if im a knick fan i'd rather trade crawford and mo taylor and keep penny's contract in hopes of getting garnett with it, but if that's not possible theni guess you gotta get value for penny's contract while you can. in either case, the knicks now have a good backcourt and marbury doesn't have the pressure of being the team's best player anymore

anthony mason was a headcase here too, so was sprewell. both were on nba finals squads. the team absolutely blows, you can't get under the cap for years, you have no chance at aquiring top first round picks the next two seasons, all you can do is sign players or trade for them in hopes of getting better, and your options are limited AND you have a chance at a top 5 player. what's your alternative? how else are the knicks supposed to get better?

then why discuss his role as a player

career numbers: francis-- 20 ppg, 6 boards, 6.4 assists, 43% FG shooter, 1.5 steals crawford-- 13 ppg, 2.6 boards, 4 assists, 40% FG shooter, 1 steal a game while crawford has more range, francis is the better shooter. crawford is not more athletic, and crawford cannot create his own shot like francis can. they're both under 30 and francis was WAY more accomplished by the time he was crawford's current age than crawford is right now. how many all-star games has crawford been to? what's crawford ever done to deserve 50 mil? at least francis has put up numbers in the past to justify a max contract. and crawford doens't have a shorter contract, he is signed through 2012 while franchise is signed through '09.

nobody is trading for hardaway the player, they're trading for his contract

i can't believe people would be opposed to getting francis and garnett for mo taylor, jamal crawford, frye and hardaway. it boggles my mind. garnett hates to shoot, he loves deferring to other players, he's one of the best possible elite players that you could put on a team with two gunners like francis and marbury and still have a chance at having chemistry.

frye will never be garnett. he's a nice player and will get better but his stock is WAY overvalued right now, i mean he hit the rookie wall in early december, garnett immediately makes this team better and you only have to give up one player who even plays for the team. this is a no-brainer

it wont make the knicks a playoff team but come on, they definitely get the better of this deal if it's just crawford and mo taylor, they get rid of two overpaid players, only one of whom contributes to the team (inconsistently i might add). if those two are all you have to give up then i say give the marbury/francis experiment a shot

it's not as far-fetched as you might think. frye and penny's contract are two very valuable assets and the t-wolves might finally realize that they aren't winning a championship at all during the duration of kg's contract. you take kg and hardaway's contracts off the books for 2007, not sign someone and sit tight next year and you got a high lottery pick and 30 mil to spend on one of the best free agent classes ever.

so is the draft at 8:30 pm on that saturday? league says 4 pm. i like live drafts better too but i meant in the case that we cat settle on a time

why dont we just draft on this site? we can use this thread and it's convenient for everyone even though it'll take a week to do

worst trade: mirabelli for loretta. can someone please tell me why the pads couldn't sign piazza, keep loretta and sign john flaherty or some other cheap platoon/backup catcher? i dont care what they think about barfield's kid, that trade sucked.
