  1. Because the same 10 people who visit this board have obviously stayed for the football discussion lol
  2. And some people wonder why so many people have left.
  3. Pete Carrol relies on Quinn and Bevell to run the offense and defense, and without that defense that Quinn runs the Seahawks are nothing. Belicheck was FORCED to give up the play calling duties on defense years ago, and relies on Brady and McDaniels to make the team work offensively. The list can go on for most HC in the league who rely on their coordinators; Tomlin, Rivera, Fox. Sure you have guys like Andy Reid or McCarthy who are basically the team OC and HC, but that's usually an exception for coaches.
  4. But you said that the Giant's arnt even close to being in the playoffs, they're not one player or one coaching change away. So if this is a case, would a new HC make a difference? How many season would a new HC be allowed to not make the playoffs? One? Two? Before you would want him replaced?
  5. But arnt you the same guy who has been saying we are seasons away from being a contending team? I don't understand this line of thinking, "We are seasons away from being competitive, but he better get us to the playoffs"
  6. GMB and Sportswrath users everywhere proceed to the nearest four lane highway. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000451342/article/tom-coughlin-will-return-to-new-york-giants-in-2015 I'm glad he's back for one more season, sure up the offense and defense, then think about who is going to replace the guy.
  7. Growing pains obviously, for himself and the players. The emergence of Beckham really saved his ass, and if Cruz can come back and be an effective slot than he will just have more weapons to play with. He now has a full season of game planning and calling plays under his belt, hope he continues to improve as I'm sure there are still some more growing pains ahead. Now the Giants just need to find a McAdoo for the defense.
  8. He's probably the best DE in football. But yeah the talking heads have him pegged already to be the next LT, like you said.
  9. I'm still failing to see your point, other than if the Texans defense gave up 200 yards against the Giants, therefore JJ Watt is a bad DE?
  10. The Giant's were 30th in run defense. Didn't the Giants also give up a record setting number of rush yards to the Cowboys or something this year too?
  11. And a coodrinator that wouldn't call RB swing passes with two minutes to go.
  12. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000450865/article/jim-harbaugh-49ers-parting-ways "Jim and I have come to the conclusion that it is in our mutual best interest to move in different directions," owner Jed York said in a statement. "We thank Jim for bringing a tremendous competitive nature and a great passion for the game to the 49ers. He and his staff restored a winning culture that has been the standard for our franchise throughout its history."
  13. Moss was a tall WR with greyhound speed, it wasn't really seen before a guy with his size being able to outrun the fastest of corner backs in the game, as well as just having the clear height advantage. He was able to out run anyone on the field on deep passes and if a defender was stride for stride with him, he would simply out jump them to the ball or be able to use his height to get the defender out of position for the ball. Beckham doesnt have that size but he makes up for it with his freak athletic ability and the fact that his hands sweat stickum. He's able to not only contort his body to catch a pass but his ability to anticipate the jump on the ball to get the highest point before a defender is unreal and not often seen in any WR let alone a rookie. He's not the fastest guy on the field but he's able to reach his top speed in a couple strides and is able to cut and accelerate on a dime. His route running along with being able to outplay defenders gives him the advantage on short and medium routes, and his physical ability and instincts give him an advantage on the deep ball. Moss was something special, but guys like Calvin Johnson are along the same prototype, tall, fast, a solid set of hands and able to use their height to out jump defenders which makes them a top WR in the league. Beckham though, I've never seen a WR like Beckham before.
  14. So would I. But I'd also rather have a starting caliber O-line, a starting safety, and a starting LB across from Kennard than a starting DE. If JPP thinks he's going to get an all star J.J. Watt contract against using that type of money to sign starters elsewhere on the team, he's mistaken. Besides he sounds like he wants to get paid and I'm sure Watt's contract is going to be in his agents negotiations, so I say let him talk with teams like the Raiders or whoever will give him that contract.
  15. Some team will over pay for him. I hear the Raiders have a hard on for the guy ever since signing Tuck and the leadership he brought to the team. I expect them giving him some stupid contract, six years, 60 million +
  16. Good article, really hits on a lot of things wrong with today's NFL. I remember watching this documentary on NFL network about the draft, back when it had 12 rounds, it talked about how GMs/Coaches would draft players and just leave them on the team for four plus years, just to coach the player into the system through practice. Typically a coach would come in and lay down a four to six season plan to build a winning team, how he would draft, what type of players he wanted, his scheme for offence and defense, what he would want out of the GM type of thing. They would bring stability and leadership and with that hopefully a winning record, that's even why you would see teams back in the 60s and 70s stick with coaches who would put them through multiple losing seasons, just because it takes time and effort to build a team. This doesn't happen in the NFL anymore, you almost have one year to make an impression if you are lucky or else you are out on your ass looking for a new team. Look at the Raiders who have constant turn over in the coaching staff or more recently the Redskins, both teams are running through head coaches and coordinators like they are going on sale, and both teams continue to be a joke in their division.
