  1. Thank you, I'll keep hanging onto the 80's and 90s. Meanwhile you can keep hanging onto...oh wait....
  2. Jury is still out on Eli. Peyton sucked pretty bad early on too. Sinorice hasn't played a snap in the NFL yet. Can't say with any certainty whether he'll be good or bad. Could be better than his brother, could be worse. I'll give you the Hasselback argument, but then again, Tim isn't a bad backup in my opinion.
  3. Jacobs needs some real game experience. Time to get into the flow of a game, time to get some carries other than strictly short yardage, carries at the beginning of games when it matters as opposed to carries in garbage time. It's time to get a good evaluation of the kid instead of simply using him to spell Tiki.
  4. Yeah, I feel like an ass right about now, because I laughed out loud at the original New Orleans/Flood Control comment.
  5. If we go Thunder & Lightning, the only way it's going to work is if he gets carries on 1st or 2nd down in non-short yardage. Putting the big guy in on 3rd and 1 is about as predictable an offense as possible and all but guarantees 8 defenders in the box with the other 3 keeping thier eyes open for the run. It's a poor reflection on the coaching staff if they think that this will continue to work. Additionally, like previously mentioned, it would be a good idea to get a good evaluation of what Jacobs can do in live, important game situations to see if he can be Tiki's successor or if we have to address it next offseason.
  6. 1: 10-6, would go better, but our schedule sucks. 2: Second round loss. 3: TD leader will be Shockey. 4: Pierce leads in tackles. 5: Madison for interceptions. 6: Umenyiora for sacks.
  7. Thanks for the update. Still wouldn't mind giving Anwar Phillips a shot.
  8. Great minds...While I agree that he's going to be good, I can't say that it'll be a surprise with the production he put up behind a shoddy O-line in college. Granted, I don't know much about the defenses Memphis went up against, but you still have to be pretty damn good to rack up that many yards.
  9. Well, of course Philly is going to get the better players because they draft first. But I think the comparison is between the value of the player Philly got at their pick and the value we got at ours.
  10. Before you get too excited, keep in mind we have one former track star on this team already who can't keep himself healthy enough to stay on the field (Tim Carter).
  11. You see, that's the problem. Everyone liked the move of trading down in the first. And everyone wanted a DT in the first. However, even at 25, there wasn't any DTs available for that high of a pick. We would have had to trade up in front of the Eagles to grab Bunkley (which may very well have made me cream my pants) if we were to get a first round DT talent. So if we weren't going DT, what position should we have gone in in the first round? When Deangelo Williams (RB out of Memphis who is one of I think four RBs ever to rush for more than 6,000 yards in his college career) was still on the board, he would have had to have been my pick. Yeah, we have Brandon Jacobs and he has tons of potential. Yeah, we have Ward who has done well in spots. And of course we have Tiki, albeit for just a few more years. But Williams seems to me to be one of those guys who is just going to be flat out good, real good.
  12. I know nothing about this kid except that 4.21 is really fucking fast. Drafting pure speed in the 7th round - completely fine by me.
  13. I can't say that I don't like it, I just think we could have done better. I did like the trade down, but I think that we could have been more aggressive in getting one of the better DTs. Then again, I'm not sure if any DT other than Ngata and Bunkley would have been worth it at the 32nd pick.
  14. Y'know, I can't quite tell, but I'm hoping you're being sarcastic.
  15. I was surprised at Anwar Phillips. He stepped up pretty well for Penn State as teams went to his side, away from Zemaitis. I thought that would push him up the boards a bit, and now he wasn't even drafted. I think he's a bit slow, but he still could provide depth somewhere, even if it isn't with us.
  16. It will really depend upon how these players play. I agree with those that said it's too early to grade the draft. But based on profiles I've read and based on reactions I've heard and read, I'd have to give this draft a C+/B-. I thought we would've been a little more agressive in pursuing a DT. I don't like the DE pick in round 1 at all. How many years did our defense succeed with one top notch DE? I think Osi is going to fill that role nicely. Having bookends in Osi and Strahan is really nice, but having just one sufficed for a long, long time. I really like the fact that we waited till the 2nd to get Moss.
  17. My initial thought was that they were thinking about making him a DT, but then they drafted a DT which pretty much killed that thought. I didn't, and don't, necessarily understand the move either.
  18. He'll make some team's practice squad.
  19. Yeah, I agreed with trading down, especially when we got a 3rd and 4th for it. And I liked moving up in the second to get Moss. But I think we still should be looking for a DT to put in the rotation, despite drafting one in the later rounds.
  20. I realize our LB core was shot to shit last year, but after getting Short and Arrington, I don't see a need to draft two of them. One backup quality LB who can play all 3 positions would be perfect and that's really it. I'm happy with Torbor, Emmons, Pierce, Blackburn, Arrington, Short, and the draft pick. Regarding DT, I wouldn't mind getting two of them. Although, I'd put off the second one until the 7th. I like taking one with the first, but I'm concerned about the value that will be there at the position. We might be better off going DT in the 2nd. I like CB in the 3rd and WR in the 4th. We have to find an OT soon (to replace LP), and this year's draft wouldn't be a bad place to start looking.
  21. I wouldn't be opposed or upset at all should we draft another linebacker, or even one in the first round. However, I think we need to seriously think about a DT as well. My concern is that I don't know what kind of value there will be at the DT position when we draft in the second round. If it were me, and I had the chance given that mock draft, I'd have traded down a few picks (if I could find a taker) and draft a DT. Then again, the RB position was awfully tempting with the guy from Memphis whose name I can never remember. I like Brandon Jacobs, but I think this Memphis kid is going to be awfully good.
  22. Peterson's injury could easily come into play and change it all.
  23. Wouldn't mind Wroten or Watson, but by the time we pick in the 2nd, I'd bet they're both gone too.
