Blindgreed1 Posted January 4, 2016 Share Posted January 4, 2016 Come next April - the difference will be huge - that is, if you are like the rest of us who spend hours, days, and weeks evaluating players. One spot difference in the draft order can be huge. And drafting ahead of the Eagles is a major advantage in the next draft. The difference between a top shelf DE and a OG that "might" be good in the NFL. There are two DE's in the draft that are difference makers. Joey Bosa and Emmanuel Ogbah - they will both be gone by the end of the 10th pick...hopefully, one of them falling in the Giants' lap. The fall off in DE's after the first two is quite obvious (although, they could pan out to be great). Getting a top 10 pick is a luxury and an advantage. It's even a greater advantage in the 2nd round when there is a scattering of first round players who fell through the cracks and we draft higher up in the order. No one who follows the draft wishes they were drafting later than sooner...unless of course, you are in one of the top spots and you prefer trading down for extra picks because there are so many needs on the team. All 6 teams who played in London this year had their bye week following that game. In terms of messing up your sleep schedule for that week... you get in as early as possible during the week and it shouldn't be too much of an issue by Sunday. And both teams are on equal footing in that regard, I don't see it as a big deal. The bigger deal is that one team loses a home game which sucks for them. Reese has been a failure in the draft. Yes, he is getting good players in the first round. But you have to get more than just one good player in a draft. I can give him a pass on David Wilson, but still. That's atrocious. And lately he's been hitting the 2nd round pretty well, but there's a reason this team is so talent-thin... and the reason is that the draft harvests have been thin. Just far too many misses there. As far as free agency, yes, Rolle, Rodgers-Cromartie... both very good free agent signings. Dwayne Harris was good. Weatherford, Martellus Bennett, Robert Ayers, all good signings. And when you miss on the mid-late rounds, you need to replace those misses with high-priced free agents, which in turn makes it more difficult to sign your good players to more expensive post-rooke contracts (See: Linval Joseph). Allstarjim Posted January 5, 2016 Share Posted January 5, 2016 Giants - 7th in Punt return average, 8th in kickoff return average, one of 5 teams with a kickoff return TD. Average starting drive position was the 28 yard line, 12th in the league. Last year they were 19th in punt return average, 18th in kick return average. Starting drive position about the same at 28.2 which was 14th in the league last season. Dwayne Harris helped in those areas, had about 400 yards and 4 TDs in a limited offensive role, and had both a punt and kickoff return for a TD. Had 6 TDs total. Not like the old days when we came away with LT or Carl Banks, but we usually do well in the first couple of rounds. We simply suck after the third round though...that's where we really have to up our game.OBJ and Flowers have been a good pick. On the other hand, JPP is literally a bust. He's closer to the 5'7"-5'8" range. He's got a little bit of Meggett attitude in him....hopefully, not Meggett's sexual antics that got him a 30 year prison sentence.
