yet. Is Fleming an upgrade over Remmers? Definitely not. Tough being a Wayne Gallman jr. fan right now because he runs hard, looked good in that preseason scrimmage and hasn't taken advantage of the few opportunities given to him. I like him but he's no Saquon Barkley.
  19. Nope, Doomsday Theorist. Giants going 16-0 this year. I want the team to win and there are no rewards for predicting the Giants win record. Put some money in the pot, I'll play
  20. It'll be fine or it won't. Looking forward to the season and excited about facing the Steelers week 1 on Monday night .
  21. Yeah the team was having Connelly working out along the sidelines regularly during camp.
  22. I agree on Amani Toomer though I wonder if we remember him as being better because he was a Giant for so long. We have had too many what if wideouts whose careers lasted about 4-5 years. Beckham was just too emotional and brought negative attention to himself and the team which is unfortunate. For someone who has a positive influence on the game, players and coaches to attract that negative attention is frustrating.