  17. To be fair almost the entire coaching staff is different form when Robert the Third was drafted, maybe he just doesn't fit the type of team the coaches want. I mean he was touted as having a freak athletic ability for any QB coming out of the draft, but was lacking as a passer. Shanny put him in a gimmick offense that didn't teach him a thing about being a passer and got him hurt. Since then, from all reports he's regressed into a worse passer than he was coming out of college. He just needs a new start with a team that will teach him how to play QB in the NFL, instead of his butt buddy Snyder trying to cram him down the throat of a new coaching staff. I'm sure the coaching staff is just sick of having to deal with the drama from the owner and media about what they are going to do to fix RG3 when they just want to move on a build a winning team. It's like what Al Davis did with Jamarcus Russle, he went through what? Three head coaches before he was allowed to be benched by Davis.
  18. So I was looking at the top ten picks from the last five drafts, since typically after four years it's a boom or bust for a first round pick. 2014 PICK TEAM PLAYER POS 1 Texans Jadeveon Clowney DE 2 Rams Greg Robinson OT 3 Jaguars Blake Bortles QB 4 Bills Sammy Watkins WR 5 Raiders Khalil Mack OLB 6 Falcons Jake Matthews OT 7 Buccaneers Mike Evans WR 8 Browns Justin Gilbert CB 9 Vikings Anthony Barr OLB 10 Lions Eric Ebron TE 2013 PICK TEAM PLAYER POS 1 Chiefs Eric Fisher OT 2 Jaguars Luke Joeckel OT 3 Dolphins Dion Jordan DE 4 Eagles Lane Johnson OT 5 Lions Ziggy Ansah DE 6 Browns Barkevious Mingo DE 7 Cardinals Jonathan Cooper OG 8 Rams Tavon Austin WR 9 Jets Dee Milliner CB 10 Titans Chance Warmack OG 2012 PICK TEAM PLAYER POS 1 Colts Andrew Luck QB 2 Redskins Robert Griffin III QB 3 Browns Trent Richardson RB 4 Vikings Matt Kalil OT 5 Jaguars Justin Blackmon WR 6 Cowboys Morris Claiborne CB 7 Buccaneers Mark Barron SS 8 Dolphins Ryan Tannehill QB 9 Panthers Luke Kuechly ILB 10 Bills Stephon Gilmore CB 2011 SEL # TEAM PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL 1 Carolina Panthers Cam Newton QB Auburn 2 Denver Broncos Von Miller LB Texas A&M 3 Buffalo Bills Marcell Dareus DT Alabama 4 Cincinnati Bengals A.J. Green WR Georgia 5 Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson DB LSU 6 Atlanta Falcons Julio Jones WR Alabama 7 San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith LB Missouri 8 Tennessee Titans Jake Locker QB Washington 9 Dallas Cowboys Tyron Smith T USC 10 Jacksonville Jaguars Blaine Gabbert QB Missouri 2010 2010 - ROUND 1 SEL # TEAM PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL 1 St. Louis Rams Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma 2 Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska 3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma 4 Washington Redskins Trent Williams T Oklahoma 5 Kansas City Chiefs Eric Berry SS Tennessee 6 Seattle Seahawks Russell Okung T Oklahoma State 7 Cleveland Browns Joe Haden CB Florida 8 Oakland Raiders Rolando McClain MLB Alabama 9 Buffalo Bills C.J. Spiller RB Clemson 10 Jacksonville Jaguars Tyson Alualu DT California I feel like, every year all these "must have, will be the next NFL great" lock picks inside the top ten, maybe two or three out of every draft actually lives up to the hype. 2010; Suh, Williams, Berry. 2011;Newton (somewhat), Green, Jones. 2012; Luck, Kalil has been meh outside of his rookie season, Kuechly. 2013; lol who? 2014;Bortles, Evans and Watkins are all helping their team as rookies. Maybe it's just me but I feel like moving a few spots in the draft isn't going to hurt us as much as other people make it out to be. I mean I think of where Odell was taken, arguably he can be the best WR taken out of the draft in the last five years, pick 12.
  19. I have no idea where anyone gets any of this information. Other than it being made up. I'd love to see the article/interview with anyone saying any of this outside of message board "information".
  20. Honestly it's a pipe dream but the guy knows how to coach a defense. He'll end up going to HC the 49ers though.
  21. Dan Quinn, Seahawks defensive coordinator contract is up. Promise him the world and the HC job when Coughlin is "retires" in couple seasons. Todd Bowels, Arizona defensive coodinator. Supposedly Mara has said he liked the guy and he's a New Jersey native, also is a prime candidate for a HC job in the next couple of seasons.
  22. I have no problem with it. Look at when Seattle got in, they beat the what? 12-4 Saints?
  23. How are your Jags doing Nas?
  24. Because they're not playing for a draft spot, they're playing to win. Who wants to see that attitude out of a team?
  25. A hold that get's five yards, or a sack that nets five yards. He still held one of the best DE's in the league to absolutely nothing.
