like the admiral said before, tiki was WAY more beloved than shockey. you'll find plenty of people on this site and on giants.com who think that shockey is overrated and/or we should get rid of him. just because some fans have finally realized that tiki is a self-promoting jerk who only cares about himself (took some of us longer than others to realize this) doesn't mean that shockey gets a free pass. the dog made an incorrect assumption in thinking that the fan base is united in its love for shockey.

plenty of giant fans hate shockey--a lot more than those who dislike tiki

he's in for a rude awakening. his peers are no longer football players who left school early
  4. good series, mickeef. i got the minimum that i wanted from it--1 win and confirmation that we can play with the big boys. would've liked to see adrian gonzalez come through in at least one of those key spots he was in but the main issue is that we need a bat. i'd love to trade for dye (as long as we give up fair compensation for a half year rental) and get a little bit of power from the right side of the plate for the stretch run, but usually we stick to the michael barrett-type of transactions. papelbon's great, i thought we might get to him in the first game but he's truly dominant. if you guys get buerhle the rest of the AL better watch out
  5. and im not scared of detroit, our pitching's better. but manny, ortiz, and the rest of boston's lineup legitimately scares me
  6. awesome, enjoy the game. my list would be: 1) red sox 2) angels 3)tigers
  7. in my opinion it IS harder to do it in the NL. managing an NL team actually takes some skill-just look at joe torre's NL record. managing the yankees--from a purely baseball perspective--is way easier than managing the marlins with a 20 mil payroll. girardi has shown he can manage, mattingly hasn't and personally i think he'd be overwhelmed--also iagree with makemesomefoodho, he's the exact same type ofmanager as torre
  8. im honestly not sold on the angels
  9. i have no idea, i was thinking the same thing but lee's appeal won't be heard by then either so maybe it isnj't as fast as we thought? doesn't an arbiter rule on these things anyway? i was scared shitless that young would miss his turn in this series as soon as i heard about the fight--i've had this weekend circled for a month now and i would've liked to see it lined up as young/peavy/germano so i can see waht the young guy can do against a team like yours but im happy with 2 of the 3. i'm actually not going out this weekend so i can watch all three games. this is the litmus test for the pads--if they can take 2 of 3 from the best team in baseball then i'll feel pretty good about our chances of actually making some noise this year, but losing 2 of 3 to baltimore has me a little worried. good luck to you as well and i hope not to see your boy in the 9th
  10. the right move would be the yanks hiring girardi after joe doesn't re-sign this year, but i'm pretty convinced that mattingly is getting the job
  11. good news, jon daniels got an extension!
  12. eh, who cares about mussina's personal catcher. at this point he's lucky that he still gets to throw to someone at the major league level
  13. bowen's a scrub(though probably better than nieves), im sure the yanks could've offered something a little better than we did. i guess they didnt like barrett
  14. plus it's nice to have the only cub who can land a punch
  15. i'll take him, he's way better than bowen and we could use a guy who's on pace for 25 hr's on the bench
  16. so is this on the right side of the 'line'?
  17. frankly im surprised glavine lasted as long as he did once he started trying to hit the inside corner
  18. it's not easy to replace any closer, let alone mariano rivera. the yanks might have to go through some ninth inning pains for a year or two after mo retires--just like every other team
  19. pats are winning the superbowl anyway, who cares who we trot out there.
  20. ok thanks for the sweep, you can go back to losing now
  21. it's only on direcTV (i think)--and that's not easy to get in NYC either depending on who owns your building
  22. my reasons are 100% selfish
